Our waitress Nora was the most enjoyable person I have encountered in quite some time. Laughing and having an enjoyable time with us. Accommodating us with quick service. Her energy was excellent! Use to be my favorite Chinese restaurant. I had been eating here for over 30 years. I guess they have new owners wish they had of kept the previous owners recipes. Sad to see such a former great spot fall from glory! Ordered on DoorDash. My general tso's chicken was overcooked, chewy, and super stingy on the sauce. Idk how you make general tso's dry, but this was. The flavor wasn't that great either, and I used to be addicted to the stuff, particularly from Peacock!!! This place used to be THE PLACE to go for American Chinese food. The best Chinese food here in New England that I ever had. The best hefty and flavorful chicken fingers, Moo-goo Gai Pan to die for with super tender chicken and a delicious sauce and fresh vegetables. The rice was moist, filled with pork, bean sprouts and had amazing flavor. The boneless pork had amazing flavor and was always tender and not very fatty. The Wonton soup had snow peas and pork and carrot and the broth was tasty and the wontons thick and old style. Yum! BUT unfortunately this place switched hands a few years back and the food has seriously gone down hill now. WE TRIED THE FOOD ABOUT 5 times through a period of about a year and maybe a year and a half since switching hands and they added something to the food that gave me big digestion issues and made me sick. My husband and kids did not feel so well either. So I'm not sure what they added to the food but it's bad!! We can't eat their food. We thought it was just a weird thing but nope.... Every time since they changed hands. So we will not be going back. I hear other people are also upset with the change in the food. New ownership huh?! This is what they served me on Christmas Day. Scallion pancakes and egg rolls a forty minutes wait total. I called it in and was told thirty minutes ....once I got there they informed me they hadn't started it. Had to get back to work and inquired this must have pissed the overweight asian girl with glasses. She is abrasive and pathetic she served me deliberate ruined food. We recently reserved their event room for a celebration of life family event. From booking the room to visiting ahead of time to leaving after the gathering; it was just what we had hoped for. The set up was done to order. The room was clean and quieter than the rest of the restaurant--just what we needed. The food was great with plenty left over to take home boxes. The staff was attentive without intruding. We couldn't have been more pleased. It's been a challenging time for us and the staff at Chinese Peacock made it easier with the manner in which they helped us. read more

I went to get a Valentine's Day meal for my wife from the Peacock. I bought a PUPU for two and Pork fried rice. When I got it home the food was literally un-palatable. The ribs wings and teriyaki was burnt hard, and the rice was also burnt it had a burnt odor to it. And on top of the food being burnt it was cold. So my wife returned there and asked for a refund. She asked my wife, you can't eat cold food? She chuckled in her face as if to say big deal! Never even acknowledging the bad food! She refunded our money! And HELL NO I CAN'T EAT COLD, BURNT FOOD!!!! Especially not for the price I paid for a decent meal. The clerk thought it was just so funny (Not)!!!!! . This place used to be to be OUTSTANDING! The food has changed..it wasn't bad. Just different. We actually were suprised and enjoyed it. When we payed the waitress, she was very rude. She counted out her tip in front of not just our table but the tables around us and kept repeating her self " that's it?" It was the rudest most embarrasing thing ever. This used to be a place I went to frequently. I moved away and it was no longer convenient to get to but recently found myself in the area wanting Chinese and so I gave it a go. We ordered fried rice, lo mein, a chicken dish and a pupu platter and it was very sad. The large portions didn't make up for the unfavorable grey meat, or the seemingly multiple times the noodles had been reheated given the dry shriveled texture of them. The rice was extremely unseasoned yet somehow very brown and covered in something I couldn't distinguish (not soy sauce) so that was also a let down. The women who worked there were nice and pleasant and the wonton chips were good but that was all that I can positively say about this place anymore. The new owners should look into giving the inside a fresh look and clean up so it's not so sad and revisit their seasoning and cooking methods. read more

As many times as I've been to Weight Watchers at this plaza I've never noticed Peacock Chinese tucked into the corner near Big Y. Trying a new Chinese restaurant is very scary, but not wanting to fight the Big E traffic to get to Feeding Hills....I went to Peacock on the suggestion on a fellow Yelper. There was an air freshner smell noticeable to me when I walked in but from outside the food even smelled good. It's not a fancy place, worn with time and dated decor, but the cleanliness level was good. The ladies room was also tidy. I've read other Yelpers dislike the service. Our server was efficient. He wasn't warm and fuzzy but efficient. We were satisfied with his service and left him a good tip. The food was very good. The serving was big. I asked for an extra plate immediately to split my plate into a friendlier Weight Watcher semi approved portion. My friend was equally as scared as me to try something new but also liked it. I ordered a Shrimp with Lobster Sauce lunch. It has 5 jumbo shrimps, which is more than I expected. The dish is good in every manner, including the color, the ingredients used, size, portion. It also comes with three big chicken fingers. I recommend to eat it with white rice instead of fried rice. Not just because the fried rice is not a good combination with the tasty dish, the fried rice was a little dried and hard. As long you request white rice instead, it is alright. read more

My review is based on frequent delivery orders. I. have to say that their fried dumplings and chicken fingers (which are also used as sweet and sour chicken entree items) are my favorite. I could easily eat those dumplings, dunked in their delicious house-made dumpling sauce--well, every single day. I know that delivery time is usually based on gig services like DoorDash or UberEats. But I have to say that their cooking time is quick considering how delicious the food is. Strongly recommend the chicken with broccoli as well. read more

I'm an idiot. This place has like a cult following in the area, and for some reason I wanted to try other places for Chinese food, and in the end I wound up back at the beginning..back at Peacock. I think I was put off years ago by the interior, and was like this place is gross. After a random order of takeout, I realized this place is the bomb. The food or the interior hasn't changed in goddamn years. I remember my parents ordering food here when I was a kid. They still have the best egg rolls and chicken fingers around. The takeout portions are huge and overflow the takeout boxes. They have stuff on their menu you don't see at any of the other Chinese restaurants. I used to go to Ginger Blossom and Taos, but eventually left because of their lack of consistency and quality. Now Peacock will be the go to place as it should of always been. read more

This was my first time there and I ordered curry chicken, fried rice and an egg roll. The chicken came with a medley of fresh vegetables and had a very nice subtle curry flavor that I thoroughly enjoyed. The vegetables were cooked al dente as they should be, the only slight disappointment was the fried rice. The rice, while not lacking in all the customary ingredients, was okay just lacked in overall depth of flavor. The egg roll was better than some I have had elsewhere. Always very satisfying. Peacock is very consistent in the flavors and choices. Usually my "go to" meal is the Szechuan Lo mein. Today I tried something new and I went with Ta Chien chicken. They left one essential item I ordered (chicken wings) out of the bag and I had to drive ALL THE WAY BACK to pick it up. Worst customer service and irresponsible management. I've been going to Peacock for several years and always had good experiences. We ordered a Poo Poo Platter to go on June 26 th. The boneless ribs were hard as a rock, the chicken wings were the same, they tasted like they sat around all day, and I think they did. I ended up with food poisoning.
