Passion fruit tea with coconut jelly & passion fruit slush with pearls

I always come to Pearl fever for bubble tea on campus, because there are so many different drinks on menu, they have a rewards program, your order is customizable, and the quality is great! Some of my favourites include black twist, matcha ice cream, passion fruit tea (when I'm feeling something light) and green milk tea. Service here is super good as well. Definitely join their rewards program (free first drink & on your birthday) and try different things on the menu!

Taro slush and honey milk tea

I was pleasantly surprised with my taro slush. I had previously had a bad experience with pearl fever tea house and hadn't come visit in the last year. Today I went for a quick drink and ordered the fresh taro slush with added fresh taro as a topping. (If you can't tell I LOVE fresh taro). The drink was large with lots of fresh taro blended into the milk slush. Each sip of drink came with nice tiny chunks of taro. The fresh taro at the bottom was small pieces of taro instead of the typical mashed taro at stores like baroness or coco. It gave the drink a nice texture, almost like a little snack! For 6.30 cad, it was a really worth it drink. My boyfriend got the honey milk tea with boba, it's sweetened with honey instead of sugar (I assume it's a little healthier). I was so surprised by how flavorful the drink was! The honey is such a nice addition and the milk tea was super creamy and sweet! The boba on the other hand was quite hard and a much lower quality in comparison to stores like xingfutang. I would definitely order the drinks but avoid the boba!! Pearl fever is a great store and a nice addition to the UBC community! I will definitely be back !

Good flavours and plenty of seating. Service is quick and efficient, and the place is quite clean and well maintained. Great spot to grab bubble tea nearby UBC.

Pearl Fever is the best place on campus to get your bubbletea kicks. Located at University Village, just on the other side of Damask, Pearl Fever is a great place to meet friends after class and just enjoy some good old bubbletea. They have a small seating area in one corner with a couple comfy couches, although these are almost always taken. There are a couple small tables, but most of the other seating consists of tall tables with bar stools. In the summer it's nice to sit outside at one of their umbrella tables. They have a large menu with different varieties of bubbletea, but the sweet purple taro is always my favorite here. Many of their drinks are made with the sweet powder mix rather than the real fresh stuff, but it's still just as good. They also have snacks available, mainly sweets like cheesecake and tarts. It'd be nice to see them start serving hot foods like noodles or something, making the place even more enticing for tired students at the end of the day. Still a great place to relax with friends though!

BBT barista was chill. I had the matcha ice cream slush with pudding. Nothing spectacular and the sweetness level was good. I like that they have a rewards app. A bit out of the way though. Hopefully they'd open one in the city. It gets pretty packed at dinner time. There's one communal table and one or two smaller tables for private groups of two or four.

I like this place! It's close to campus, so convenient for me, and better than the awful place in the SUB. I had the Banana Chocolate smoothie type drink and I really liked it. My partner had a milk tea and it was good, you could taste that it had actually tea in it, not just powder.

This turned out to be a fantastic choice, since we had the opportunity to have a warm, spontaneous conversation with Wilson Lee, O-Cha owner and active Yaletown business/community member. I had read previous Yelp posts about the Cold Blaster, but instead decided on the Mocha Chai and Alex ordered the Candied Rooibos. Both beverages were outstanding. This is what I call a pocket cafe. Bright counter seating facing Homer, perfect for watching passersby. Of which, Wilson definitely had his regulars while we warmed up in his cafe. Their usual crafted beverage made promptly, a quick exchange, and then that person's back on their way. My question about how long has this shop been in business ended up as a memorable conversation with Wilson. He shared the details about his business, the Yaletown community, social media, travel, urban growth, his hilarious anecdote about his favorite izakaya place on Denman, and a future trip to Asia for a wedding. There was such a rapport, that we were given an open invitation to a community event Friday evening. Sadly, we weren't able to do so since we departed VanBC a day earlier due to snow. We commented on him on our drive home earlier today (2/23/18) that coincidentally we'd pass signage along I-5 South, that would say Wilson. Too cool. Small cafe, but full of warmth and genuine community pride. Yes, I was able to warm up with tasty tea, get free updated maps and travel brochures while there. But left with a lasting impression and the desire to return to Vancouver, BC much sooner than later. Thanks, Wilson! O-Cha Tea Bar in Yaletown - Highly recommended!

The tea flavour is quite delicate, with options to substitute the milk and adjust the ice and sugar levels for certain drinks. Those who are lactose intolerant can rejoice because the oat milk substitution is free! Further, some drinks are caffeine free and available hot. It looks like there is only one size for drinks though. If you do opt for pearls, I find that Cha Yuan's have a nice chew/QQ to them. So far, I've only tried the milk teas and lattes, with my favourites being Matcha Latte ($6.50) with Coffee Jelly (+$0.75), Hojicha Milk Tea ($6) with Grass Jelly (+$0.75), and Brown Sugar Pearl Latte ($6), all substituted with oat milk. Cha Yuan is more of a grab and go, but there is some bar seating by the window should you choose to stay longer. Usually, there is only one staff member - at times, two - attending to both the till and the drinks, so there may be a slight wait. That said, the service is great, as is the quality of the drinks.
