I was greeted with a smile by the receptionist and immediately given papers to fill and walked into the exam room. Dr. Clegg was friendly and thorough in his examination asking me questions regarding my health and eyesight. He also dilated my eyes to check my eye health. The exam took only about 20 mins. The place was clean and tidy and he made sure to wipe down all equipment before it's use on me. I had no insurance but paid an out of pocket cost that was below the average (under $100) of other eye exams in the area. He said I had pretty good eyesight but was a little far sighted in my left eye. I'd had cataracts so my lenses were replaced in 2021 and I've been using readers (2.50) for reading. (I had never worn glasses till then.) He said I would be fine to keep using them and did not try to up sell me but gave me a prescription in case I changed my mind. Because of his honesty, integrity and low cost, I will be retuning in the future. read more

Good God....where do I start. Elizabeth The"manager". The customer service here is nonexistent. It all started with a combative "manager " telling me the benefits I have had for over six years were not my benefits. After talking down to me, she quickly called my insurance and verified that I have two policies. No appointments needed, we all make mistakes, but this "manager" managed to keep a chip on her shoulder during the whole experience. I picked out three pairs of glasses, my insurance covers three pairs, but she had an issue with the third pair. she stated my insurance won't cover them. So I gave them a call and requested an explanation of benefits. My insurance covers anything in the store up to $225, anything over is out of pocket. The "manager" was present for the explanation of benefits, acknowledged what my provider explained, but then explained that it was their company policy for those particular glasses. It doesn't make any sense. If you need eye care, go elsewhere. These "front of house" employees are poorly trained and give off the impression that they do not like their job. We are all struggling to afford anything right now, you do not need to make life harder for the next human because you hate your job. I hope things get better for you read more

I got my glasses here last year. The sales associate was helpful and lead me to a pair of glasses that looked great on me. A year later, however, one of the lenses popped out of my glasses and every time I call to get answers about repairs, no one answers and I can't leave a message. I contacted Pearle Vision through their website and explained I couldn't get through to the store. The person at Pearle Vision that responded just said that I needed to call the store. This was frustrating and I wish they had better customer service. read more

Two stars are for the optometrist only. He likes Hall & Oates, and gave me a decent exam. I then made an appointment for my kid because of the location being super convenient for us. And here is where my fun time at Pearle ends. The receptionist has the skills and charm of a hormonal pre-teen. She didn't call my insurance company in a timely manner to coordinate bennys. Wouldn't track down the right information- just gave up and cancelled my kid's appointment. I called my insurance company to verify coverage, and then called the sassy pants back. She had the nerve to tell me I needed to "talk to a human there" to verify benefits, which I did, thankyouverymuch. I was told I couldn't reschedule at that moment, and she needed to call me back at the end of the day. She never did call me back. Dr. Hall & Oates made excuses for her shortcomings when I called to inquire about finally making an appointment. What should have been one-call-one-appointment, turned into a week and a half long drama. She also failed to bill my insurance correctly. I received an EOB stating they double-billed. If this sounds like a fun and convenient way to get an eye exam, then this Pearle Vision will satisfy you in every regard. read more

If you have RGP contact lenses (rigid gas permeable) you may have noticed it's harder and harder to find an optician or optometrist who will clean and polish them for you. I've had RGP's over 40 years (not the same pair) and have called all over the Portland area trying to find a place that would clean them for me. When I called Pearle they said, bring them in and we'll see what we can do. So I took my l lenses to the Sunnyside location. The optometrist (I think) examined my lenses under the microscope and could see the spot but wasn't able to get it out. He handed me a box of peroxide cleaning solution which I've never had before, and refused my offer to pay for it. Even though they didn't get the lens issue fixed I really appreciate how they helped me out so quickly, and the free kit was just icing on the cake. Thanks Pearle Vision Team! read more

I have been a regular customer here for years. The eye doctor is top notch. I will not be spending any money on my glasses there because of the attitude I received from the optical assistant on 10/30/21. She has worked there awhile and has dark, curly hair. She started out with an attitude the minute I walked in the door and then proceeded to keep it up to the point I left because I am not going to be treated disrespectfully. I will spend my money elsewhere. There is no excuse for her behavior and it is certainly not going to keep customers coming back. They had a very small choice of frames, and usually I would have found something just because I liked the place. read more

