Recently, our beautiful boy died while in the care at the veterinarian's office. The Vet's office set this memorial company up. This company partner's with Eternal memories where they email you almost immediately after your pet dies and they want you to choose options for your beloved. The fees are steep to say the least. The problem that I have is that although they did not pick the pet up from the veterinarian's office for a whole week, they emailed me telling me that 2 days after he had died, they had "treated with love and respect while in our care." How - you don't have our pet? Then I got a voicemail ( 4 days before they picked the pet up) telling me the name of my pet and that they were going to email me a copy of his nose print. How can you do that if you don't have the my boy in your possession. This made us very uncomfortable so we went and picked our boy up from them once they had him in their possession -7 days after his death and took him to the place we trust in Orange County; The positive is that they were very kind and respectful when we went to pick him up read more

Having to put my dog down was the most difficult thing I've ever had to do. He had spine disease and his quality life went down rather fast. Very sad but my Vet was very caring and he went peacefully. West Coast Pet handled the cremation and I was presented with a beautiful package about a week later. Putting down my dog was a hard thing and putting his final remains in the hands of strangers is even strangers, however that's how we have to do things. My BroDy ( capital D for dog) lived a long 15 years of life. I have a clipping of his fur that is beautiful, they could have just gave just a white patch since he was bicolored but they gave me one of best parts of my dog I loved. When I came to pick up his remains it was done so nicely and I had them put some of his ashes in necklace urns as I waited in my car. I have a nose print as well. A few months after I received a call from them and they had another print of his nose and they sent it no charge. One of our lovely cats passed unexpectedly on a Sunday. On Monday AM, we took her body to our vet for cremation by whoever our VCA (Veterinary Centers of America) hospital contracts with. We didn't want the cremains back, or paw prints, or urns, or an online memorial. (We have plenty of nice photos of her to display on our computers.) We paid the vet for a simple cremation, and we thought that was that. However, almost immediately after delivering poor Misty's remains to the vet, I started getting emails from West Coast Pet Memorial Services, telling me there's a deadline for "aftercare services": online pet memorial, urns, paw prints etc. Far down in the email it states that "If you do not log on to the Eternal Memories website to confirm your memorial wishes, we will proceed with the services and products that you selected at your veterinary hospital." Well, duh, I thought a simple cremation was EXACTLY what I selected at the vet's. I've had an email every single day for three days from these hucksters pushing their products. These people are very slick and, much like funeral homes for humans, they push goods and services on people who are grieving a loss. They don't post prices on their website, which is suspicious. VCA bought up our vet hospital within the last few years and apparently attached themselves to this obnoxious cremation company. I think they should take a close look at that relationship, because it's annoying and distressing to their clients. read more

Admittedly, I was a bit nervous when I came to Yelp to look at the reviews for West Coast Pet Memorial Services and saw multiple recent 1 and 2 star comments. We did not choose them - we used Lap of Love for in-home euthanasia for our sweet fifteen-year-old dog and this is who they contract with. I can wholeheartedly say my experience with them was wonderful. I only dealt with Hunter, but he was kind, professional, and empathetic during both our phone call and in-person when I went to pick up our girl. I am literally mortified at the experience I just had dealing with this company! I recently had to say goodbye to my sweet boy Shamus and they were the company my vet works with to handle pet remains. I received a call Wednesday to verify my address so they could ship my boy home. I received the delivery on Thursday but was not ready to open it.....I waited a few days and when I opened the box it was NOT my boy Shamus. I have been sent the remains of someone else's pet named Luke! I can not believe in this already difficult time that this has happened. I have called and emailed them as well as contacted the vet to find out where my dog's remains are and have not heard back. To make such a heartbreaking mistake just baffles me, and to not immediately contact me back is so unprofessional. The problem I have now is trusting that if and when I get the remains back of my pet will it really be him. I do NOT recommend using them!! I will hold on to Luke until I can make contact with his family to ensure he is returned to his family and I hope whoever has Shamus does the same for me. read more

