After a night of drinking next door at Pulver's, I staggered into Peanuts for a snack & a chance to sober up before driving home. My server, a nice guy with a bushy beard & friendly smile, served me water and loaded tater tots. The cheese was piping hot and the bacon bits were perfectly cooked. Sour cream on the side added to the depth of flavor. Though the bathroom could have been nicer/cleaner, the food was perfect for a night on the town! Was looking forward to there wings but what a disappointment! They only had one bartender on a Thursday night. I ordered a pitcher of Michelob Ultra and it had no fizz or head and tasted like spoiled apple juice. I ordered a pitcher of Miller Light and it had little fizz but no head and tasted kind of flat. It was $11.99 for a nasty pitcher of beer when you can get a pitcher of beer at normal bars for $8.00. I ordered a salad that had more onions than lettuce, it seemed. We ordered extra crispy wings that came out gummy. We didn't even finish them. I could see on Wednesday wing night not being extra crispy, but when we pay full price for them, that is ridiculous! On 10-27-2020 I went to Peanuts Food & Spirit on 5731 St Joe Rd Fort Wayne, IN 46835. I arrived at 12:25 am, I was looking forward in buying garlic chicken wings. I met some friends and and sat at the bar. I asked told the lady that I wanted to order the garlic wings. She the states the kitchen is close and had up to twos of back order. I told her but you don't close until 3:00am. I decided to look at the reviews and some stated that Peanuts tends to close the kitchen early. I then asked to speak to a manager and a waitress and the lady told me you can complain all you want, do the lady that was I guess in charge at 1:00am called last round for drinks. The server was trying her best but after being there for 2hrs we had to reorder our food cause the grill blew up, had to eat a Stromboli that was barely cooked and had barley anything in it , our appetizers arrived after an hour and they had nothing to do with the grill. I refused to turn my stove on in this heat, that notion, in conjunction with the WoW email detailing free delivery for Peanuts this month perked my spirits right up. I was feeling almost like Drake!(pop culture reference - if you needed some clarity), free delivery and no cook Thursday, I was "all the way up". The rep at WoW took my Peanuts order and informed me it would be 60 mins before my thankful Thursday no cook would be complete. I patiently waited anticipating my cheeseburger. I felt like Gomer Pyle when it arrived, well surrprise surrprise. My glorious burger arrived looking like something out of Shrek, no for real for real. It was reminiscent of the scene where the dragon is trying to light up Donkey, just all the way wrong. I requested my burger be well done, I know it's not the preference of many, but it is mine. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box to find a thick piece of meat looking like a fresh turkey burger. No shade to turkey burgers, they just aren't my cup of tea. I was hesitant, but hungry. Those two things don't go together well, fear is irrational, so I dove right on in. I felt like I had a moist raw steel oatmeal burger that had been lightly seared in my mouth, yuck! Good wings and decent bar area. They have a shot called little beers that is the liquor 43 and cream on top. It takes like ice cream to me. They are usually $2-3 for the shot which is an awesome price for a tasty shot. Wing night is Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The hot ranch is delicious. We usually go here Sunday afternoon for darts and cheese nuggets. We have a good time, but if you're going for the darts, bring your own. They never have a decent set. The cheese nuggets are amazing tho. It's probably the main reason we go back. Got the wings on wing night and they were - meh. I could make better at home and there are much better places in the Fort to get them so if you're going for the wings, don't. It's not the cleanest of establishments, but when we went in tonight it looked like they were doing a little face lift and painting... We'll see how that turns out. If you're looking for upscale, this isn't it. If you're looking for a step above a dive, this is just what you're looking for. They are definitely busy on Friday Saturday nights. I don't think I'll be returning here again. Environment: the first thing that happened when I got inside was then I noticed there was a huge cloud of smoke! I asked my friend if this was normal and they said that it was. It honestly felt like they had not changed out the oil from a fryer, in the entire Place smells like it. The one thing that I can say positive about the environment is that I like the way the whole bar was set up. Service: can't say that I really like this place at all. The service was really really bad and my group did not get checked up on. And twice we had to go up to the bar. And it wasn't a get your own drink kind of bar it was just that the service was amazing inattentive. Product and food: I didn't end up eating anything here because it took too long to order. But I did get a picture of beer and noticed that on the rim of the picture it was all black! Meaning it was either A not cleaned or B there's residue where they keep it. Where do I begin?!? I hate not giving a great review but I have to be honest. That's what I'm on here for. I've been here more times that I can count. Some I remember and some I don't (wink wink) The wings flavors they have are so good! The garlic peppercorn and spicy ranch are 2 flavors I always get and I've never been able to replicate. When I show up there is the normal group of regulars about 10... and a total of 10 other people....20 people, so why I must ask, did I not get an answer when I called to pre-order?! Instead, I had to wait 20 mins for my order. Missing the comrades watching the game at home where I would have preferred to be, not to mention, like it or not we are still in a pandemic! The bartender was sufficient, but I will say if you can come into this place when the brunette bartender is here, do it she's awesome! Like someone from sons of anarchy perfectly placed in this amazing dive bar. Don't let this one star missing deter you. Just be prepared for the perfectly average service. My husband and I go here often. We have had a few times where the service wasn't great they seem to have different staff each time we go.