We were out for a day trip and decided to stop at Vega for lunch and a glass of wine. We've been to a lot of restaurants and wineries, but this tops the list. The food was exquisite! We had an appetizer, wine, entrees, and dessert, and all were worth bragging about! Our server, Al, took very good care of us. There were several groups (bridal parties/ bachelorette parties) celebrating their special events and taking photos. After our meal we wandered through the property and encountered a petting zoo with mini donkeys, goats , peacocks, and emus! What a treat! The entire property is pristine and scenic. Vega has it all! In my day.. I have been to so many Vineyards & even a few Farms too. But this place.. Is a twofer! Yeah, baby! A Vineyard AND a Farm! Beat that Napa Valley! Ok, Ok.. I know Napa Valley is like THE Mecca of Wineries, at least in California, & going there once before, I kinda understand, kinda. But is it really that much better? In my humble opinion.. Ehh. It was whatever Sure, I'm down dropping a nice crispy Benjamin to get that aged, vintage 2013 Cab.. But will I really care, or even notice once that bottle is depleted & I'm now ordering the 2nd least expensive Chenin Blanc on the menu just to wash away all my worries. (Suddenly, Every wine snob, wine aficionado & novice sommelier enters the chat) But, But Lance, it's Napa, How dare you speak against this Holy Land of all Superior Wine. And to that I say, I get it. I truly understand that not all wine is created equally, but also that not all of us have the BIG BUCKS to continuously drop $100 big ones on that prized Napa Cab. It was a BEAUTIFUL November afternoon just 4 days prior to Thanksgiving. We were heading back south from Paso Robles & decided to make a little pit stop before getting all the way back home. So my wife looked up wineries in the area that were kid friendly & Vega was at the top of the list. Walking in, we noticed that they had a little restaurant right at the entrance, so we went to put our name down for a table. Unfortunately, the wait time was a little longer than we wanted to wait, only because we had the kids with us, but the hostess suggested if we didn't want to wait, that they had more food on the other end of the farm in "Pops Place". Other than the wine itself, eating the food in "Pops Place" was probably the best move we could have unintentionally made that day. (I'll explain in a bit) So we slowly made our way towards the other side of the farm/vineyard & all I can say is, what a gorgeous property it was. The farm life, the outdoors, the weather, & I was with my Fam. It couldn't have been a better day! Once we got to Pops Place, it was like we entered into a whole new world. A huge area for kids with a jungle gym, stations for outdoor games & activities, benches to sit, even private cabanas you can reserve (not sure if there is a cost) & of course a little shack to order food and wine! So remember earlier when I said eating in Pops Place was probably the best move we could have made that day, Well here are 3 reasons why! 1) We ordered the George's Greek Gyro Pita w/fries (a beef gyro with lettuce, tomato, onions & tzatziki wrapped in a pita) and.. OH. MY. GAWDDD It was so flippin' GOOD! It was so good, that I didn't even have time to snap a pic, let alone set it down after taking that 1st bite. It was complete perfection! 2) Chicken Strips & Fries from the kids menu w/a side of ranch.. Let's just say, The kids loved 'em. 3) We washed it all down w/a beautiful, crisp, perfect for a fall day, 2024 bottle of their finest ALBARIÑO. & it was, EXCELLENT!! After we sat & ate, let the kids get out all of their energy, the fun at Vega continued. From there, we headed to feed the livestock on the property (lettuce sold onsite for a few bucks). There were Chickens, Goats, Pigs, Emu's & Sheep, and the kids and myself had a blast feeding 'em. After that, we stopped off at one of their gift shops to browse all of the fun stuff. Of course, we got the kids their requested candy! The staff we interacted with while at Vega were all so kind, welcoming & made us feel apart of the extended Vega family. Because of this, we will definitely be coming back next time we pass through. So, & this is where YOU come in! Had a great family brunch at Vega Vineyard and Farm in Buellton and it checked all the boxes. The wine was solid across the board, easy to sip and perfect for a slow brunch vibe. With a little drizzle before it started raining again, we took advantage of the slight break in the wet weather. We walked around Vega vineyard and farm to get a few more steps in and enjoy visiting some animals too! We chose to pick up some wine and beer to drink while walking around the property instead of staying in one place to do a wine tasting. This property would be a cool spot to visit when the weather is nicer because it has so many things to do with such a large area to explore. The mercantile store has lots of merchandise and farm inspired goods in addition to lots of wine too. They do have vegetables to feed the animals which the kids were really enjoying. It was fun to see all the kids running around while the talked about and to the animals. Hopefully, we'll be visiting again with nicer weather so we can throughly enjoy their grounds, wine and more! What a wonderful experience! Came here for our 5 year anniversary and they treated us so well! From complimentary tastings to a free bottle of champagne to the incredible service, they truly made our anniversary amazing. The scenery is beautiful and the food is delicious! I had this vineyard saved in bookmarks for a while now and finally got a chance to stop by and check it out with my husband. They close late on Friday and Saturday evening so we got lucky. We had dinner here and some delicious wine. Very welcoming and friendly service by the hostess and waiter. We ordered meatballs Caesar salad and Cacio Pepe pasta that was amazing. The food tasted delicious. I had a glass of rose which I loved and