I was at my vet for an appointment when one of the deliverers (Ivan) came in with a few bags that had pet remains in them. One of the other customers made a joke about the "gift bags" he was delivering. Ivan respectfully explained what the bags were. I had the unfortunate experience of having West Coast Pet Memorial Services "take care" of my Best Friend and Soulmate because that is who my vet uses, though it states otherwise on their website. I wish I had known and will be informing my Vet they should change their provider from such an incompetent, unprofessional, uncaring, POS company for the care of your FAMILY MEMBERS LAST PLACE, MEMORIAL ITEMS YOU CANT REPLACE OR MAKE AGAIN, AND REMAINS! This company is NOT transparent about anything to the veterinarians or clients. When it comes to the materials used for their paw prints, website says they are made from "natural clay," when in reality it is polyform polymer oven-bake "clay" which is a synthetic form of "clay" made mainly of PVC polyvinyl chloride and other plastics. They claim your paw print is sanded and sealed with a semi-gloss enamel. That is not true. Mine was returned to me sticky and tacky, no type of sealant had been used as it is already cracking apart on its own just from sitting next to my loved ones urn. Which brings up my second point. If you have gotten the Serenity Urn through your vet that uses West Coast Pet Memorial Services, they don't even tell the veterinarians what it is made out of. The Serenity Urn is NOT wood as advertised. it is medium density fibreboard (fake wood that does not hold up and will begin to mold and break apart with age.) Had I or my Vet been made aware of the material of this urn (living in a wet/humid environment) I would never have chosen it (or even considered it as an option) as it will not hold up where I live and now I have to pay for a new urn. All of this while trying to accept and grieve the hardest loss of my life and pay my way out of veterinary bill debt from trying to save the life of my everything. When reaching out to customer service (which took multiple emails, calls and voicemails to get one email response) about questions of the materials via the paw prints and Serenity Urn, Ashley the representative did not even know the correct materials and made claims that were untrue. When I responded for some clarification on some points/ask them to kindly be transparent on their site about the material of the Serenity Urn, I received absolutely no response. Don't bother looking at what their memorials say it should include because unless literally physically done by your own Vet, you are not getting a fur cutting in a "corked bottle", a nose ink print, or even a PAW PRINT and definitely not with your pets name etched in it like they say unless your Vet does it themselves?! I'm almost 100% positive the paw print in received back is not my 11 pound cat. The paw print has no nail marks, no "impression" signs like a paw was pressed into clay. Their is no sign of skin texture as you see on most paw impressions, no visible signs that would indicate it came from a real animal at all. It is extremely deep in each individual section and all a little too perfect...with literally no indentation whatsoever from paw pad to the toes, no sign of pressure to make such a deep impression all at once. There is no way this is an actual impression from my 11lb kitty, love of my life's paw. Picture provided as they also claimed it was painted and sealed and it's not! They have been found to give fake paw prints back to clients. Have returned the incorrect pet to pet parents and never respond to amend the situation because they completely DON'T CARE. And that is literally the whole point of their job. They have actually been found guilty in 2014, of dumping "communal cremation" unprocessed pet remains, promised to be scattered at sea, in the dumpster behind their crematorium! Their website gives almost no information and their customer service is VERY reluctant to help. If your end of life care provider uses west coast pet memorial services, find another provider. It is BEYOND not worth trusting a dishonest, completely not transparent, information hiding company with the life and care of your beloved furry family. My heart is beyond broken that my beloved ended up with this company as his final resting place before coming home in a FIBREBOARD BOX WITH NOTHING! Horrible. I'm LIVID. read more

