This new tasting room had only been opened 7 months when we arrived on this Saturday afternoon. The ambience is modern and new with free parking. There was even a electric parking spot. The road to the tasting room is not well labeled as one guest said the missed the sign and went to the house instead. Luckily we found the tasting room at the end of the dirt road. We were able to find a seat at the bar and tasted the reserve wines. We had good service and found out the owner was from Burbank as was Perry the manager. My husband liked the wines and bought a few. I was driving so just sipped a few. There are no discounts nor wine club yet. Next time I hope to bring some bread and cheese then sit in one of the outside seating areas. I really like how they bring the tasting to you. The views from the property are beautiful. read more

We sat and had a picnic with a bottle of wine. We loved our bottle and asked for a tasting, with full intention of buying $150 worth of wine to waive the tasting. Since we didn't have a "reservation" for the tasting, despite having been there for nearly 2 hours already in a mostly empty tasting room on a beautiful day, no tasting was "available." I checked us out and was asked if we wanted any bottles to take. "Well, no, we asked for a tasting so we could buy a couple hundred dollars worth of your wine, but we weren't able to taste any of it." An abysmal lack of business acumen. I'm not buying your wine if you say you cannot accommodate a $50 tasting. So unfortunate. read more

Wines - 4 Location/Ambience - 3 Service - 2 Value - 1 I've been to a couple of other $50 tastings recently at Daou and Brave & Maiden. Those places were great experiences with great service. Daou has their mountaintop tasting with a great view, and Brave & Maiden has their fancy new tasting barn. Peake Ranch doesn't really compare. The location and tasting area are rather mediocre, and the service was not good. The wines are pretty good, but there are other wineries nearby with good wine and their tasting is cheaper than $50. We had a rather strange experience. First of all, our host seemed like she really didn't want to be there. She was just kind of going through the motions, not smiling, rolled her eyes a few times. She was the only one working the tasting room but eventually another guy showed up who seemed like the owner. He said hello but then they walked off together and started having a heated conversation. I overheard some of it, so it was really awkward. Our host obviously wasn't happy. We were the last ones in the tasting room at the end of the day so they could've at least waited until we left, but we had to sit through that awkwardness. Not really what I expect from a $50 tasting. Not only is the tasting overpriced, but some of the wine is pretty overpriced too. They have a John Sebastiano vineyard Syrah for $75, but Ojai has a John Sebastiano Syrah for $40. And they taste very similar, I had just tasted the Ojai version a couple of days before. I did take home a couple of bottles of their Pinot Noir because it is quite good. But after this experience I'm definitely not coming back to their tasting room. There's plenty of better choices nearby. read more

We visited this afternoon and were basically turned away. I have no idea how good or bad their wines are. We showed up to the tasting room as walk ins. We sat at the bar as the only individuals there. There was a group outside but that's about it. I told the individual we were walking in and were interested in sharing a tasting. I let the individual know we are wine club members at another winery and they were highly recommended. He basically told us he couldn't accommodate a tasting and showed us on a map other wineries we might want to visit. At this point, I don't think I care how good you think your wines are. To turn us away and let us know we are welcome to try other tasting rooms is unacceptable. I'm looking to join another club on the trail But you gave me pause. This time on the tasting menu is a Bellis which I inquired and found its 70% Syrah, 20% grenache, and 10% pinot noir Tremendous balance of fruits and was yet another example of how this vinyard tries to do something different. The reason I keep gravitating toward this vineyards is that they are focused on making wine while others have corporatized and only focus making more. read more

This was our last stop of the day and it ended so beautifully with the warm and informative hospitality of Perry. I asked Perry to give me all the information he could as I was quite excited to learn about Peake Ranch, Santa Rita Hills and the wines from the area. He delivered! He brought us vineyard maps and showed off some really fun and interesting wines. My favorite of the tasting was the Bellis Noir, but also left with some Chardonnays, Pinot Noir and Syrah to bring back home. With emphasis on burgundies, their pinot noirs were solid. The Santa Barbara chardonnay was overly oaky while the pricier Peak Ranch Vineyard chardonnay was right up my non-oak alley. One might complain that the chardonnays reflect inconsistent winemaking or congratulate that the divergent chardonnays appeal to a wider range of palates. The "Bellis" red blend likely suits those who like sweet. The tasting room at Peake was not like a Wee Olde Taverne but a dramatic new tasting room with indoor and outdoor seating. The California poppies in the vineyards were also a nice touch. Because I dislike using Tock, I didn't make reservations but was accepted without delay in the tasting room on a Thursday. The $30 tasting fee for five wines was waived because we purchased over $120 in wine. read more

What a beautiful winery - the location is amazing. Wines are also really delicious. However I would not recommend this winery. I have worked in restaurants and no matter how great the food is, it's always about the front of the house. Our guide was knowledgeable enough but she was very impersonal. At $50 a tasting, the 6 of us bought a combined total of $450 in wine. She only gave us 2 free tastings. Any other winery in this area would have comped all 6, but at the very least would have given us one free tasting per couple. I felt like I got Napa'ed and was getting nickel and dimed here. We enjoyed the wines so much. We didn't even know how well we liked them until we headed to another tasting room, wines made from vineyards literally across the way and there was no comparison. Having Ben in the wine industry for a number of years I can say that I Highly recommend you not only check out this place to see the beautiful surroundings, but to enjoy their fabulous wines. No food is available, but you are allowed to bring your own to have there. Nice spot to visit as a couple or with family and friends. It's off the beaten path by only a few miles and worth the drive to enjoy the vineyards along the way. read more

This is a winery you will want to visit, located on Santa Rosa road it's on the tranquil side of Sta Rita Hills and I felt very tranquil while I was tasting their wines. Everything I tasted was delicious. I think my favorite was the Grenache from John Sebastiano vineyard. Perry was very knowledgeable about all the wines and winemaking and I got a peak into their new winery. The whole place is new and very nice. There are many spots to hang out and taste plus the setting and views are phenomenal. This should be on your list to visit read more

One of our favorite vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills. Their Syrah is a household favorite closely followed by their Grenache. We visited Peake Ranch last Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed our wine experience. Perry is always so delightful and attentive, by providing excellent service and wine - with a gorgeous view. We appreciated seeing Perry sanitizing the tasting areas, as guests left. This made us feel very safe, as we occupied our seats. We enjoy the Pino Noir's, including the Rose of Pinot Noir and Grenache. We have also enjoyed having wines shipped to our home, when we are unable to visit. My husband emails / calls Perry and we usually receive our wine in a couple of days. We look forward tonight next visit. read more

This was the second time we visited he winery...now they have a sign on the road :) The winery and tasting room are state of the art and beautiful! The wines are superb as well so kudos to the entire team! This place is a "sleeper" and will get super busy when more people find out about it. The staff is very friendly and accommodating as well. This was my favorite winery I visited on my most recent girls trip to the area. It's only been open a couple months and is such a hidden gem! Their wines were amazing and very worthy.
