Absolutely terrible service. They made trifocals that weren't right. They even said the lenses were in the wrong sides. They switched them. Still not right. I was told 30 days had passed, too bad. DO NOT GO HERE! EXAMS ARE A SCAM! My insurance provider states that i have a $10 copay for standard eye exam. I confirmed with my network providers website what my estimate would be the $10 copay shown before going. Pearl vision didn't honor this or my insurance provider being in network and charged me the full cost of the exam at $104. I also only asked for an eye exam and they charge me for glasses prescription, and premium eye exam when that wasn't what i received. I got a standard eye exam same as everywhere else I've been that provided a standard eye exam fully covered by my insurance. This same exam i got that was considered "premuim" at pearle vision was listed a routine exam at visionworks. Pearle vison explained it as premium because i wear day and night contacts, this same exam at visionworks was for the same day and nights I've always wore and was listed as routine and was covered. 1st time going here and here will be my last. I wont be shy to share this to every review platform i can. Didn't have any issues with visionworks with my last provider, wish EyeMed has visionworks in network. read more

She reviewed the exam results and recommendations for handling my dry eyes. Before and after the exam, she asked if there were any specific reasons I was concerned with or any other questions. I felt disrespected and under valued as a customer. After my prescription was done wrong, the doctor refusing to get me in soon so he can fix it, and the doctor tells me "do you expect me to cancel on my clients for you? That's ridiculous" and "I don't have time to deal with you" when I called after 2 weeks to see if my correct glasses were in. This was my first time going to Pearle Vision. I have VSP for my insurance so I went to their website and looked up a few places near me that used my insurance. I read a few reviews from each place and this one had good reviews. My exam was great the female doctor was great. 2 weeks pass and my glasses are in. Mind I have been wearing glasses for 17 years of my life. Right away I feel then strange now how the right prescription should feel. I call the receptionist lady an hour of wearing them and feeling uncomfortable and she tells me to try it for a day or two and to call if I'm not feeling good and she would get me in ASAP. I use them for the whole day and I couldn't even see my computer screen infront of me. I call her around 2 pm that day and ask her if I could go in to get them fixed. She tells me she was already booked and I would have to wait until next week (and take in mind it takes around 2 weeks more to get new glasses). I ask her if she could let me go in sooner and she transfers ask her if she could let me go in sooner and she transfers me to the owner (male) doctor and he is instantly rude. He tells me "do you expect me to cancel on my other clients for you? Thats ridiculous" I tell him that it wasn't my fault the prescription was wrong. He just tells me he will call me right back to see what he can do. After 2 hours of waiting for his call, he never calls and he's about to close so I call again where he tells me "I didn't say I would call you today, but I can get you in tomorrow at 2:15 and if that doesn't work then you'll have to wait until next week" and I said "ok that works with me" and he hangs up. Once I go in to get them fixed, the doctor tells me it'll take around 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks had passed waiting for my glasses to get fixed, I called to see the ETA where the receptionist tells me it was going to take 2 -3 more weeks. I ask to speak to the doctor where he tells me "I don't have time to deal with you right now, I already said 2 weeks so just wait" I ask why it was going to take 2 MORE weeks and just says to call my insurance if I have issues. Overall, reviews were great so I'm upset I had this experience because I have never had any issues with my prescriptions (even though I have had 17 years worth of glasses and exams). read more

