My wife and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 2:00 and it wasn't too busy. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and they are outstanding! My wife had the country fried steak and I had the open face roast beef. The food was delicious and the portions are huge. We will definitely be eating here again.

The Riverstone Restaurant is a quint little country place that has great home style food. The bologna sandwich and grilled cheese with chilli was made to perfection. The service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant in Townsend just outside from the Smoky Mountain National Park.

My burger. I ordered it to go but decided to dine in since they were so friendly!

I stopped here after running the 5k that Vacation Races puts on. I was fairly hungry and they were only a ten minute walk from my room. I ordered the burger with fries and sweet tea. It was all tasty. The burger could have been cooked a little longer for my tastes. The fries were good and they give you a ton. Staff was super friendly! I also like the decor with an old timber feel.

Wonderful breakfast this morning!! Friendly local service! Townsend, TN is so peaceful. We have been for lunch also and it is also amazing! You won't want to miss Riverstone Restaurant

oh my goodness. We stayed just down the street at Tremont lodge. We decided at 8pm to go eat. They're open until 9pm. The place was empty except 1 table. We have a little furbaby dog, and they allow dogs. They greeted us with a smile, and made us feel very welcome. Then all of a sudden, the place started filling up with people. This place is just outside the cove, so at dusk when people are leaving the cove, they are hungry. This place is one of the first places outside the cove in Townsend. We ordered and split their pot roast with vegetables, mash potatoes, and fried okra. It was absolutely amazing. Smoking hot, fresh melt in your mouth pot roast with potatoes, onions, carrots, covered with gravy and side of mash potatoes. With buttered Texas toast. The inside looks vintage, with family charm. Best meal we've had since being up in Townsend. They sell breakfast lunch and dinner. Don't miss this place!

I've been coming here for 20 years. Always love this country restaurant. This trip was off. The messed up the order pretty significantly and service was slow and follow up was subpar. Still love it but hope they step it up.

Great ambiance and wait staff. Love the oversized tables and decor. The food is a bit mediocre though. My grilled Rainbow Trout was thin and extremely over seasoned. I would not return for what I ate, but perhaps looking though other reviews would guide you to some better options.

This spot is near the cades cove entrance of smokies national park. We stopped after a bicycle event and were super hungry. This spot didn't disappoint. The portions are huge! We really wanted Pancakes but their breakfast ends and lunch begins close to 11.30 am. So plan ahead

Empty plate cause it so good.

Food was great and so was our waitress! The food portions were a little small. Reasonably priced though!

We were greeted right away and were able to take a table. Small dining area, with very limited seating. Nice warm cozy vibe including Bob Ross on the tv. The food came out quickly. Hot and fresh. I got the Snoring Bear Breakfast. I chose the Cajun seasoning for the tilapia and it was a lil bland. I probably could have asked for more seasoning, so that's on me. The rest was great. Eggs cooked to perfection. My wife chose the fish platter and she said the fish was delicious. The fries were a lil over seasoned and she had to rub some of the fries off. As for the drinks, cans of Coke, Sprite, etc are $1.99 each. A lil pricey but it is clearly marked on the menu. My only complaint is I ordered a water and was charged 50 cents. It's not listed anywhere on the menu, so I was surprised to see it on my bill. Overall, I would probably stop here again for a quick bite if I'm in the area. Nice little place, and the service is great!

Great Service & Tasty Food... But Small Portions…read more The staff was friendly, the restaurant was spotless, and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was quick, attentive, and very kind. The food and coffee were both delicious. My only complaint is the portion size. Prices were similar to other restaurants in the area, but the amount of food served felt much smaller. The kids cleaned their plates because there wasn't much left to waste, but for the price, I expected more food. Overall: excellent service, clean restaurant, and good food, but the portions don't quite match the cost.

If anything, I hope that this review helps the owners to reconsider some of their offerings. First off, there are multiple cars parked in the parking lot making the average passer buyer think that the restaurant is extremely busy. It does seem like they are known for their Italian food, but they also offered breakfast. First off, I don't like anything special for breakfast. I am very happy with scrambled eggs, a biscuit, bacon I ordered just that, scrambled eggs, a biscuit, and bacon. It was honestly horrendous. Again, I really hate saying this because I know that it's family run and in a small town, but I think they need to reevaluate the breakfast situation. I know that breakfast food is pretty bland, but this was beyond bland and not worth the money. The girl that was seating people that morning was not friendly at all, and we didn't even know that we were supposed to follow her. I definitely hope that their Italian is better than the breakfast, and maybe they should reevaluate the business model. Overall, I do not recommend, we probably would've been better just having breakfast at the campsite.

The house sausage made to perfection, the benne seed bacon was like something I've NEVER had before, and the pickled shrimp with the comeback sauce was INSANE. Coming from someone that doesn't like cold shrimp, it was out of the water. Literally. The waygu burger was delicious and cooked perfect, although sweet due to the jam, something to keep in mind! Fries were yummy and cooked to perfection as well. Lastly, the filet mignon. Words can't describe how much I enjoyed this meal. It's been a long time since I've walked out absolutely pleased. The port-reduction was sweet and a perfect dipper, the steak was so tender and the béarnaise sauce on top takes it to the next level! Pickled veggies, braised onion, and yummy tender Yukon potatoes. You really can't get any better than this plate right here in my opinion! Aside from the food, our sever was so kind, helpful, and very welcoming. We wish we would have got his name, he sure did elevate the experience overall and I hope to see him again! You're tucked away in the forest with the most peaceful ambiance in the evening! The waiter introduced the menu to us and mentioned that the ingredients were all mostly locally sourced and or grown in their garden when you first turn onto the driveway. So great to know exactly where your food is coming from! For the starter, I shared the crab corn chowder - and the waiter was kind enough to split the soup into two bowls with my partner. This was a perfect starter! Creamy, a little smokey, and not too heavy like your typical chowder. Lacking in the crab department, but it's as you would suspect with anything advertising 'containing crab' at a restaurant. We were also given complimentary corn bread and it was delicious. Such a nice surprise and I definitely preferred having the cornbread over regular bread! The service was a little slow, especially to bring the appetizer and bread out, but I wasn't too bothered since it didn't seem like we were rushed to finish our meal. I ordered the filet mignon (med rare) as my main. The flavors were spot on! My filet was a bit tougher than other filets I've had in the past... it was difficult to cut into. I also wished there was more of the red wine sauce to balance the richness of all the accompanying flavors and textures. All in all, this spot was a special treat tucked away in Townsend and I'm glad I didn't have to drive too far for a well-crafted menu and food scene!
