I had to call when the email never materialized. They agreed to refund my debit card the unauthorized charges but not until I went to pick up the glasses a week later. Amazing place. I woke up with a swollen eye. Had 2 hrs before I had to go to work. I went in There as, this is the closest place to my home. They did everything in their power to get me in. We discovered plastic in my eye. Whole staff was super friendly and nice:) they were so busy and they really cared about all their customers. I recommend this place very highly!!!! read more

It took me 3 months to finally get my glasses. The first time the optometrist wrote the wrong prescription. It took 2 separate pairs of glasses to finally figure that out. Had to write corporate to get some satisfaction. But by that time I was totally disgusted with the service and quality, not to mention the price. Very Poor Service. I went it on my lunch hr. to get my eye and contact exam. I told them I will be coming on my lunch hr and I only have an hr. they said we will be done in 30 mins so should be no problem at all. Took them 45 mins to do just the eye exam. Had me take test that were completely unnecessary and charged me for it. When I questioned it, they said- that's their policy not to provide refunds and test are for my benefits. Here is a though- Explain what the test are for and go over the results w. your patients. Sat down to get frames, finally picked a pair out. and bill was for $288. she takes my credit card, tells me she is going to bill me $288.00 comes back with a bill of $388. I asked why. she says oh well, you have to pay for this and that.. and your insurance didnt cover this and that. But look all the savings your insurance provided. I told her to refund it. I DO NOT want anything from there. $126 later for eye exam i got glasses from Sear Optical for less then haft the cost of what Pearle Vision was charging me. I had to call 10 times to get them to give up MY own records that I am entitled to since I paid for them. Every time I got the same answer " I have to check with the Doctor" and they forget about you. STAY AWAY folks. these people suck. Management sucks as do the doctors. read more

She provided us with knowledge of what was covered with our insurance and helped us with my twins getting their glasses. I left here this evening feeling totally baffled. Found cute glasses and ordered them and felt pretty disgusted with how much I paid.... ($430) With a %50 sale?! I do have "special" eyes and need a specific type of lens for my glasses that is typically more expensive. However, I wasn't expecting to be charged for things like "pearle plan" and "an eye glass cleaning kit" without my permission or consent. When I got home and saw that I have also been charged higher than quoted for my frames it put me at "angry" level. It's pretty disgusting how they've already got me spending over $300 for glasses and then decide to add more charges and just swipe my card. When I called this morning the manager explained my bill to me. Something she did not do when I was there. She said that the bundled package made my other services cheaper, which I could see now. Still, as a first time customer I think they should do a better job of explaining services and charges to you. I think I would purchase frames but not lenses from here again. The frames were decently priced but I'd rather go to Costco for the lenses and save like $200. Finally, once I received my glasses they had adjusted them and bent them so it looked like I was walking in a fishbowl. I had to go back three times to get them adjusted properly. The optomitrist was fine, and the price for the exam seemed ok to me. A salesman showing me frames was very nice as well. But after that - I felt like I was at a sleazy used car lot. I get an email, instructing me to put my next appointment on my calendar. I didn't make (and don't want!) another appointment! I did go back to look at glasses - the prices were really REALLY high. Like, 3 times as high as other local stores. Sure, designer frames should cost more, but their lenses were perhaps 4 times the cost of other stores. Then, they say if you have medical insurance (which doesn't cover glasses) they'll give you a "courtesy discount" of 35%. So... they punish people unfortunate enough to not have medical coverage? Wow. When I tried to leave, I was grabbed by a manager type, who desperately tried to sell me something. All of a sudden, things could get much cheaper. Very very hard to get out the door. Outside (having finally escaped) other customers who were leaving joked with me, about how hard it was for me to get out of there. Unless you like spending way too much, and enjoy high pressure sales, go elsewhere. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The doctor was very nice and professional. That is all the positive I may say about Pearle Vision in Crystal Lake IL. The utter lack of service and customer care is appalling. Lip service, at best. If you want attitude or indifference, though, they have that in ample supply. I suggest going to any other eye care provider in McHenry County. I am on my 35th day without my glasses (2 pairs-sun and "regular" ) that I paid for on December 14 2018. Around $900 worth. When I do finally receive them it will be the THIRD time I will pick them up as BOTH pair BOTH previous times were wrong...i.e. can not see out of them. Can't make this up, folks. I get mistakes can happen and I know they are not deliberate errors, but the lack of urgency and attention to this folly is frustrating. I hope to receive them this coming weekend (January 19 2019). My goal is to have both pairs, correctly made, in less than 40 days, It will be close. I will be receiving a $100 credit for "my trouble"; a credit that I asked for. It was not voluntarily forthcoming from them as restitution for this far less than satisfying experience. They did have the audacity to ask me to write a review on yelp, so I obliged. If nobody cares for eyes more than Pearle then I shudder to think how awful the others may be. read more

The manager Gaylord repaired my glasses for me for no charge. My glasses were bent when I came in and they were like brand new in five minutes! This complimentary repair was only worth five minutes of their time, but meant everything to me! Excellent service. read more

