If you order ribs and fries for takeout, request the fries be put in a separate box. Unless you like soggy fries.

I'm a wing aficionado, so finding a place that specializes in wings was a complete score for me! I did not come to eat healthy or try the variety on the menu, I came for wings and this review is focused on that. First of all, I must complement BW&R in cooking the wings to proper doneness (places like BWW do not do this unless asked for "well done"). They also had plenty of sauce! #score The only thing I'd hope for next time is a better choice in beer and wine. Either way, I'm still coming back with an empty stomach and excited tastebuds!

buffalo wings and buffalo sauce

Wow, they really went downhill. Every time I come in here I think the wings get smaller and smaller. I asked the waitress if these were from pigeons? That's how small the wings were. As you can see in one of my photos, the flat is probably a half a bite worth of meat. Over cooked and dry. Such a disappointment! This place used to be so good. And the prices have doubled. It's now $14 for a 10 piece lunch. It used to be $7.99.

Good service and much more affordable than b-dubs. I really liked their French onion soup. Their chicken wrap was decent too.

Black Dog Pub (Covington Rd, Fort Wayne) - community bar with good food and charm…read more First time visiting the Black Dog Pub. I've avoided trying them because I'd heard they were always busy and had long wait times. On this occasion we had no wait even though they were really busy. I'm really glad we gave the Black Dog Pub a try. Black Dog is located in a strip mall at the Coventry Plaza. Parking can be deceiving - if the front lot is full then park out back. There is a small outdoor eating area which you will encounter as you go inside. The Pub has an inviting but small bar located right at the entrance. The restaurant will only seat about 50 dinners inside. The four person table is very small. Not much room for 4 water glasses, 4 drinks, 1 appetizer dish and four entrees - actually painfully small. On this night the outside temp was 90 degrees. The kitchen wouldn't make pizzas, calzones or grill wings when it is this hot (safety reasons). The team here was very friendly and helpful. They really hustled, kept the refills coming and served us well!! The menu is fairly large - salads, burgers, pizza, sausage rolls/calzones, sandwiches, subs and wraps. Something for everyone. All items seemed reasonably priced...and the ones we tried were delicious! Here is a run down of the food items we ordered: -Onion Rings: Black Dog says these are the "Best in Town". I'd say they were really good and worth a try! They start with a thick piece of onion and hand batter it with a very thick coating. Not too oily. Not much added flavor in the breading. Just an outstanding onion ring! -Side House salad: nice sized salad with a variety of side vegetables and cheese. Everything was fresh and tasty. -Cole Slaw: "Our signature Cole Slaw" better be good! The slaw has medium sized cabbage and carrot pieces bathed in a very light mayo sauce. The dish is slightly sweet with a little added seasoning. It comes off refreshing and cool yo taste. I really liked this signature dish. -Sweet Chili Chicken wrap: my wife had the wrap. The chicken was moist and tender. The char broiling gives it an added flavor coupled with a very mild sweet chili sauce. No strong after taste kick. She really liked the delicious wrap. -8 piece jumbo wings: on the appetizer section of the menu for $11.50. In the 8 order...there were probably more large to medium sized wings than jumbo wings. My teriyaki wings were lightly fried such that the skins only had a small amount of crisp. The inside was thoroughly cooked - no pink. Unfortunately, they might have been a little over cooked as they were solid white and a little tough/dry. The teriyaki sauce was thinner in consistency. They dipped the wing in a healthy amount of sauce. Much of it pooled in the bottom of the basket. It had a decently dark and bold teriyaki flavor with no spicy after kick.

Worn out booths, cramped bar area. Bar food similar to quality of Chili's, Applebees, etc. There…read moreare better local options for food and beverages.

We wanted to thus drink because it was traditional to do so, would be comforting, and we wanted to both celebrate surviving it, in the case of my mom literally. My favorite type of wine is Albariño, it is a white wine native to Portugal (where it is known as Alvarinho) and Northwestern Spanish region of Galicia. For those reading and interested, this is the taste profile according to The Spruce Eats: "Albariño is a dry white wine with aromas of citrus and peach. On the palate, the wine can exhibit characteristics of grapefruit, lemon peel, apricot, and sweet melon. Because the grapes tend to grow in coastal regions, they can also have a touch of salinity. Some wines may exhibit a slightly bitter finish, similar to citrus pith. Overall, albariño is light-bodied and low in tannins but high in acid. The high acidity makes this wine refreshingly mouth-watering and best served well-chilled." I used to have it quite often when I lived in Miami, but had become a difficult thing to find up here. I was in the past able to order a number of them through a local liquor store near my house, but that sometimes required large minimum orders and that can be a bit of a pain. So i started checking out or calling local liquor and wine stores in the area. I was about to throw my hands up and give up when I came into this Cap n' Cork. I made my way to the wine section and beheld albariño. So glad I finally found a place I can get some of this wine by the bottle. Excellent!

