I'm pretty confused by the wide range of reviews here, so I'll give it my best shot - The chicken korma was the best chicken korma I've ever had. It was sweet and savory and creamy and cozy. You cannot beat the special that comes with naan, an appetizer (I got samosas and it came with 2!), and a main dish. I also couldn't help myself and ordered the saag paneer. The saag paneer was different from what I've had before but tasted like it was made with fresh spinach. It was good. I will maybe try something different when I order from them again but this will absolutely be my go to Indian spot. I do notice that inside is relatively slow (when I walk past) and I hope this business keeps thriving. It's not only BYOB, but if you eat in store it's 50% (!!!) off. Other reviewers mentioned the unfriendly staff, and while the man who helped me was far from rude, he wasn't overly friendly. This didn't bother me as I was getting takeout but I can definitely see how some might not appreciate it.

While walking with my nephew, we spotted a cozy restaurant on the corner of Franklin and decided to try it. The host was welcoming, and the ambiance was warm with soft lighting. We ordered chicken tikka masala, shrimp curry, garlic naan, and soda. The food was delicious--perfectly balanced flavors, fresh ingredients, and generous portions. We enjoyed it so much that I went back twice, once with friends and again for takeout. I wasn't a big fan of the lamb. Excellent service from the staff.

Food was average. Was planning to give 1 star but wasn't that horrible so I raised the star to 2 . I didn't like their service at all. The man didn't welcome us properly, he didn't even tend to come to my table. He went to 1 table quite often to check how their food was going on but didn't come to my table after taking order. Literally went to other table 4-5 times but not even once to my table like seriously!!! Was my bad experienced so far.

Wrong entree item from my special order

Good good and service in person. This time I ordered via GrubHub and I received the wrong entree item. I ordered Salmon Curry but they sent me Beef Curry or some type of meat. I don't not eat Meat, Pork or Beef!!

The withered yellow broccoli in the slightly rancid biryani

Used to be a fairly reliable place, if not spectacular, but it seems to have lost its standards. The food we got from them tonight was pretty lousy. Most of it seemed reheated and not fresh. The samosas were slightly stale. The rice was hard. The biryani tasted off, as if the ghee used was slightly rancid. And ingredients were either missing or not of good quality. Attached is a photo of the withered, yellow broccoli in the biryani. This was our last time with Pearl- it's not good to pay for food that you immediately want to throw away.

While our server was prompt, he lied about the food. I asked him about a curry crab dish on the menu he said that it included REAL crab. When my food arrives it was a bowl of curried IMMITATION crab meat. The rice arrived COLD and there were a bunch of fruit flies hovering at our table. Our even landed on our food.

They overcharge, and the food isn't good. I ordered a lassi, and they charged me too much for it.

The food was beyond poor, the ingredients were not fresh, the cooking level was underwhelming, and overall not worth what they charge.

The second time I went I had vegetable fried rice, callaloo, cabbage & kale with a lentil patty. The lentil patty was flaky, crusty goodness. I wish I could bring this place back to AZ with me because we really need some real West Indian restaurants there Since it's so close to the house I'm probably going to just eat here every day until I leave

I had the eggplant, curry Chana, pumpkin, rice and peas and collard greens. All well cooked and well seasoned! Depending on what you want to eat, I recommend everything I just listed and they had more sides, from okra to spinach rice and more. Visit to find out and give them a trial. Brooklyn has great spots! Namaste is becoming my favorite place on Cortelyou…read more First, it's quiet and chill. You're not crowded around people, it's never loud, and it's family-friendly. The servers are so so nice. One time I ordered a drink (the passionfruit mule is delicious) and the server told me to try it and please let her know if it was ok, because the person in charge of drinks hadn't started her shift yet. She really wanted to make sure I liked it. As for the food, I don't know Nepali food that well, so I can't judge it against the full cuisine. I always get the thali (I change up the protein) and my friends always seem to get the jhol momos. Both are absolutely lovely and keep me coming back. The thali's protein portion is small, I'll say - last time I got the veg (tofu) and it was positively tiny, maybe about 3 oz of diced tofu. But I still love supporting this place because they're genuine, nice, and it's just a great vibe in our neighborhood. If you don't know Nepali food, I wouldn't let that intimidate you - it's very mild compared to Indian food and the servers will help you. The momos are very much siblings of chinese dumplings, so that's an easy order if you're not sure which way to go. I also appreciate that the mocktails are around $8, not like $16 like so many hipster places these days!

The ceviche was probably the best ceviche I've ever had in my life. It was blood orange based, but the citrus was really well balanced. The king oyster mushroom dish was soo delicious. The sauce and the texture of the mushrooms were to die for. I've salivating thinking about them right now! The fish was also so amazing. It's a beautifully designed space, and we went in the evening so it was dimly lit and had good tunes, contributing to an intimate and cool vibe. The service throughout was good both by our primary server and the rest of the team that was bringing out dishes. For the food, we did not feel that it was a strong start, but the ending was great! The first dish to come out was their cornbread, which we agreed was very light and had a super tender texture, but there was just nothing special about the taste profile to us. The second dish were their prawns. We couldn't put our finger on the off-putting flavor in there, but we agreed that something just wasn't right and almost tasted spoiled. You also had to work a bit to dissect the prawns and remove the heads and skin. To work for it and then not enjoy the taste wasn't a great combo for us, unfortunately. It started turning around with their sweet potatoes, a type I'd never had before that were "baby" and purple on the outside while white inside. They served the potatoes with a gorgeously whipped Greek yogurt that added the exact right amount of tang to balance the sweet potato and the herby topping. The stars of the night were the coconut basmati rice and the lamb shank. My goodness! The rice dish was so complex from a flavor and texture profile and just hit all the right notes for us, and that lamb! Definitely one of the best lamb dishes I've had - Impossibly tender and seasoned to perfection. One other note I'll make regarding drinks is that they did not have a strong wine list. I ended up ordering a red, but later heard our waiter recommend against getting their wine to another table and suggesting their cocktails and mocktails instead. Just something to keep in mind if you're a wine lover!