When my dog passed away at VCA Emergency Hospital, I inquired about cremation. They told me they worked with this business, so I signed a paper and off my sweetheart went to them. Everything went according to their timeline, and I was pleased with the presentation of her ashes went I went there to collect them. But all that was soured by the blatant indifference of the staff. There was a man and a woman behind the counter when I arrived, both staring into their respective computer screens. The woman eventually looked up at me, and I gave her my name. She walked into a back room, came out with a bag and placed it on the counter. While she immediately went back to her screen, I opened the bag to ensure that my dog had been prepared as I had requested. I obviously became emotional and began to cry some. Eventually the woman employee peeped out a "sorry for your loss" while literally not even taking her eyes off her screen. As for the male employee three feet away, I could have spontaneously combusted and he would not have given a glance. Wasn't expecting any consolation, coz that would by grossly ineffective and borderline creepy. But even a halfway sincere display of momentary sympathy doesn't seem unreasonable, especially given the very nature of their business. If nothing else, they could have offered to mention the chapel on the premises, that I happened to notice on my way out. Left there feeling that I have had more quality interactions with toll booth workers. Ironically, what should have been the easiest part of the entire business transaction was the hardest one for them: caring. Take your pet the the Sorrento Valley Pet Cemetery instead. I brought my three previous dogs all there once they had passed. They have been consistently professional and sympathetic. read more

There were no indications up front at the veterinarian about how much I would be charged, just that I was signing over the body to this service. I had a cat unfortunately pass away at a different veterinarian 5 months prior, where I paid $174 to get the ashes back in an urn, so I thought how bad can it be? It turned out the minimum cost would be $335. Additionally, if I wanted the same type of urn and memorabilia from West Coast Pet Memorial/Eternal Memories/Gateway Services, Inc. I would have had to pay a total of $640. Every day until I made my choice (and thus gave them money) they pestered me with a phone call. I am grieving over my cat, the vet bill, and these vultures. read more

My family has had a pet at rest here for over fifty years. I know it has gone through ownership changes over the years, but all of the sudden they caretakers have apparently become lazy. The grass looks terrible, and there are signs posted that we can't place flowers, etc. as they will be removed after seven days. We always remember to come by and honor our beloved pet, but now we apparently can't leave flowers or holiday decorations. It is a small place, and many of the pets no longer have visitors, is it really that hard for the caretakers to lift off the flowers or holiday decorations to mow and then replace them? This week my 14 year-10 month old Schnoodle, Roxie, was laid to rest at West Coast Pet Memorial cemetery. She is my 4th dog to be cremated and have her remains buried there, the first being in the late 1970's! I have experienced the changes in ownership and management---several whom I would have given a very low review. The personnel and operations are greatly improved from previous owners and management. I expect the grounds to be renewed as new pipes are being replaced and re-worked. It is such a peaceful place to visit our pets. A big thank you to Ryan Huerta. Your professionalism in dealing with the operations of the cemetery is excellent. Your communicadtion skills, coupled with your kindness, made the experience less stressful. I really needed the care and peace that these folks provided after losing my beloved pet. I chose to pick up my dog's cremation box in person, rather than have it delivered to our vet. I'm glad I did. The grounds/gardens surrounding the memorial building were peaceful and allowed to wander through and reflect. The photo engraving on my dog's cremation box appeared to have been made by a true artist. I felt like these folks made a concerted effort to show care, compassion, and peace every step of the way. I unfortunately had to suddenly say goodbye to my loving cat the same week I'm writing this review. We were connected to this company through the animal hospital we brought our cat to. The animal hospital already included a "basic package," which was a wooden box, clay paw print and a nameplate. We wanted to also get a nose print included, so we called directly to inquire. I mostly spoke with Alma on getting the nose print added. (Everyone else we spoke to was very kind.) She was very professional but compassionate in such a difficult time. I called them again the next day for some other confirmation on the order and delivery. She was quick and efficient with the given information. I was given one last call to confirm my address for delivery of my cat's ashes t and Alma continued to be so professional. I give such a huge thanks to this company's services. read more