had to take a bottle home. The grounds are beautiful. A very big vineyard which has animals on property. You can see sheep donkeys and more. So cute. They also have event space that has a gorgeous ambiance . There were two events happening while we were here. So beautiful. I can say this is a very family friendly winery so bring your kids and parents and uncles and have a great time here. Eat drink and enjoy. You won't be disappointed. This place is a MUST VISIT on your next trip to Buelton/ Solvang. They have live musicians playing both at the front restaurant where you enter, and also at the back area of the vineyard. The grounds are beautiful and it's FAMILY FRIENDLY, complete with a place to feed kids (goats;))and also a full blown play set and lawn toys. The wine was good but pricey for a bottle of rosé it was $40 something. But when in Buelton, it's worth it. It was crisp and tasty. I also got food from the restaurant. It was a Greek salad and zucchini fritters. The salad was loaded with goodness and fresh veggies, while the fritters were good but not at all what I'd envisioned. My kids got chicken strips from the little booth by the lawn, they were fine. Can't wait to visit this place again, great management and such FRIENDLY STAFF! read more

This was the highlight of my family's trip. The winery is truly so family friendly. We started a large group visit with a wine tasting and brunch at the restaurant on property. Our waiter/sommelier was so personable and kind. He was fun to talk to and still very knowledgeable. After that we snagged a few bottles and found a few tables tucked away for our group to chat while some of the babies napped and others explored. We loved the farm animals that you could feed. The lettuce for purchase was a huge hit. We eventually found our way to the playground and outdoor games. The kids loved the space. I think a smaller group than ours would have loved the cabana set up, especially if you knew you'd spend the whole day here with kids too. This was the final stop on our wine tour. We let then know we proffered dry red and they were kind enough to cater the tasting that direction. Each wine was presented as "fruit forward" but really didn't have much flavor, despite the final wine being their "must try" option. We felt a bit rushed as we were relaxing and talking and they would bring the next wine before most of us finished the previous glass. Limited menu with some variety, you'll find something here to try. l went with the GLT. think gyro with side of greek potato salad. The property is beautiful and features a beautiful garden area for seated wine tasting and they have a full kitchen as well as beer and cocktails for those that want a break from wine. What a delight wine tasting experience. This place deserves ample time to visit not only for the wine but strolling through the grounds. So much to see: garden, petting zoo, market place, great food and a playground for the kids. The decision of who to trust with your wedding day is a big one. Vega made it easy. From the second we started communicating with Jessi we knew we found someone special that we could trust without reservation. The initial tour sealed the deal. Jessi and Jimmy were responsive to every question and quick to make us feel like our big day was going to be something special. The communication throughout the process was genuinely noteworthy. Not only were we provided with updates, but everything was super clear and timely. We cannot say enough about how important it was to feel like everything was being handled and Vega made us feel like we never had to ask. We can't praise the venue and staff enough. Then the big day came -- wow. They exceeded our expectations in every way. We got married in the lawn bowling area, and it was perfect. The visual was just stunning. Our guests constantly commented on the natural beauty. As an added bonus, the space needed little adornment. Moving into the cocktail hour, everything was flawless. The staff were always around but stayed in the background, spotting little details and making sure everything ran perfectly. The team even provided us with our own little cocktail appetizer plate and drinks so we could taste what our guests had. The appetizers were even better than they had been at the tasting and our guests raved. The venue was absolutely stunning at night. We'd seen pictures, but seeing it in person was something else entirely. The food was also next level. We had multiple guests come up to us and let us know that they had never had better wedding food. The staff went the extra mile -- we can't express this enough. Over the course of the weekend, we got to know more and more of the team, and every single one of them took a genuine interest in making our weekend exceptional. Vega is such a unique spot with a full farm onsite - lots of cute animals that you can feed and a farm stand. Plus they have a whole kids area with a playground. There's also a ton of parking onsite and a few different event spaces. They get busy so a reservation I'd recommend many one beforehand just to make sure you get a seat. We visited for SYV Restaurant Week and it was an all around wonderful experience! Our table wasn't quite ready when we arrived so we waited at the gorgeous bar. We were sat at a table in the covered patio. It was a chilly night but there were lots of heaters. We ordered a wine tasting and the prix fix menu. Everything was delicious! We were camping at Flying Flags and were referred here. We e-biked to the property (1.5 miles) and got a great outdoor spot for 6 of us. We weren't planing on winetasting but wanted a glass of wine and apps or light lunch. I am gluten free so ordered the BEST potato leek soup. My parents got the lamb lollipops (4) and were SO happy! My husband got the cheese focaccia something tasting situation- anyway- we were all happy. Then we caught up with our teen kids that were exploring the farm and they had a blast. Fast forward to 5 hours later, Kelly