My soul dog, Atlas, was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous tumor of his upper jaw and sinuses in December of 2025. Atlas was 13yo, and I made the difficult decision to decline the invasive treatment options available. Instead, I vowed that Atlas would live out the rest of his days with peace and joy, never stepping foot in a vet clinic again. Peaceful Veterinary Care allowed me to keep that vow to Atlas by giving him a calm and dignified passing at home surrounded by his favorite people. From the kind and empathetic staff answering my questions over the phone to Dr. Rose's professional and compassionate bedside manner with Atlas and me alike, everyone at Peaceful Veterinary Care is truly in service of the families they care for. The day of Atlas' passing was beautiful and bright, so we all went out to my backyard where Atlas could feel most comfortable. It's been a little over a week now, and I'm finally able to sit down and write this review. Losing Ruby, our 16-year-old Havanese/Shih-Tzu mix, has been one of the most difficult and painful experiences. She was perfect for us in every way. Ruby was always terrified of going to the vet, so we knew that when the time came, we would need an in-home service. We didn't want her to spend her final moments feeling scared, and the thought of driving home afterwards from our vet was just too much. Dr. Chapman arrived at our home on time, gently walked us through the process, and never rushed us. She truly exudes compassion, patience, and professionalism. In the end, Ruby passed peacefully. Dr. Chapman made it clear that she would wait outside afterward until we were ready to say our final goodbye, so she could take Ruby for cremation. We deeply appreciated that Ruby was handled with such care and dignity -- she was placed on a dog bed and covered with a blanket for transport. It has been almost a year since I used Peaceful Waters for my beloved, Scottie. He was such an important part of my life, but due to veterinarian neglect, I had to put him to sleep. Unfortunately, by the time I realized the incompetence of the Rancho Bernardo Vet office I was using, it was too late. I rushed him to the ER - Carlsbad VCR and he spent almost four days there. After running multiple tests and performing various procedures, it was just too late. If he had received the proper care in a timely manner, from the RB Vet, Scottie would have lived several more years. During those last few days, I explored various companies that specialized in assisting pet owners with the difficult task of putting them to sleep. When I contacted Peaceful Waters, my first contact was with Madison. I later found out she was one of the owners/veterinarians. Madison was kind and compassionate and answered all of my questions. When I called back to set up the actual appointment, Madison couldn't have been nicer. She let me know Dr. Chapman would be the one coming to my home. (I had the hospital staff disconnect Scottie's IV and brought him home from the hospital with pain medicine for one last night.) The next day when Dr. Chapman arrived, I felt an instant connection. She was warm and friendly and gave me the time I needed to say my "goodbyes" to Scottie. She was extremely kind and compassionate, and treated Scottie with great dignity. I found Peaceful Veterinary Care from my search on Google and I am very grateful for them. My 13 year old black lab Maverick was not doing well last Thursday and we knew it was time for him to go. We called and they were able to come after hours the same day. When Dr. Chapman walked in my husband instantly recognized her from the vet at Petco who administered shots to our other dog just the month prior. We felt like it was a sign. She was very nice and forthcoming with the process. After Maverick had passed she gave us a few minutes to mourn and when she came back in she had picked flowers from outside to give Maverick. We always knew that losing a furry member of the family would be hard. This was devastating! When the amount of bad days exceeded the good days, we felt it was our Bowee's time. Two more months, she would have reached 16 years of age, but we knew she lived a glorious life during those 15 years 10 months we were together with her. We had never done this before, she was our first baby and we knew we wanted to honor her in every way, shape, and form. There were two different companies I researched. Peaceful Waters Aquamation was my first contact. A sweet lady named Kristine answered. I began explaining I was at a loss of what to do and that we were looking at letting go of our baby. I broke down. Kristine was kind and understanding and helped guide me through the process of what they offered as services. I learned about Elizabeth, the founder of Caretakers and how they work as a team under one umbrella. When I connected with Elizabeth, she was incredibly gentle and compassionate. She explained the services they provided (in-home euthanasia) and also how they help with the care of the body. In my heart, it wasn't even necessary for me to contact anyone else. I was sure that these people are who I wanted to work with to handle our last few days with Bowee. Two days later, a fine gentleman by the name of Justin arrived at our home. Along with the other members of the team, he was no different. Friendly and informative. He immediately made us feel comfortable and naturally knew when to switch from being humorous to sensitive when we needed him to be. Bowee was comfortable with him right away. Within 15 minutes of his arrival, she laid right in front of his knees and took a nap. We were comforted that she helped us make this choice easier for us. Justin was so good with her. He followed our lead, without any pressure whatsoever, making sure we were ready before each step of the procedure. He helped her pass ever so peacefully. In some ways, the moment was beautiful. We personally drove Bowee ourselves to Peaceful Waters. It was after hours, but they ensured that they would be right by our side. We met with Madison, the owner. My goodness! She was sooo good with Bowee! She carried her inside from our car and laid her down gently on the table. She made ink pawprints for us and guided us through any memorials or services we wanted to perform. She was amazing! We felt like our girl was in great hands. We did the viewing memorial service as well as the private aquamation. We met Carolyn and Kristine who did a phenomenal job with the service and memorial items. We were absolutely pleased with the level of detail of everything from them! Bowee was in amazing condition surrounded with the beautiful flowers they laid out for her. We had a huge crowd of people and we filled that small room with so much light and love for our special baby. The aquamation service was so compassionate. One last spa day, that's what Kristine called it. They helped us provide a beautiful send off. It was phenomenal. Then the inevitable happened. Our other puppers, Bonzai, lost her battle with lymphoma cancer. 6 weeks. 6 whole weeks. That's how long Bowee and Bonzai were apart. 6 weeks. We felt like we were hit by a semi-truck. We were not expecting this at all. The chemo was working. Until it wasn't anymore. Dr. Chapman from Peaceful Veterinary Care came under very, very short notice and provided a humane send off of our second girl. This goodbye was much harder due to this disgusting disease. Dr. Chapman helped us make this excruciating moment bearable. She was absolutely amazing and the perfect soul to be there for our Bonzai. Once again Peaceful Waters was there for us. Honestly, I really did not want to see them again, at least not this soon. They were amazing, again, during this extremely difficult loss. And once more, we wanted Bonzai to have the same level of care, just like her sister. I keep reminding myself they are together again. Our loss of Bowee, and then a loss again, this time with Bonzai...no words. We are broken from all of this. Thank goodness Peaceful Waters was there. I have nothing but great things to say about Peaceful Waters, Peaceful Veterinary, and Caretakers. I could go on and on about how grateful I am that they were there to support us. The road to recovery is miles away, honestly maybe even further. These people helped pick up the pieces and helped us honor our girls in the best way possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you! My best friend Puck's battle with cancer took a turn for the worse on December 31st, and by January 2nd it was clear he was not going to recover and that continuing medical care was just prolonging his torture. He was always so afraid of the hospital and had already spent two days there. I desperately didn't want that to be the last thing he saw and felt. Thankfully, his oncologist suggested Peaceful Veterinary Care. When I called they were so helpful and were able to schedule a home visit for that evening. By that afternoon I had him home and was able to spend a few hours cuddling with him before I had to say goodbye for the last time. I'm not going to lie and say it was easy.