Eye dr there prescribed me glasses not correct. Went to my eye dr and found out I still need my prisms which I told the eye dr here. Now the manager can't be bothered to call me back because I have questions to be answered and I get it they are busy but at the same time customers who drop off their glasses to get lenses remade should be a priority. I'm now going to go shell out another 480 to put my CORRECT prescription from my trusted eye dr at their optical place and I'll be without my glasses for 10 days. I'm requesting a refund back for all that I paid and correct amount be sent back to my insurance. I'm so mad that it's being drug out. I tried to wear the glasses from pestle vision and the near ones made me puke and distance ones with advanced transitions never got dark just a see through gray. Do not go here read more

There should be an option to give no stars, as many Yelp users have averred before me. I had an exam with Dr. Clegg and then ordered contacts which had a specialized prescription, therefore he told me the office had none on hand to sell me a full order or give me a few until an order arrived. I ordered the lenses from the clerk Laura and was told it would be "one week" until I would be called and could pick them up. I paid in full. At that moment, a contract existed. I had been given a prescription that differed substantially from my old one; no lenses were on hand to immediately correct my vision so I was accepting a delay of one week until my vision would be corrected as I had paid to accomplish. That's a legal, even medical, contract, and not one to be taken lightly by Dr. Clegg or Pearle Vision. After a week I was not called so I called and was told by Laura my lenses were not in; she promised to "look into it" and call me. At the end of that week I had still not been notified, so I called again and spoke to Elizabeth, who said she would "look into it." Again no call. Today, more than a week after Pearle Vision breached their verbal contract and more than two weeks after I paid for the lenses, I was told they still weren't in. When I demanded she find out why and call me back, she finally did. Lenses lost somehow; their fault, obviously, not mine. I told her I wanted them overnighted and would pick them up on Friday. Pearle should eat the cost of the shipment in such a case, since they are already profiting nicely off selling me lenses. Elizabeth proceeded to call me "aggressive" and "a liar." ???? After I called Dr. Clegg and explained, he talked to Elizabeth and called me back, but although he characterized my demand as "completely reasonable," apparently Elizabeth (i.e. Pearle Vision) wouldn't simply do it. That egregious, adding verbal abuse to breaking a contract and refusing to provide relief. These are all legal terms because this is a legal matter and I intend to treat it as such. My advice to anyone when dealing with companies is 1) 1st call cordial, 2) 2nd call politely urgent, 3)3rd call demanding action and 4)4th call, if it has to be made, means the business is incompetent or fraudulent or both and you should make sure they either pay a penalty to YOU ( free lenses, etc) or pay a penalty by being reported to the Better Business Bureau, the State Attorney General, or both. If consumers allow themselves to be walked over, we will continue to have planes that fall out of the sky, cars that pollute illegally and a host of larger problems more important than lenses! Every contract is a matter of integrity and should be handled by both parties as such. You can do as you wish of course, but why would anyone want to repeat my experience or worse? Do yourself a favor and look for reputable companies before you ever spend a dime. read more

on the day of the appointment i got there right on time 12pm. as soon as i walked in the receptionist was quick to direct me to the doctor. he straight away told me shaking his head that he can't go forward with my appointment that day. i asked why he said he's having trouble with the system to contact insurance. i asked how long he knew about this he said since the morning. if you knew since the morning why would you not call me ahead of time and tell me so i don't wast my time coming into the office. everyone in the office was rude and very disrespectful. i wouldn't go to this office again and recommended others to find better vision centers. read more

This was my first time at Pearl Vision and I had a wonderful experience! The doctor was great! He was polite, listened, and answered all of my questions. I felt at ease and confident that the doctor is very thorough and competent. The Pearle Vision staff were super friendly, approachable, and helpful. They left me to my own devices to pick out my frames (as I requested) and were readily available to help me narrow down my selection when I was ready. The associate I worked with gave me a comprehensive breakdown on my lens options. I felt well informed on my purchase. My glasses arrived about 1 week later, I am wearing them and am so happy! My sister and I both went in for exams and glasses. We received excellent service and would definitely recommend. They are taking precautions practicing social distancing to keep everyone safe. They disinfect each pair of glasses after you try them on. My sister must have tried on at least 30 pair before she found the one and the gal was sweet as could be! read more

