I'm pretty confused by the wide range of reviews here, so I'll give it my best shot - The chicken korma was the best chicken korma I've ever had. It was sweet and savory and creamy and cozy. You cannot beat the special that comes with naan, an appetizer (I got samosas and it came with 2!), and a main dish. I also couldn't help myself and ordered the saag paneer. The saag paneer was different from what I've had before but tasted like it was made with fresh spinach. It was good. I will maybe try something different when I order from them again but this will absolutely be my go to Indian spot. I do notice that inside is relatively slow (when I walk past) and I hope this business keeps thriving. It's not only BYOB, but if you eat in store it's 50% (!!!) off. Other reviewers mentioned the unfriendly staff, and while the man who helped me was far from rude, he wasn't overly friendly. Before covid I used to stop by here every few months for takeout. I really only ordered their meal specials which incude 1 appetizer, 1 entree, basmati rice, and naan. It wasn't superb but it was never bad either, just always consistent and tasty enough for me to keep going back. Last week was my first visit since 2019 and I won't be back. They must have a different chef because it was pretty awful. I ordered the special with a boti kebab appetizer and chicken tikka massala entree. The boti kebab consisted of about 4 chunks of lamb.....2 of the pieces tasted OK and the other 2 tasted really off as if the meat was going bad. The chicken tikka masala had a very thin consistency and was soooo sweet it was like they dumped an entire bag of sugar in it. Even the naan was questionable - it seemed doughy and undercooked and didn't have the typical char marks. They also charged me a fee for using a debit card. I don't know how this place stays in business. Every time I walk by it's empty inside and has been like that ever since they opened. I've never seen more than two tables occupied at a time, even on a Friday or Saturday night when other nearby restaurants are packed. read more

While walking with my nephew, we spotted a cozy restaurant on the corner of Franklin and decided to try it. The host was welcoming, and the ambiance was warm with soft lighting. Take out order review: Disappointed, gobi manchurian tasted like microwaved battered cauliflower with thick tomato sauce on it even thicker than the tikka masala. Honestly decided to discard the gobi after 2 bites. Had better expectations of paneer tikka masala, sauce was more of a watery or soupy consistency, with just a small handful of pieces of paneer in it. Oddly, paneer tikka masala had more slices of onion than paneer, and lacked flavor, tasting more like canned tomato soup than a masala... which was a first for me. This is a pretty decent Indian place in the area! First things first: it's BYOB! And there is a really amazing wine store right near by, so take advantage of that. I ordered the chana saag, the lamb rogan josh, and some garlic naan. I asked for both curries to be as spicy as possible. They weren't that spicy, but both were still pretty good. The consistancy in the saag was great and the food with a large portion of rice as well as the naan (which, although not too garlicy, tasted great). It also came with a free appetizer! The portions on everything but the naan were pretty small though, so you might end up having to order more food than anticipated. Overall, the food was decent and the service was friendly. No, it isn't the best Indian food I've ever had, but it's also far from the worst. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but would come back if I was in the area. read more

Used to be a fairly reliable place, if not spectacular, but it seems to have lost its standards. The food we got from them tonight was pretty lousy. Most of it seemed reheated and not fresh. The samosas were slightly stale. The rice was hard. The biryani tasted off, as if the ghee used was slightly rancid. And ingredients were either missing or not of good quality. Had a delicious dinner on a Saturday night! Mohamed was very friendly and helped guide our ordering decision. The inside of the restaurant is not super fancy but hey the food is really really good so I guess that helps! We started off with 2 appetizers: ginger shrimp and the assorted vegetable critters. The ginger shrimp was delicious but only came with 3 shrimps and lots of sauce - I wish I could have like 4 servings of this!! The critters were pretty good too but if I were to order again I would just double up on the ginger shrimp. For our entrees, my parents and I split: palak paneer, chicken tiki masala and the crab biranyi. OMG so good. I loved each dish. I was