I had a most wonderful experience with San Diego Pet Memorial Park. My canary, Timbo died on 10/13/2018 and I took him to his vet at Avian and Exotic Animal Hospital, who prepared him for pick-up. My vet asked me to contact these people, for cremation and I did. However my bird died on a weekend, and the vet didn't know that they aren't open on weekends. So I quickly called them on Monday to arrange for pick-up. I was taken care of my Abraham. I felt the compassion in his voice as he guided me through the process. I received Timbo 3-days later in a beautiful cedar box, a organza bag with his feathers, clay imprint of his little feet, a bag of his feathers and his ashes. I was so touched because I didn't think about keeping any of his feathers. San Diego Memorial Park is also in a state of transition. They have even bought by another company and talking to the current manager when I picked up my bird's ashes, there are going to be a lot of new and exciting things happening. I'm sure glad these people were around for my time of grief! I would use them again for any future pets! read more

When we found out my dog didn't have much time left, I picked couple cremation service places. Honestly this place wasn't. First choice place was out of town that day, and another one wasn't responded. So, I called this place. It was late afternoon and almost closing time. On the phone, they remind me that they will close soon, so I was little afraid if this place is really business like and not really care about pet or owner. But once I showed up, they treated me really nice and took enough time to take care of me and my dog. Stuffs are professional and treated my dog with best respect. We are planning to get personalized urn, so picked most basic one. A couple days later, I picked him up. He came in beautiful box and also his paw print and fur too! I wasn't expecting those gift! No one got back to me yesterday and when I called today they told me that it was too late because she was already cremated. I'm not even sure where to begin to describe how much of a miserable experience we have had with San Diego Pet Memorial Park! Our precious dog passed away on November 1st. We took her to our personal vet for individual cremation, we were told she would be sent to San Diego Pet Memorial Park, and that it would take 1-2 weeks. We were told we could have anything we chose engraved on her urn along with a photo engraving for an addition price. When I didn't hear anything for nearly 3 weeks, I called my vet for an update, and about 2 days later I got a call back saying that they had started the engraving, and realized that it wouldn't all fit on the box, so I needed to cut some off from the end, as they had already engraved the first 4 lines. At this time I expressed my frustration for the fact that this wasn't already complete, and that it wasn't reasonable for me to be forced to remove the end part of what I wanted to say, just because they chose to start engraving before realizing it wouldn't fit! I was then told "never mind, they said they can make it work". This was just the beginning of the most frustrating part of my ordeal!! They then delivered the urn for the first time to my vet with only my dogs name on it, none of the requested engraving, causing it to be sent back for the appropriate engraving... They delivered it a second time to my vet with a misprint (duplicated the word "and"), so it was sent back a second time... They delivered it a 3rd time, this time with spelling mistakes that weren't present on the draft given to them as to what it should say... so it was sent back a 3rd time... They delivered it a 4th time, at which time I was told it was correct and should come in to pick it up. We picked it up, took it home, and found that the word "and" was doubled up again, essentially being a repeat of the first engraving error! With this level of unprofessionalism and incompetence, it honestly has me concerned that it isn't even my beloved dogs remains inside the box, if they aren't able to handle a task as simple as copy and pasting text into their computer for a digital engraving process, it leaves me with very little confidence in the other services they have been paid to perform. This whole ordeal ended up taking 27 days, and still was not done correctly. It has made a terribly painful time in our lives so much harder than it should have been. I have found the services of San Diego Pet Memorial to be unprofessional, incompetent, and insensitive. I would highly recommend you not trust their services for your beloved pets. read more

Very unhappy with this rip-off of a cremation service! They charge you a ridiculous amount of money that doesn't even come with your beloved pet's name engraved on the urn! You have to pay extra for that, along with paying extra to just have some of your dog's fur clipped & saved, to be sent to you... with a paw print that looks nothing like the paw size or print of my precious, beloved dog! On top of that, the site says that the round shaped clay they use for the paw print will be glazed with a protective, clear coating (which it Wasn't protected at all!) came to me with fine, little cracks in it! Don't use this service! All they car about is your money! On top of that, this POS place doesn't even included a certificate of your beloved dog's birth date & death date, to be accompanied with the urn! You again, have to pay separately for that too!
