terrible service and even worse communication. this is this most unprofessional establishment i have ever been too. I went in to get my prescription updated & they charge my medical insurance rather than my vision. I ended up paying more due to the insurance issue. I was originally told they glasses would be ready in 3 weeks. 5 weeks later, I was told that there would be a delay for an additional week in getting my glasses. Ive been going to this location annually for 6 years now. I liked Dr. Wolfe and then he retired. Dr. Rodda replaced him and he is fantastic as well! Now the sales team who do the glasses that is a different story. The folks are pushy and rude. Maybe they haven't heard of inflation but wake up and see reality. Tricare person here. Finding good provider offices that are in-network is so incredibly difficult. After calling multiple offices that I found listed on the Tricare Find a Provider webpage and all of them saying "No, we don't accept Tricare." I called Pearle Vision, which has a clinic inside of it that accepts Tricare. I was able to get an eye check-up and new glasses prescription, but I was unable to get lenses and frames at Pearle Vision. I had to take my glasses rx somewhere else where Tricare would cover but I'm not bothered by that. I paid 39$ for the new fancy photo machine rather than having my eyes dilated which I highly recommend. Everyone was friendly and I was in and out relatively fast. My new rx is on point, really happy with the overall experience. Plus Tricare reimbursed the 39$ I paid at the appointment. Win, win! read more

The main reason I went for an appointment was to get a new set of glasses which I needed as my last pair was broken and that was all I wanted. The doctor went to give me a cataract test and I did not even ask for one. At that point he refused to set me up for a prescription for a new pair of glasses and would not do so until I had surgery on my eyes.. He fielded all of our questions, was very patient while we tried on many pairs of glasses even though he probably had to sanitize them all once we left. The folks here are life savers!!!! After negligently losing my glasses (two pairs in 6 months!) and running out of contact lenses as well, I called Pearle Optical in Gahanna for an emergency visit and was able to get an appointment the next day (other optometrists couldn't get me in for weeks). I was very reluctant to go to a corporately owned optometrist, but visited this place for the first time yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. This office is at a prime location, and is located within a mile of 270 and is housed in the same shopping plaza as my gym and the local Kroger. I arrived at the office bright and early and was greeted warmly by both the doctor and office staff. After completing new patient paperwork, I was promptly taken back for my exam by the clinical team who was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The doctor here was extremely friendly, professional, and highly skilled at what he does. After he realized I had neither glasses nor contacts at the moment, he was nice enough to give me a free trial pair of contacts to take home. Even better, during my visit the team asked me if I had any concerns about my current contact lens brand-- I mentioned pricing (I was paying about $300 a year for contacts), so they recommended a brand that was only $115 for a years worth. It also came with a $100 rebate, so ended up being only $15 after sending in rebate details. Wow, What a deal!!!!!! The icing on the cake was while ordering my contacts, a staff member was nice enough to go out of her way to check stock and found out that they actually had several pairs of the kind of contacts I needed on hand! Yay!!! Who doesn't enjoy an eye exam with same day glasses/lenses??? Seriously, this was the very first time I've ever visited an eye doctor for an initial exam and walked out with everything I needed, so I was impressed! Since I was without glasses as well, this person also answered my insurance questions and helped me understand what out of pocket costs would be if I wanted to order hardware that day. She explained how my benefits wouldn't cover a new pair of glasses until 12 months after getting contact lenses, helping me to avoid a hefty, unexpected bill. To sum up my experience: I arrived blind as a bat, apprehensive and uncertain about how my appointment would be, but left happy, vision restored, and ecstatic about my experience! read more

Warning: be prepared for an extremely pushy, heavy sales pitch to buy the most expensive tier of lens. Know what your benefits cover, if you have benefits. They will push the most expensive options relentlessly! It's obnoxious! They also lock their office for "lunch" while still doing their hard sale. While seeing the same eye doctor here may be a bit of a challenge, the staff is always friendly and accommodating. Recently I was in need of a rush visit as I was having an allergic reaction in my eyes related to my contact lenses. I was given an immediate appointment and Dr. Wolfe knew what was needed as soon as I gave my symptoms. While I was concerned it was going to be a major issue he had me in and out with problem resolved (prescription eye drops and switch to daily disposables) with 15 minutes.....not too mention, this was all done as a courtesy check with no charge for the visit. Not the greatest service, the people were nice but I had to have new lenses made because they misread the doctors crummy writing. I had all of the coatings they offered put on the lenses but it seems the lenses are cheap plastic and scratched very easily. I'm glad I bought the lens replacement plan or I would have been completely out of luck. read more