surprised but we barely had any leftovers to take home it was that good. Although we were all full, we had to try the pistachio ice dessert. It tasted like a gelato but with a slightly less sweet aftertaste. It's great to new this place will be a fabulous addition to the area. Got takeout and it was so good and so much food! The dinner special came with two large samosas. I got the chicken vindaloo which was so spicy (in a good way). Should have gotten a side of the yogurt sauce. The garlic naan was so spongey and soft and huge. The meal came with rice too. I'm sorry. I am no longer a fan of this place. I have tried really hard to give this place the benefit of the doubt. I don't understand what is it I've done wrong to earn the dismissive and rather disrespectful behavior of the man who seats people and takes their orders. My partner and I were coming to this place regularly and it seemed like a good place. We even chose this place for dinner for our anniversary last year. I started noticing that his behavior toward my partner seemed ok but it seemed rather dismissive with me. He acts as if ordering was a problem though I only order the chicken curry. Tonight seems to confirm that he treats me very poorly as if I've done something to him. He told us we were free to sit at a table and the place we chose to sit. The spot we chose my partner and I were asked to move because they wanted the spot free for a party of 6. I move our seat across from the table and didn't make a fuss. Literally 5 minutes after we move a couple comes in, says "party of 2" and he sits the couple exactly in the same spots we were asked to move from. I decided that after giving him the benefit of the doubt on days he seemed as if he didn't want to be bothered when we came there I just decided to leave. As my partner was the first to leave and I gathered my things he walked straight by me out the door and went right to my partner to ask her what had happened completely ignoring me. She politely told him that it was very overcrowded and that we would be back another time when it was less crowded only for him to say "ok." Raise his hand in a dismissive manner and walk off. I don't feel entitled at restaurants. I know sometimes people who work in restaurants have bad days but there is nothing my partner and I do negatively to warrant this rather negative behavior. I would have a little more respect if he just said he didn't like me in his establishment. It just kinda seems messed up to act this way towards me. The food is good but if is what I have to put up with then I will just take my business elsewhere to any Indian restaurant that won't treat us this way. I love this place. Their meal special includes an entree, some jasmine rice, an app (samosas every time, of course) and a piece of naan. Their naan is really good, which is the hallmark of a good Indian restaurant in my opinion. And their curry and korma are both really delicious and have become regular go-to's of mine. Easily some of the best Indian food in Brooklyn. Yes, I KNOW. Hard to believe... amiright? We were a little suspicious. The name, for example. "Pearl Indian Food". Everyone knows Chinese chefs have been taking over the taqueria business. Maybe this was a foray into Indian-Chinese restaurants? And the menu has some, what some may call, bizarre items. Who ever heard of Angel Hair fettuccine or Shrimp Lingueni (sic) at an Indian restaurant? Well, the food is fantabulous. The bad news? The decor is somewhat of an eyesore; looks cheap. Also, I believe the reviews that the service is poor and slow, but every restaurant has growing pains. Finally, the prices are unrealistically high. I'm not one to fret over high prices when I enjoy a meal, but even I felt a little tang of "ouch", which means this will be a major turn-off with other people in the neighborhood. They will have to lower their prices or else change the decor to match their price point, otherwise, they may not be here for very long. Appetizer ======== Samosa: A One of the best samosas I've ever had. The outside shell was crispy. Not even a hint of old oil, staleness or soggyness. Filling was fresh and vibrant. Scrumptious with mint chutney. Ragri Petes: B+ Two potato patties and the bottom is some kind of grain I can't identify. The potato patties are fried and spiced quite nicely with pepper, mustard seed, and some other spices i can't identify. Maybe hing. The whole thing is great. Make sure you have enough chutney -- great with mint chutney! Gobi Manchurian: A+ Doesn't sound good, but it's one of my favorite appetizers ever. Cauliflower fried in batter in a semi-sweet sauce (I usually hate sweet sauce!). It's to cauliflower as KFC is to chicken. Ka-Chori: A- Flour