‍ We typically have a good experience. The food is good the atmosphere isn't so great the tables are old and always sticky. This is definitely a little hole in the wall bar. We only really go on nights where the wings are on special. Would have given it 5-stars if it wasn't for the mishap with our server. Best wing sauce flavor I've ever had- called "Boom Boom". It's relatively similar to Parmesan Garlic at Buffalo Wild Wings, but is a thicker, more buttery tasting sauce. I ordered boneless, but received bone-in. Still amazing flavor. Peanuts is my friends and I's go to bar on the weekend or during one of the two wing specials nights (Tues & Thurs). Beer specials vary by night, but you'll typically never pay more than $6 for a pitcher. The boneless wings are amazing for the price and is what keeps us coming back. The music selection is interesting and appears to vary depending on the night and clientele. Sometimes they will have a DJ in playing Hip Hop and R&B, other times it will be hard rock coming from the Digital jukebox. And then there will be other times when it seems like there are 10 country songs in a row. I guess it keeps it interesting at least. Service is hit or miss, but most of the time the wait staff is very friendly. One in particular was very helpful with my wife's drink order in making it less expensive for us by explaining a particular way to order it. If you are tired of paying the high price for bdubs wings or one to try something new, definitely check this place out. It is one of the things I miss most about Fort Wayne and visit every time I go back. read more

Peanuts bring back a lot of memories for me. It was one of my favorite hangouts when I first turned 21. It was always a dump, but it was my dump. It was not my favorite dump, mind you. That distinction would go to Strazlo's (RIP, you sweet prince). Of course, the only reason my friends and I ever went to Peanuts was because of their wing special on Tuesday and Thursday nights. At the time, a million years ago, I'm pretty sure the special was $0.40 wings. They are now $0.59, which in 2017 is still a pretty good deal. I'm not sure why, but the price of chicken wings is through the f'ng roof. Is it because there are only two drums and two flats per chicken? Probably! That is quite a small amount of food for the slaughtering of an entire animal. What is crazy is how little Peanuts has changed in the 15 years since I first set foot in the bar (except you have to pay for peanuts now. WTF, guys!?). It still looks like the kind of place that would give Jon Taffer an aneurism. There are cheap paper beer decorations hanging on the wall, those laminated advertisements for crappy liquor no one wants sitting on the table, and shitty neon signs for even shittier beer lit up all over. Honestly, these are all signs of a bar that just doesn't give it a damn. What is surprising is how good their chicken wings are. A dump like Peanuts would be forgiven for treating their food (chicken wings included) as an after-thought, but they don't. They care a great deal for the quality of their wings. For my money, Peanuts has some of the best wings in the city. Anyway, on a recent Thursday my buddy joined me for some chicken wings. Although we had just eaten way too much food at Mr. Coney 5 hours previously, we decided it was a great idea to each order 10 bonelees and 10 traditional wings for dinner. First off, I would like to remark how awful the music inside Peanuts is. It's hard to blame the establishment, as they have one of those digital jukebox's that costumers pay to play the music of their choice. This says more about the clientele of the bar at the moment we were there, but needless to say, they had an absolutely terrible taste in music. It sounded like somebody took a Tap Out shirt and an American flag, stuffed it inside the jukebox, and pressed play. Picture a pickup truck just back from "muddin'" after the driver just swigged down a 30 pack of Natty Ice. As much as the Florida-Georgia Line and Kid Rock playing on the jukebox made me want to smash my face into the table, I persevered (I'm strong and deserve a medal) and ordered some wings. I ordered ten hot-ranch traditional wings and ten mild boneless wings. I know that sounds like a wussy move, but I love the mild sauce at Peanuts. It is one of my favorite things ever. If I could bottle it and take it home with me, I would (perhaps it is already bottled and they get it that way. If that's the case, I'm doing it wrong). I also got a side of bleu cheese with each order. I love the bleu cheese here. It's my second favorite in the city, second only to Buffalo Wings and Ribs (seriously. It is the best ever. They make it themselves and it shows). I don't know if Peanuts makes their own bleu cheese, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. It doesn't have the overly strong funk taste that bottled versions normally have. The main problem is they charge $0.59 per bleu cheese. That is a huge markup and really pretty crappy. They know morons like me are fiending for it though, and will pay the price, regardless if it is highway robbery or not. The wings were delicious, as they normally are. The one complaint I have, which I find happens here once in