I was very excited about the sales that Pearle Vision offers, but the hassle that I was put through in order to receive my contact lenses was so ridiculous that I should have just gone somewhere else and paid full price, and that is exactly what I ended up doing. I went in, got an exam and left with some sample contacts, after about a week i called to order my contacts as instructed. They said the manager I was dealing with wasn't in but he would call when he was there. No big deal, i can wait until he works- supposedly the next day. 3 days went by without a call, so i called back and was told they were sorry he hadn't called and they will have him call the next day... After about 2 weeks of back and fourth he finally got back to me and I was told I should come in to be re examined and get more sample contacts. When I went in it became clear that they could not find the information from my previous exam, that is why they wanted to do a second one. After realizing that, I figured I should test the samples once again to make sure they were the same. I was then told that they didn't have the samples in stock but would order them. They never called to tell me the samples were in stock and when I finally called them they said to come in the next day to pick them up. The next day I went in to pick up the samples, and the woman trying to give them to me scrambled around searching for about 20 minutes. When she finally found the shipment box of samples they had ordered, she compared them with my prescription and found that they were not the correct ones. At this point I finally decided the deal I was going to get was not worth it and I would take my business elsewhere. The manager offered to sweeten the deal and give me 3 pairs of trial contacts in an attempt to keep my business. Once again I decided to stick with them... surely they would make sure there were no further issues after all of this, right? Wrong. When I was finally able to go back into the store for the fourth time they handed me ONE pair of sample contacts instead of the 3 that had been promised. When I attempted to talk to the manager about it she was very rude and said she was helping someone else. Now, with a reaction like that you would think I saw her helping someone else and just barged into their conversation... I actually stood and waited for at least 10 minutes until the gentleman she was helping stepped away, then asked her to help resolve my own issue. This store is completely unorganized and the staff (at least the ones in charge of providing me with customer service) is incompetent and the female manager (I don't recall her name) was rude. I will NEVER go back to a Pearle Vision ever again, and I will advise anyone-friends, family, strangers- seeking eye care to avoid this company at all costs. I really dislike this place. My family has been going here for several years, only because it's so convenient. The people here are friendly enough, but they make SO MANY mistakes. They have somehow made multiple charts for the same person, causing so much confusion. They have ordered the wrong lenses for me. The list goes on and on. Really, avoid this place if you can. I had stopped in to Pearle Vision/Crystal Lake last night because I had a pair of glasses that needed a repair. I did not buy the glasses from Pearle, I bought them through my eye doctor's office. Another vision center referred me to Pearle to fix them because that vision center didn't carry this particular type frame. I was greeted very kindly and a woman named Praksha and her associate (male) assisted me. She gladly fixed my frames for me and they are all good now! When I asked what I owed them for the repair, I was told nothing. ZERO! I fully expected to pay something for this since I did not buy these frames from Pearle. What a pleasant surprise!!! THANK YOU Praksha! I will be back as soon as I get my new RX from my doctor. read more

ZERO stars for this place. I joined Yelp to warn others; run, run away as fast as you can! Please do yourself a favor and drive the 1/2 mile up the road and give your business to Visionworks. They are far superior as far as customer service, selection and price. I don't even know were to begin to describe the miserable experience I had at Pearle Vision in Crystal Lake. With the exception of Steve, my interaction with the staff was unfriendly, patronizing, and utterly inept, actually mind blowing to think these people get paid to screw up, PEARLE, it's time for some reviews at this location! I should have known to go somewhere else when the woman next to me looked at me as said "good luck" when she left the store, visibly unhappy. Trust me, they could care less about you as a customer, all they want to do is sell you things you don't need, that aren't covered by insurance or are included in some bundle that you don't even have the choice to purchase. By the way, you HAVE to buy the lens cleaning kit, wanted or not, go figure. The manager openly admitted to forgetting to resolve my issue then he forgot he admitted said screw up taking no blame at all, and somehow a mistake made by the lab became my fault. Go figure the lab messed up and the manager dropped the ball and it was my fault, I guess this is their version of customer service. Satisfaction is not guaranteed and the customer is not right at this place. Read the fine print, there are no refunds, no matter how many times they screw up. It took months and multiple attempts to fix the problem and the glasses still weren't correct but get my money back no way. If they had fixed it on the first, second or even third attempt I would have left it alone but it was maddening that after almost 3 months and no resolution I was stuck with glasses that I have to make do with. I guess at this place you have to let them play at making glasses until by a fluke they give you something passable. Please, as a public service heed my advice and take your business elsewhere. This review is not done out of malice rather I am an average consumer, who works hard for her money and doesn't ask for much except for a product without flaw and at best neutral treatment with my transaction. What I received after multiple attempts was a sub par product, and a truly rotten experience, so bad in fact it prompted me to leave my first on line review. There are many other options out there for eye wear and your eye health and ability to see properly is far too important to leave up to a sales associates in a lab coat whose only concern is what they can sell you and trust me, who could care less about you and your vision. Think about it, this is your ability to see, who are you going to trust with that. While you're at it do some research on Luxottica and you might think twice about where and how you spend your money. read more

We used this location for several years. While the professional services were fine, the clerical staff leaves a lot to be desired. Several issues occurred with insurance billing. We pay for services up front and then have to fight with them to bill the insurance company. On one occasion we had to repeatedly call them to get our refund after the insurance company paid...it took them one year to refund our money. On this last visit, they refused to bill the insurance company for a medical procedure required by my primary doctor. When questioned why, the girl said, "(their) doctor did not authorize billing the insurance company." My company actually requires me to have the procedure in question done annually for preventative measures because of diabetes. There are numerous service providers that take my insurance in our area and from now on both me and my wife will go else where. I also agree with others that have posted comments that these folks try to push unnecessary procedures. May be this is why they refused to bill my insurance company. read more