flat pastries (I wouldn't call them puffs as the menu does) stuffed with yummy lentils on a bed of chutney and chickpeas. Delicious vegetarian appetizer. Seekh Kabab: A+ This dish was invented by a chef of an Indian prince who had serious tooth pain. He was told to create a meat dish that the prince could eat without pain or else face execution. Hence, this is a VERY soft meat dish. If you're familiar with middle eastern food, think of a Kafta Kebob with savory Indian spices Vegetable Pakora: A+ I'm always massively disappointed by pakoras in NYC, but these are perfect! The Garam flour is fresh and zesty. The pakoras are not overly oily; they still have crunch to them. There's a high crispy outside to vegetable ratio. Blends perfectly well with, and is the perfect vehicle for, mint or tamarind chutney. Dal Soup: A Spicy and tangy. Definitely more complex than your average Dal soup. Chicken Soup: A+ I've always admired Indian chicken soup. The spices may be foreign to the palette, but its base is unmistakable. This soup is heavy on the fat, very light on the salt (it's unsalted, in fact). Chicken Wings Bffalo (sic): C Slathered with sugary American BBQ sauce. Ick. Tandoori ======== Chicken: A+ This might have been the best tandoori chicken I've ever had. The meat was very soft and juicy. The tandoori flavor was very strong (many tandoori chickens I've had were dry and didn't have a particularly strong tandoori flavor). The dish comes with a lot of "soft vegetable stuff" which probably helps keep the chicken moist and juicy. Chicken ======= Chicken Tikka Masala: A+ Chicken was succulent and the masala sauce is one of the few masala sauces I've had where you can tell it's a "tomato cream" sauce, rather than a "cream sauce". Lamb ===== Lamb Korma: B+ The korma sauce itself wasn't the creamiest korma I've ever had, and they put pineapple in it (I'm not overly fond of pineapple in food b/c it's too sweet for my tastes). Still an excellent buttery entree. Rogan Josh: A Very well spiced. If you like an aromatic rogan josh, you'll love it. Aromatic and rich. Excellent meat-to-sauce ratio. Sauce has character: chunkyness (I've had soupy rogan josh in the past and it's always a bummer). Acjaru Lamb: B+ You won't *see* the pickles; they've been cooked down or minced. I was hesitant since I'm not a huge pickle fan, but it was great: spicy and tangy. More salty than I'm used to, but otherwise great. Lamb was soft and had just the right amount of fat. Chicken ====== Chicken Saag: A Very succulent and tender chicken. Saag was a LITTLE bland which gives it a more creamed spinach than saag feeling. Still worth an A rating! Beverages ========= Mango Lassi: B+ Above average. Side Order ========= Mint Chutney: A- I wish it were just a tad hotter, but the flavor is fantastic. Dessert ======= Gulab Jamun: A- Doughnut balls were excellent but not the best I've had. They might have been a tad old. I can't tell (perhaps I should've warmed them up). I've been dreading writing this review...2 stars is generous, but I really don't want to give this family owned shop 1 star. I'm so confused by the reviewers who are giving this place 5 stars. I got food to go, and my house is just around the corner. The naan was just bad. Not fluffy and light and buttery like I'm used to. Instead, very heavy and doughy and dense. Their rice was fine. The yogurt (raita) was mediocre. The samosas were good, but like, I've had samosas that good before. They weren't out of the ordinary. For main I got the Chicken Makhani because she said it's like butter chicken but it's not. I hope their other food is better than the Makhani, and I just ordered something bad. I don't think I'll be returning to give it a 2nd chance though. If you're going to go anyway, stay away from the Makhani, and if you get a naan maybe get one that's not plain, it might be better than what I had. read more

I met a bunch of friends here for lunch, unaware that they have a lunch special offering 50% off of everything on their menu. Everything! We ordered several dishes to share family style including Takar Dhal, Dhal Makhani, a spinach lamb dish, eggplant, stuffed potatoes in curry, several naan and paratha as well as samosas for an appetizer. Everything was delicious. At 50% off, the portions were surprisingly plentiful and we all left stuffed, satisfied and with a new place on our list of restaurants to return to! I am always a stickler for service and the one man working there at the time, was very friendly. He could have been more attentive, but that had no effect on the speed of service. I really enjoyed the mango lassi enough though it was a little too sweet. The food portions here are pretty small, so be sure to order an extra dish.
