We went twice during our 3-day trip to Gatlinburg! Food was great, ambiance was great and they are pet-friendly - something hard to find in the Gatlinburg area. We shared a pizza and salad the first trip - if I ordered pizza again, I would definitely ask for it to be well done, as it was very 'wimpy'. Salad was delicious and plentiful. Visiting the area and stopped in around 3pm on a Saturday. Modernist hip style place with a large covered, multi surface deck and covered play area for kids and dogs. There is even a taco truck permanently parked outside. So dog friendly, the waiter asked us if we wanted dog bowl for water! We had the shrimp and sausage plate, the salmon with quinoa, and tacos from the taco truck. Everyone enjoyed! The restrooms were clean and the views are scenic. Highly recommend! read more

Not a huge number of eating establishments in Townsend, but this was pretty good. The atmosphere is laid back. They have a great outdoor space, covered seating, and indoor seating. It is counter service and there is a small bar area. It has a decent draft beer selection, and is good for all ages. We ordered the smoked trout sandwich, beef stew, a side of spicy tomato soup, and a pretzel with beer cheese and mustard. Everything was good EXCEPT the stew and soup were WAY over salted. Food and service was very good. Pizza is a bit different, in that the dough is not crispy and actually appears to be slightly raw... not quite sure why it comes out that way, but it is delicious. What a gem! Stopped by for a quick lunch while on our way to cades cove. They have beautiful outdoor seating with a great view of the mountains. We tried the hummus dip, goat cheese fritter and Appalachian trail board - would recommend them all! I personally loved their Italian sausage pizza - thin crust, crunchy and the sausage was beautifully seasoned. Would definitely go back! This was some of the best food we had on our trip here - including out of places we tried in gatlingburg and pigeon forge. It's also a lot more calm than the aforementioned tourist-y towns. The pizza quality here has fallen off drastically of late. I got a Hawaiian today with almost no ham or pineapple on the entire pizza. Half the slices had no toppings at all, and there were only a few of each scattered between slices on the other half, and they skimped on the cheese too. The buffalo chicken pizza I got in my prior visit had raw bacon on it. The pizzas here could be tasty in the past, but management needs to instill better values in its staff because whoever was on duty for these pizzas either wasn't paying attention or just couldn't be troubled to get more toppings. It's just shoddy work. My last two visits were very disappointing, and that's sad because I used to like this place. Please talk to your people about making the time to do things correctly or get new people. read more

The Social is clicking on all cylinders with wood-fired pizza which comes out of the oven with the perfect char on it along with perfectly concocted combinations of toppings. We ordered the sausage/vegetable pizza which is a white pizza ($15), and the sweet potato kale salad (14). Both were perfectly cooked, fresh, and perfect portions to share between me and my wife. This is my wife's and mine second time eating here. For two years now while coming for the Smokey Mountain Half marathon we've settled on this place. Today I had the half chicken with Brussels sprouts (out of the potatoes), and the wife had the kale salad with added chicken. We both enjoyed our meals. Food is always excellent. No complaints there! The only downside is that the employees tend to have a poor attitude every single time we come here. If you ask for something, such as a side of ketchup or ranch, they always give us a bad look and act as if we are a bother and will often make "eyes" with their coworkers. It is incredibly uncomfortable. After spending $115 for a family of 9 to eat a couple pizzas and appetizers, I would expect the employees to treat their customers with decent respect and a good attitude. This has been an issue over the last several years. I suggest a better training program when it comes to customer service, and to "revamp" your current team, especially the ones who seem very unhappy to be here. read more

We visited Friday. The food and service were great, however there was an employee who was very obviously unhappy and made us very uncomfortable. The older, dark-haired lady (Jennifer? Jessica?) at the taco truck was loudly talking about how she would never eat at the establishment because of food quality issues and because "she wants to be served," was very abrasive towards my friend when she went to pick up her order, and then yelled at the two younger women who were taking orders and making margaritas. I'm not sure what the issue was, but the young women were visibly uncomfortable and should not have been spoken to like that in front of customers. It is hard for patrons to want to return and to keep good staff when one employee seems set on running people off. We will return to eat delicious food, but not from outside. read more

I've been here several times now and it is just such a cool spot with something for everyone! I always try to go when the weather is nice because they have the absolute best patio area. Not only are there covered areas, but tables for large groups and spots near the taco shack, the uniquely constructed kids play area, cornhole, and a doggie park area. Don't sleep on those amazing views, either! The patio closest to the restaurant/bar has ceiling fans and TVs where they show games, too. Inside, there is an abundance of table space as well as a bar you can sit at. Whether you eat/drink inside or outside, you always get into the line inside the main doors to order. They give you a buzzer to place on your table. I have tried their roundbreads (both the fig/pear/cheese and the pepperoni), tacos (all three meats tried), taco bowl, soft pretzel, and goat cheese/corn fritters, brussel sprouts and tasty beer (of course!). The roundbreads are amazing and woodfired, the fritters are tasty with that homemade and creamy sauce, and the soft pretzel may be the best we've had since moving to the South. The mustard with the pretzel we had to toss before our kids could try it, as it was the spiciest mustard I have ever consumed. Jeepers creepers. ha! Hubby's eyes were watering. The beer cheese is really good, though! The sauce with the brussel sprouts was really flavorful and the sprouts came out warm and fresh, but unfortunately a bit hard in the middle. Dang. The tacos and bowl were admittedly a tad disappointing and pricey. They were customizable and came out quickly, which is awesome. However, aside from the beef option, the other tacos and bowl did not have as much flavor as we had hoped and the tortillas quickly got soggy and fell apart. The atmosphere, ample food and entertainment offerings, quality of most of the food, and the friendly service are amazing. Now that we've tried many items from the menu, we know what to order next time. This is a must-try spot worth a special visit. read more

Came down into Townsend, from Cades Cove, for dinner. Had our pup with us so this was the perfect place. We loved the whole outdoor setup and being able to have our dog with us. I ordered the Ham & Brie Panini, hubby had a Power Bowl with shrimp. He loved his Power Bowl so much he was tempted to get one to go for the next day! I'm not a huge fan of kettle chips and would have preferred a veggie side with the panini. The panini was delicious, great flavor! Husband tried an Orange Wheat Beer and loved it. We chanced upon this place on our trip to Gatlinburg. I never would have thought there was a hidden gem past the area we were staying at. Peaceful Side Social (aka The Social as the locals call it) has a lot to offer. Amazing food and drinks, beer and cider on tap and they have a taco bar outside that has a BYO margarita bar. It's a covered porch that welcomes leashed dogs, and has a little play area for the kids. They have nice, clean bathrooms with a changing table in one, and ample parking outside. Hubby and I took a leisure drive through Townsend, Tn and stumbled across this gem. What a great find! It's super cute and well appointed. Staff is warm and friendly, the food items looked appetizing and there's a large selection of ice cold draft beer, ciders, and wine. There's sufficient indoor seating for dining along with a nice open bar area, an outdoor Taco Bar, children's play area, covered patio area with T.V.'s, an open area with shaded sun cloths.