Extremely frustrating experience! Will never go back or ever recommend. Pearle had an awesome sale going on, my Mom and I were frame shopping and asked before we shopped if their were any specific exclusions to the sale. Both associates said "No, you can buy whatever you want". Long story short, after two hours of shopping and meticulously picking frames, we went to purchase and the associate informed us of the many many exclusions which applied to the sale. We were the only people in the store for TWO HOURS interacting with this associate and she said nothing. We walked away frustrated with no glasses and a wasted afternoon. I will now order the frames I took two hours to chose and was prepared to purchase at full value from another independent website. How About Some Regular Hours. I leave work early and drive 45 minutes arriving at 1:45 in the afternoon. Sign on the door says "Back in 15 mins". Oh well so I walk 3 doors down and grab a sandwich. I return 15 minutes later to find another sign on the door at 2:05 "Gone to lunch back at 3:00" Really? Who runs a store front business like this. I've been wearing contacts/glasses for almost 20 years. My insurance changed and I needed a new optometrist. When looking online this Pearle vision location had amazing reviews on other sites so I figured I'd give it a shot. Dr. Clegg wasn't the friendliest guy I've met. During my exam there were a few times when asked which is better "1 or 2" and I asked him to repeat them. He seemed agitated by that. Seemed silly to get irritated by something that takes an extra 10 seconds. When I asked about ordering the brand of contacts I've been using for years he said they don't make them anymore. I knew it was untrue since I ordered them 9 months before and had no issue finding them online. Overall he's not a bad optometrist but he's not real friendly so don't expect any nice conversations. Today 03/24/2021 - My son had a eye exam at the Pearl Vision in the Clackamas Oregon store. After his exam we decided to look at frames. We were told if he tries on any frames leave them in a dish so they can be cleaned. He tried on 7 pairs. I heard the women at the counter huffing and puffing and at the time I assumed she was flustered with something she was working on. When my son was about done trying on the glasses she mumbled "Jesus Christ". I asked my son is she said what I thought she did and he heard the same thing. I wasn't sure how to respond so I let her say something to us when she noticed he was done trying on frames. She said "you didn't find a pair after all of those you tried on". I replied he found plenty of pairs however glasses are very expensive and you want to make sure you select the right pair. She smirked. When we started to walk out I said thank you for your help. Mind you not one time she asked if we needed assistance. She made another comment under her breath when we walked out but we couldn't understand her. I have been to this store several times and have spent a lot money. My daughter has an eye exam there tomorrow and I will take her but I will never go back after that. The Doctor is great and everyone in my family likes him but the disrespect from that girl what unbelievable. She has dark curly hair and has worked there quite a while. She has the WORST customer service I have ever seen. I own a small business in the Clackamas area and as someone who employees people she is an embarrassment. If this was my company she would be fired so fast. Not only was she bothered that maybe she had more work to do to sterilize the frames she cursed at us. I have never been so disrespected in my life. The blessing in this is my son who is a college student learned not how to be as an employee. I don't know if there are cameras but I would highly recommend something watching them that might help you terminate her especially if you can listen to what she's saying. I went into Pearle Vision in September and I had a great experience with the Doctor and the lady that helped me pick out a pair of glasses. She helped me with figuring out a price that was right for me and I appreciated it. Fast forward to November 3, 2015. I looked online to see what time they opened and it said 9am. I was out running around that morning and I was in the parking lot at 8:45. I watched a lady walk out, lock the doors and walk away. 9am rolls around and I get out of my car and go up to the doors and they are locked and the building is dark. I'm like "Huh? Maybe I got my times wrong". I looked back online and it says 9am. I sit in my car for a few more minutes and call the number. No answer. I sit some more then I see the woman who walked out at 8:45 walk back up this time with a cup of coffee. I am a little irritated at this point. I give her about 30 seconds and I call the number again and she answers the phone. I ask what time did they open and she says "We just opened". I responded with "I know I've sitting in the parking lot for 10 minutes waiting for you to open". She responds with "Yeah we had a conference call that ran over". -__- Lies. Was the conference call held at Starbucks? Instead of calling her out on her lie, I decided to just get on with my day. I walk into the the store and she doesn't say anything to me. No "I'm sorry we had you waiting", "Hi", "How can I help you", "What brings you in today". Nothing. She just stared at me with raised eyebrows. So I proceeded to ask her if they take my insurance and I tell her the name of the insurance company. She then rolls her eyes and says "We cant bill them". I didn't say "Thank you" or anything I just walked out. Angry. ANYWAY....My point after saying all of that is to say that the lady that worked at the Clackamas Pearle Vision location on Sunnyside on November 3rd 2015 at 9am, please do not take your tardiness out on customers that walk into the store. You are in customer service...brush up on your skills. Also, just a little advice, you should probably plan your mornings better so that you will have time to get your coffee and open your store on time! read more