from Vega brought the tasting room to our campgrounds for an intimate evening. We had SO much fun and I signed up for the wine club. We rented a cabana in Pop's Place for a private event and it was so awesome. Planning everything with Jessi made it super easy, and great to walk in to a space with everything set up before hand. Our server Arianna was amazing too! The Rosata was the favorite wine of the group. But the experience was too cool- from the $10 tractor ride, meeting Tai the Highland Bull, the animal area, and the giant lawn games in Pop's Place- it was perfect for our group to do something that wasn't just drinking wine (though we did plenty of that too!). Decided to drive down there and check it out. Super cute farm with animals. They let you stroll the property with your wine in hand. We showed up and we were pleasantly surprised to see they had some live music. They did ask if we had reservations which we did not. They still sat us right away. They first sat us under the shade and since it was a sunny day, I asked to be moved which they were quick to do. The hostess did inform us that we would have to be done in the next hour since there were reservations. I ordered the Vega farm butternut squash and kale flat bread which was amazing. I also ordered the roasted golden and red beet salad and added shrimp which I also loved! My friend wasn't fond of the food Or the experience. I just don't think it was her cup of tea and she also mentioned the vibe was off with some of the staff. Maybe next time I will make a reservation. My friend had a chicken salad and she didn't see anything else on the menu that she liked so we decided to just eat our appetiser and salads and have an entree elsewhere. They have a wonderful farm with lots of animals to get up and close with. Who doesn't love baby goats? And the wine tasting patio was okay, looks like they are in the process of expanding their kitchen and food offering. But we were there to taste wine, and this review is for the wine. Our server was attentive for the most part walking us through the tasting menu, and we rarely sat empty for much time throughout the tasting. His demeaner turned quite sour, however, when we indicated we were not going to buy any wine. It was light and day in terms of personality and left a negative end to our tasting. Then there are the actual wines. Very surprised to read other reviewers indicating the wines were good. We found them to be pretty awful and a couple of them were just rancid. I think folks get caught up in the atmosphere and don't really have a taste for quality wine. As a couple that drink a fair number of good wines, we can confidently say these aren't in that category. We will not be back, and we leave this comment only to share with the public that there are better options out there. read more

Today, Friday, we kicked off spring break with the kids out of school and decided to spend the day at Vega Farms. I always bring a bag with snacks, toys, and UNO cards for outings with the kids. Although Vega is advertised as being kid-friendly, our experience felt quite the opposite--and it seems we're not the only ones who feel that way based on other reviews. We ordered drinks for the adults (which aren't cheap--$8 for a beer and $12 for a glass of wine), and all four kids got ice cream at $5 each, with one also getting frozen cookie dough for $10. I don't mind paying those prices--I understand you're also paying for the atmosphere. We even went back for multiple rounds of drinks and food. After about an hour, the kids started getting bored, so I pulled out our UNO cards, coloring books, and a small bag of chips and candy. Shortly after, a woman--who I believe may be the owner or manager, as I see her there often--approached us and told us that outside snacks were not allowed. While I understand the policy, it felt excessive given how much we had already spent there. It was frustrating and honestly embarrassing to have her make a point of walking over just for that. Unfortunately, the interaction left us feeling unwelcome. Because of that experience, I don't see us returning. We'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

And they have a juicy, fun *sparkling* Barbera. Along with an excellent Malvasia Bianca and a range of other well made wines. Winemaker Steve Clifton knows Italian varietals. The food was equally excellent, under executive chef Christopher Rossi. Cavatelli cacio e pepe was perfectly cooked, tasty and comforting. Wine-braised beef short-ribs on a bed of sautéed greens and delicious orzo was a perfect paring with their Sagrantino. Because it was dark when we had dinner, we knew we had to come back in the daytime to see the animals and get more of their food and wine! The next morning, Sunday Brunch of shrimp and grits, and a Croque Madame - simply icing on the cake. Jimmy himself was there doing what involved owners do - walking around and making sure everything was working as it should. We found all the staff to be professional, kind and friendly. They knew their stuff, and worked smoothly together - the restaurant expertise shows. Wandering around and seeing the animals was a bonus. A perfect place to bring the kids, although we just brought our dog, who got lots of attention and petting from the staff. We visited Vega Winery in Buelton and became instant wine members! Jimmy who owns the place is George's son from the famous George's Greek Restaurants in Long Beach. They still have a restaurant in Belmont Shore who Nicki, Jimmy's sister runs. She told us about his new winery and let me tell you, the Italian Wines are spectacular but the food is the best of any Central Coast Winery! Literally! That's because Jimmy has 40 years of restaurant experiences! The lamb is amazing! The service fantastic! Especially Bob the wine person. The wild boar pasta was simply sublime and scrumptious! But their Italian reds are some of the best we've tasted on the central coast. From sangioveses to montepulciannos.