I grew up in Fort Wayne, but I moved away before I could take advantage of this location. Just went in for the first time about a week ago--and I'm so happy I did! When I first walked in, I was greeted by soemoen working--always a nice touch especially when I was looking for something specific for my mom. The man was super helpful, and after finding what I needed, I decided to check out the rest of the space. They have a staggering selection of wines and beers compared to many other places I've visited in Fort Wayne. And the selection in the place had many options that were locally sourced from Indiana, which is great if you're looking for new options made in the area! They had almost 2 fridge sections of just Indiana/Fort Wayne beers, which I love trying when I'm home from California. After picking out a local beer (Taxman), I wandered closer to the check out counter to find a tasting area! The man behind the tasting area said they are open everyday for tasting, and he also asked what I liked--and I ended up trying a limited edition Don Julio that had been aged in Scotch Barrels. It was fabulous and I would have never ever know this existed without his help! Loved my experience here and I can't wait to go back to try out more local options!

I heard it a side salad with salmon and it came out to me pretty quickly. The flavor was delicious, the salmon, well cooked, and the apple vinaigrette dressing on the salad was delightful. The biggest challenge, was a table with a few children sitting at it. This is no fault of the restaurant, and really, not even the result of my four-star rating. This is merely a statement: if your children are misbehaving and screaming and banging things on the table while other people are trying to eat their dinner, then perhaps the best option is to remove the children from the restaurant. It's always surprising to me when parents are selfish and subject everyone else in the vicinity around them to the poor behavior of their children. As a parent myself, I would never do that to other people. When you go out to a nice restaurant, you want to relax and enjoy the time not listen to tantrums from a three year old. Even the bartender in the servers were frustrated with this table. Some people even walked out after sitting down when they realize that unbelievable noise is coming from one table. The Hoppy Gnome (downtown Fort Wayne, southeast side of courthouse) - new food menu, you decide!…read more The old food offerings were the reason I came here and the reason I preferred not to come back. I loved the Cuban flavors, unique food items and the variety of tacos. Everyone loves tacos and The Hoppy Gnome did (still does, only 4 versions now) them well. However...after about a half dozen visits...I got bored with the same offerings. On line posters and most frequent customers (according to the manager) tend to favor the old menu. I, personally, found the change very refreshing and delicious! I will be back as there are lots of new things to try! The Hoppy Gnome is located downtown on the southeast side of the court house. You can park in the Citizens Center parking lot for free after 5pm. It is safe and right across the street from The Gnome. Making a reservation is easy on Open Table. I would suggest you do that versus walking in. The inside is still appealing with the bright and colorful industrial decor. They have a large private seating area for parties. They also have a street side outdoor patio. We sat outside on this summer evening. The area is spacious with solid high table furniture. People watching is fun but the traffic can be really loud at times. The new menu has a much broader appeal and less emphasis on Cuban only items. You will find lots of appetizer choices. Salads, burgers, flatbreads, pasta, seafood and chicken dishes are available. There are a decent number of specialty entrees and four varieties of tacos. All items pretty reasonably priced. Here is a run down on the food we ordered: -Chicken Flatbread: the crust was a little thicker than a normal thin crust and very soft; the manager said they really researched out this crust to fit their style; lots of delicious grilled chicken and toppings; very tasty! -Miso Honey Wings: 8 medium sized wings that are grilled and dipped; slightly crunchy skins; all white color on the inside but perhaps a little over cooked as the wing meat was tough and a bit dry; very unique sauce - very thick, sticky and rich in consistency; mild amount of sweetness and teriyaki flavors. The manager says about 70% of the people that order wings get the Miso Honey sauce. This dish was very good also! -Side salad: nice sized side salad; very fresh and attractive; no iceberg lettuce here - real greens; nice garnishment of carrots, cucumbers and roasted red peppers The team here was very friendly and professional - per normal. They hustled to serve. We particularly enjoyed sharing our experience with the manager and getting insight on the changes. Give the new menu a try for yourself!!
