The most basic pedicure was $30, and it felt completely rushed. My cuticles were barely trimmed, and the overall quality just wasn't there. No one was friendly or engaging, and the only time they spoke to me was to try to upsell a $6 callus removal. A few quick swipes later, my heels are still rough, so definitely not worth it. To make matters worse, my nail tech was on her phone during my calf massage and even took a phone call. That felt incredibly unprofessional and made an already disappointing experience even worse. It honestly feels like if you're not spending a lot of money, you're not going to get good service here. I don't expect luxury treatment, but I do expect basic care and professionalism. The overall vibe of the salon just felt off and uncomfortable, which made the experience even worse. At this point, this is the 8th nail salon I've tried in my area, and I'm still searching for one that delivers consistent, quality service. If anyone has recommendations, I'm all ears.

Unfortunately, over time, the quality of service has significantly declined. On multiple occasions, my acrylic overlay was not fully cured, and once, the overlay started peeling off my nail. The same issue occurred with my toes, where the gel polish wasn't fully cured. Although they tried to fix it, the problems persisted. Most recently, my acrylic overlay began lifting again, and instead of properly fixing it, the technician filed down my natural nail and applied gel on top, claiming it would help. Unfortunately, this only resulted in my nail breaking -- and it was a nail I had been growing out for a long time. My nails take a long time to grow, so I was very upset by this. To make matters worse, they also over-filed my nails to the point where I now experience pain and am unable to get them done. After several calls to inform them of my issues, they did attempt to make repairs, but the solutions didn't resolve the problems, and it became repetitive to keep asking for fixes. I also want to mention that after I raised concerns, the staff didn't seem happy about the feedback, which made me uncomfortable. This negatively impacted my overall experience. I spoke with the owner a couple of times, and while she encouraged me to return and give them another chance, I've reached the point where I feel it's no longer worth it. This last visit was the final straw. I even told the technician that if they needed to take a different approach to ensure my nails would last, they should have communicated that with me. After all, they are the professionals. Until they address their staff issues and improve their service consistency, I will not be returning.

The last two times I've been (once in December, once this week) have been terrible. I don't know the name of the lady who did my nails those times but she did not do a good job. She is not gentle, caused me to bleed on EVERY SINGLE FINGER (see attached photos), the gel is thick and lumpy, and she doesn't talk to me or offer me a drink or anything as the other reviews describe. Another weird thing is when the younger girl did my nails, it was always $40 even for dip. But somehow when this other lady does it , it's $47? Even on my natural nails? You literally will not find better prices than Top Star Nails, or at least I have yet to do so…read more Sure, it's no thrills - you'll be offered a beverage, but it's not going to be alcoholic like some top-of-the-line salons - but the service here is awesome. I walked in and didn't have to wait at all to be seated. The lady at the front was very helpful and kind and did not pressure me to hurry up as I struggled over what nail color I wanted (if I'm paying for it, I better love it, right?). Lisa ended up giving me a full set of acrylic nails with a gel manicure, and did a fantastic job; the best part was that the entire manicure probably took less than 30 minutes. From what I remember, they offer a student discount, so be sure to bring your student ID in with you if you're a college kid. I think I paid about $30 total for a full set of acrylics with gel polish - $15 less than the nail salon just a few blocks away. Maybe it's not as "aesthetically pleasing" as other more expensive salons, but at the end of the day I just want my nails to look good without breaking the bank, and Top Star Nails delivered.