a while, is a couple of the wings were slimy instead of crispy. My guess is this happens because the wings here are pretty huge. It is harder to keep them all crispy as opposed to slightly smaller wings. It's not a huge deal, but it is a little gross. I don't know if they will cook them well done for you now, but I know back in the day they wouldn't do them extra crispy. They even ended up putting signs up saying they wouldn't (so, perhaps I'm not the only one with this complaint). This used to really irritate me in years past, because there were a few times where I got wings that had not been fully cooked all the way. This is disgusting and actually kind of dangerous. That will get you sick, son! I'm still having a hard time figuring out what is so hard about cooking some wings extra crispy if that's how someone wants them cooked. Luckily, this is a review about my current experience and not past experiences where Peanuts may or may not have been trying to murder me with salmonella. The biggest waste of money and time I have ever spent. I just wanted some bar food so my family and I head there about 730. We ordered around 745-8 o'clock. We got our food AT 9!!! when the waitress FINALLY brought it, she says "that was a lot of food they had to make" not "sorry about the wait" or anything. Half of it was cold and hard (my sliders and fries were not edible). She claimed she would take them off the check but when she brought the bill she didn't give us an itemized recipient and said she wasn't able to??? I will never go there again. The servers never get your order right, they overcharge you, and they take ages to bring you your food. The only reason I ever come here is because they still have some of the best hot wings in town. Went here on new years day because they were the only bar around open....always have had good experiences in the past and have no doubt their wings are amazing. This trip was different. Sat in the bar for 35 mins until a bartender came up to us and said if our party of 4 moved they would "be able to serve us better" so we moved because at this point we just wanted drinks or ATLEAST MENUS. My roommates go here after work all the time, and talk about how great of a time they have, so I decided to tag along Saturday night. My roommate and I arrived before everyone else, who we were waiting to get off work, at about 9:30. We get asked our befverages after about 15 minutes, and then received them (A pitcher that was on special, and a glass of water) about 15 minutes after that. It's pretty slow on a saturday night, and we're sitting by the pool tables. the rest of our party collectively arrives around 10:30, and it's another 15-25 minutes before they get drinks and we order our food. (We all got wings, since they were on special. Two of us ordered boneless) we waited from 10:40 to 11:25 to get our wings, and during that time our waitress was not on top of our drinks (everyone had a pitcher except myself and another person. When our food finally arrived, I was displeased to find that my wings were bone-in, although I always order boneless to avoid mess. We all ordered 12+ wings, and we given maybe 2 napkins each. Not to be discouraged, I banked on having a wet-nap scrub down afterwards. The wings, albeit bone-in, were good, I got the honey garlic & BBQ flavors. The waitress was very forgetful of our party of 8 people, which I'm not sure is possible, yet here we are. I finished, and was waiting on her to ask about wetnaps, but I abandoned that idea and went to the wash-room. she passed me, and I inquired about wet-naps to find that a restaurant that has Wing specials 3 nights out of the week does not have wet-naps. So to the sink i went. The bathroom itself was, in my opinion, complete disarray. It was messy; the trash can knocked over and spilled. Very surprising for an establishment that wasn't particularly busy. After waiting about 3 minutes for hot water in the bathroom, to no avail, I just did what i could with the cold water, and find out that the napkin shortage at the table should've been foreshadowing of the paper-towel strike in the bathroom. Thoroughly annoyed, I go back to the table, play some pool, and try to make the best of the night. She again, takes her time to forget about us, and then eventually gets our checks and payment within 15 minutes of each other. My check was 5.18, and I only tipped her .50. Yes, I'm aware that waitresses only make so much, and whatnot, but I've been on her end, and never forgot about a party of 8 guys that would've paid for so much more had she not been so neglectful. On a positive note, The food was good, albeit wrong, but very good, and my friends often frequent Peanut's, so I'm certain they'll be returning without me. I'm really trying to think of more positive things. I feel I did not set the bar too high. I came in one weekend for the wing special and to have a couple of beers, the waitress took my order and required that I pay and leave an ID before even seeing my meal. After asking why the change because this was new practice, we were told to do that so that we wouldn't run out. A guest in my party is handicapped and we were the only group she had in her section, WHERE WERE WE Going?! Even the security said that her request was unethical and unreasonable. By this time she walked up called the police and said she bagged our food. Not mine... before I left, I asked other groups about the new practice and no one was asked to give photo ID or payment before even eating. Typical local dive bar, nothing special about the decor. It was very dead at 8 pm on a Friday night. We ordered wings and I requested all flats and was told they could not fulfill that request. The wings were a little undercooked for my taste (making the skin rubbery and fatty), and the flavors of the sauces nothing special either.