This place is awful! My sunglasses RX was not done correctly. Doesn't appear they were sent back to be fixed right. I demanded a refund and went somewhere else. I'm glad I did, I ended up saving over $200 for the same brand of sunglasses and the particular pair I purchased should have been only $20 cheaper!! The customer service was awful. When my husband and I went in to look at their sunglasses for me they kept trying to push him into buying a pair of non-RX sunglasses because "these are better than what you are wearing". I call BS on that. I'm a sunglasses snob and know good sunglasses when I see them, they weren't any better than the ones he was wearing and they are the same brand! I have used Pearle Vision, Gahanna for two years now and I have been happy each time! Dr. Wolfe is very soft spoken, and kind, and makes you feel comfortable during your exam. He answers all questions, and talked as if he remembered me from a year ago, which I thought was nice given how many patients he probably sees! The other employees are great to work with, and are friendly to talk to. They have a good selection of frames to choose from, and they do not try to persuade you into purchasing contacts after you say no like other eye care centers. Although they do ask, but they leave it alone once you say no. They have additional imaging of your eye that you can opt in for for a small fee, and as a worrisome person I love it because I get to see what the doctor sees and can have peace of mind on the health of my eyes. I have gone in a couple of times to this location now. I'm not sure why I chose it as it's pretty far away from my home and work but I went there and now here we are. The first visit was fine - the doctor is very nice and so are the staff. I didn't like being put into PearleVision's own contacts as I don't like my doctor's to have personal biases in their advising but I tried them but didn't buy right away. Glad I didn't. I have now had to go back in twice to get different contacts as I didn't like the ones he was prescribing. The first time, I was told to come back in an hour as they were super busy so I went and did some grocery shopping (minor inconvenience) but the second time I was told I would have to wait 45 minutes because they just decided to take an unplanned family of 5. How is that my problem? Now I have to use up more of my worknight or reschedule. They need to work out their scheduling but the actual people involved are good enough. read more

I went in for the first time yesterday. They are typically appointment only which I didn't realize, but they happened to have a cancellation so I was able to get in right away. Heather was so sweet and friendly, and she told me to feel free to check out their selection of glasses while I was waiting to be taken back for my exam. She's a natural conversationalist, I already felt like I belonged there! Dr. Wolfe was also incredibly friendly. He even showed me the picture of the inside of my eyes, how cool is that?? The whole process - both the eye exam and purchasing my new frames - was smooth, easy to understand, and time efficient. The entire appointment from start to finish was MAYBE 35 minutes. My husband's eye doctor didn't have an appt open when I wanted to get in so I decided since it was buy 1 get one free on glasses and mine were 11 years old might be time to upgrade. We got there 30 minutes before my appt and browsed for frames so that was done and could save some time after the exam. The older receptionist was nice but got you got the sense she could shuck and jive you if you weren't careful. The Dr. was a fill in for the regular doctor, she was extremely nice. We did the exam and she asked me if I wanted contacts. I said I wasn't a regular wearer might it might be nice for dinners out and such. She said they'd order me a trial pair for which there would be no cost, I could see if I liked them and then if I did, I'd come back in for a fitting and order the real set. Both my husband and I heard this. Our insurance is pure crap right now so we were going to have to pay almost full price. 2 pairs of glasses (one is "free") and I paid $500! The hubby about crapped. We mentioned the trial pair the the receptionist & she said it wasn't written down. I told her what the doctor said & she confirmed it with her and asked for the $70 'fitting' fee. We told her this was a FREE trial pair & the doctor said we wouldn't pay that until I placed a real order. She said okay and to come in in a week. The hubby picked up my glasses/contacts on the way home and she wanted the fee. He AGAIN explained what the doctor said. She said "oops, forgot to order the contacts, they'll be in in about a week." This was after 5pm. Miraculously they appeared at opening Monday morning. She'd had them the whole time. I called back to make an appt so they could give me their mandatory 'refresher' course. We got there and I'll be damned if the woman didn't tell me again to cough up $70. I look at my husband with disgust and he said 'do you want them that bad?' I said 'no way, you can keep them. I'm not paying $70 for a fitting I never even had and for a free pair of contacts the doctor wanted me to try before getting fitted. Denise, you can keep my contacts and you've lost a customer. We were both unsure of what exactly we needed. Felt very pressured to choose higher priced frames and choose all the bells and whistles. I would pass on this location. The doctor was sweet, but staff needs a refresher on customer service. I went back in today, with my glasses in hand, thinking there was something wrong. My last prescription seemed heavy because it had a bifocal portion included, but the doctor offered to leave that off. I was good with that, but didn't realize it would make things that much different. Print was blurry at far distances, so I just put them aside because I thought they were wrong. After a few family emergencies, back to back to back, I called to get them fixed. After sitting down, and actually reading small print, it was fine. I was used to being able to go in the store, and have them on the entire time, for print on packages and prices. With the bifocal not included, it was a whole different ball game. The staff looked at me like I was the biggest moron. No one needs that, after wasting time and gas to come back out to the office. I already felt silly, but I never sat down and tried reading with them. I didn't think they would be that different. Now, I'm just bummed I spent my money here. Next time, I'll try somewhere different. (Family of 4 all with vision needs, that's a lot of money over the years.) read more
