I explained that she had previously told me she would call back to schedule an appointment and I haven't heard from her. Instead of offering any sort of apology or acknowledgement, she just replied, "are you available Tuesday?". I appreciate that Lisa tried to call back, but my answering system caught her saying, "and she wonders why she can't get an appointment". The snide remark from the owner of a small business gives me pause. Being in a family of small business owners and having worked in one for half my life, what being in a family-owned business has taught me is, above all, humility and exercising consideration to make your customers feel cared for. This was not the feeling I received from my interaction with Lisa. Based on my initial experience, I am not confident that any future experience will be different. It's too bad because the clinic is right down the road from me.

I have had nothing but exceptional customer service from Pearle Vision on Mckee Road. The staff has gone out of their way to get me into glasses quickly and without any stress! The most impressive service I received was when I recently lost my brand new glasses on a trip across seas. I emailed the store in a panic hoping only to figure out what size frames I had purchased so I could perhaps save a little money by buying new frames online (it was an expensive trip and I had little money to spare by the end!), but they did me one better. The staff emailed me back promptly and offered to get me into a brand new pair for such an amazing price. Two days after my arrival back I had a new pair of glasses and another enjoyable experience with the terrific staff. I don't buy my contacts there because they're almost double the price of what I can buy them for at Costco. They will give you a printed prescription if you ask. My insurance now covers the $35 for the imaging of the back of my eye but even before it was covered it was well worth the $35 to not have half a day where I cannot see because I had my pupils dilated. I'm taking off a star because of a couple issues. I brought my glasses in to have the prescription read last year and it was never entered into my chart I was then told I would need to make an appointment to bring them in for a second time to have them read. It's really inconvenient to have to take off time from work for a mistake they made as they're not open on Saturdays. The second issue being that the eye doctor seemed really annoyed with me that I haven't gotten the new glasses she wants me to get. I have had the same glasses for about 10 years and don't feel I am having issues with seeing out of them--in fact I still wear them instead of my contacts if I am doing up close work like embroidery. When I asked if the new prescription was much different than the glasses I already have they were unable to tell me since they read and then didn't enter the prescription. They asked if I brought my glasses with me--why would I when I brought them last year? They also seemed annoyed that I am not wearing readers when I use the computer which I explained was because they give me a headache. I was told to use a lower power, which would only be available somewhere online, and should hold the lens up to light to see if they look distorted--hard to do when buying online. I decided not to explain that I had tried a couple different strengths and found they all gave me a headache. Just didn't sit super well with me to feel like I'm trying to explain I'm seeing well and I'm being told I just need to buy the new glasses and I have to wear readers. My parents had a similar feeling about their eye visits with the same eye doctor. I'll give them another shot but after that I'll ask to see someone else.

Including the examine and several missteps on their part, it took SIX trips from my home in Merrimac before I finally get my glasses. I have very good vision insurance, but after my insurance, the glasses cost me over $500. Out of pocket. Not a small some. Within a year, the frame broke. That had never happened before in the (50) years that I have been wearing glasses. When I inquired about getting a two year guarantee for the replacement frames, I was told that no, only the original warrantee was in place. Well, in a recent visit, concerning a continued problem with the nose pads falling off, I mentioned that a corner of one of the lenses was clouding up. The "technician" said that the lenses were delaminating. This after 2 1/2 years of use. I was told that since the lens was outside the two year warranty, they would not replace it. Imagine, after only two years, the provider would not stand behind them. Especially after the small fortune that I paid for those glasses. We all know that Costco would have made those glasses for roughly 1/3 the cost. I won't make that mistake again!!

The attendant guided me to which patient forms were needed and I got that covered. We arrived five minutes early and waited while the receptionist assisted the person in front of us. When it was our turn she stood up, said we'll be right with you and was off. I didn't have time to sigh as she really was back within seconds and efficiently took our information. He waited a brief minute or two before he was in the office. As for the waiting room, it was comfortable. There were cushy chairs, a Kuerig set up with quite a few selections I didn't choose from. Down the aisle was a cute play area for kids. I settled in to read an ebook while I waited, in ear shot of the receptionist's desk. The staff was completely professional. When they weren't with a patient they had a couple brief conversations. About their favorite pen that went missing and a trip to another state. I spend far too much time in waiting rooms at appointments and have hear too many "non-professional" conversations. We browsed through a multitude of frames while his eyes were dialating. He tried on some interesting styles, but most frames were brand name. Prices varied between $150-350 range, so shop with insurance here. We ordered his that night and with a two year warranty I deemed it worthy of a few extra dollars for the frame he liked. They estimated a week before coming in, but they were done the next day. Less than 12 hours later. The doctor was very kind, as was the staff. I'm very impressed and will gladly go back.