Dr. Lorenz wasn't available and the new Dr was rude, the sales staff was pushy, and when I ended up completely unsatisfied with uncomfortable glasses that I can't even wear I told there was nothing they could do about it, despite the Pearl Vision website offering a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I purchased a Groupon and booked an appointment with this Pearle Vision against my intuition. I can see from the other one star reviews that I should have listened to myself better. I was didn't have an issue as far I know of. However the doctor became really stand offish and a complete jerk to me when I said was changing my career because of the pandemic. I was a bit confused as to why she was acting like a control freak. She gave me the "am I stupid" look for not adding on a dilation procedure that cost money when I went the old fashion way which didn't cost a damn thing. My prerogative honestly. She claimed she saw a scratch on my eye which I know I had an eye injury over 20+ years ago and have already seen a couple of doctors for the injury in that time frame. She didn't want to fit me for or give me my prescription for contacts even though I already paid for them out of pocket. They also screwed up my glasses claiming that I needed bifocals and when I declined they put bifocals strength in my glasses and everytime I put them on they are uncomfortable. I don't need to see the ground that close and I told them that was what was going on before I left. They told me I needed to get use to them.however I can't even wear them long enough to get use to them. The times I've tried my eyesight double visioned looking down at a piece of paper and wouldn't focus I made an appointment to have them fix it and come out in a snow storm that was getting worse. There was only one clerk there and she was very nasty and said because of Covid I couldn't wait in the store. I said no problem i will wait in Wendy's. I called back and said I had a negative test return the previous day and she decline and said because of people picking up their glasses I couldn't wait Even though I was made to wait an hour picking up my frames the first time ‍ I then said whatever, and waited for the doctor In Wendy's. Not even 5min passed and Crystal the clerk from Pearle Vision called and said the doctor had been in an accident. Which I could tell right away she was lying by the tone of her voice She hung up on me without rescheduling. Don't purchase frames here.. they mark up the prices by $100-200 example ray bans. I didn't learn about this until after I purchased them at store. Target offers a better deal and won't ever be returning here for frame and lenses. I paid $327 with insurance, pretty ridiculous. I attempted to get my insurance portion I paid for in case they break when I received my glasses the first day and they wouldn't refund me $35 because it was already processed. Very questionable. Received a promotional email stating Pearle Vision was waiving insurance copay for eye exams, so called this location and asked about promotion and scheduled. The Dr was great, very friendly. Once it was time to pay a male associate helped me and told me the cost of exam, I pulled up the email and explained about the promotion I was sent and told him I spoke to someone about it when I called and scheduled. He said "the only ones here is me and Amanda and she knows better". He was very aggressive and rude. I found this place because my mom bought me a Groupon. They're still offering them, if anyone else is interested. Free eye exam plus $150 towards a full set of glasses. The thing that was most pleasant about this experience was the doctor. He was genuine, kind, personable. He made the experience comfortable. I really liked him, and he was honest about what was going to be the best fit for me. He didn't seem scammy , but like he was just trying to sell me something more expensive. My only critical feedback to him, is that his office could use a new paint job, and a little more aesthetic decoration. Really can't say enough good about him! They were able to schedule me for a same day appointment. The ladies who work in the front are very kind. Even after I took 40 minutes to choose a pair of glasses, and ended up sticking with the ones I already had. Bummer is, they wouldn't put the credit towards replacing the lenses in the glasses I already had, I had to be for a full new set. So I spent $200 just on replacing the lenses. Also, it was a little frustrating but it's an extra $40 for a "contact exam", he asked me a couple questions and it was at less than five minute process added to the regular exam. They also wouldn't put the $150 towards contacts (so that's a separate purchase), Pearle vision is franchised, so seems like there would be some power to do that if they wanted to. I booked my appointment online which is convenient and you are given the option to submit your insurance and personal information online to decrease waiting time during your visit. I'm all about efficiency so I loved this. What I was less than impressed with was the fact that I was given the option to book an appointment at 10 am but the office literally doesn't open until 10. That is, I got there an no staff had arrived yet. So I literally got there and had to wait for staff to arrive and let me in and then they had to get settled in before they could attend to me. I was surprised by this oversight as they really do seem to have their act together. Despite the awkward entrance, when the staff was able to tend to me they were very friendly- especially the doctor who made my exam a very comfortable experience. The doctor is very knowledgeable and I felt very well cared for. I'll be back, I just won't book my appointment as early next time! read more

I have been looking for a new eye doctor for a while now. My wife has gone here for 10 years so I decided to finally find it a try and I'm so glad I did! Dr. Schneider was great and she gave me my most thorough eye exam I have ever had. It didn't take any longer than usual, she just covered more things and got my correction so crisp and clear. I can't wait to get my new glasses. I was also pleasantly surprised by how nice the office is. I'm from Chicago and I was visiting a family member in Lakewood and realized when I was at the airport that I had forgotten to pack my eyeglasses. I had called Pearle Vision the night prior to ask if they could do same day glasses (which literally no other place apparently does) and they said they could. I had my prescription faxed over to them and they were so nice and accommodating to everything I needed and had my eyeglasses done in less than 2 hours. I have finally found the one and only place I will ever go to for my eye wear needs. After searching for several weeks using yelp and other online websites and also asking friends and co-workers, I found Pearle Vision. I was actually a Pearle Vision customer back in the days that they used to be located adjacent to the old mall (can't remember the name) which is now the Belmar shopping center. They took great care of me back then, and somehow I lost touch with them (probably due to my taking too long between exams and keeping the same prescription for too many years). In any case, while reading a less than pleased review for another optical business I had been considering to take my new prescription to in February of this year, the person mentioned that after their negative experience with this other business they found their way to Pearle Vision and were very pleased with the results. I immediately thought, "Of course! How could I have forgotten them?". I called them because I needed two pairs of glasses for a reasonable price, and they have the buy one get one free deal. From the moment I came in to this Pearle Vision location on Alameda, I was treated very well. I showed them my new prescription and they immediately and very courteously directed me to several possible frames within my price range and optical needs (frames for single vision lenses, around $180 or less). There was a sincere effort on the part of Meagan, the lady I worked with that day, to ensure that I would be happy with the 2 frames I chose. She also helped me out with a discount on top of the 2 for 1 deal. Of the two pairs I purchased, for a total of $328 including everything, one was ready in 2 days, as they had the lenses in stock for those frames. The other was a polycarbonate lense and that took around ten days to come in. When I received the new glasses, I liked them, but they didn't feel quite right in terms of the vision. The associates kindly and sincerely suggested that I would just need to get used to the new prescription for a few days, and also let me know that they had a policy of customer satisfaction, and not to be concerned if there were any problems. They also let me know that if the doctor changed my prescription that they would change the lenses free one time. Well, as it turns out, the prescription was just not right (the prescription itself, not the lenses - those were made correctly, to the new specifications). After a little over three weeks wearing the new lenses, I concluded that it wasn't working for me and was causing eye strain. That morning I called Pearle and explained my situation and deep concern, and asked them if they could re-make both pairs of glasses using my old glasses as a model for my old prescription, which wasn't that different from the new one, and that my eyes still liked very much and caused no discomfort to see through. Irvin, another kind associate, said not to worry, and that they could indeed use those old lenses to ascertain the original prescription to make me 2 new pairs. I was in a state of deep emotional distress over this whole thing with the new prescription causing eye strain and discomfort, and Irvin was very supportive, as was the rest of the staff. Now here's where they really came through for me. I came right in as soon as I got off of the phone, and brought in my old pair as a model for the original prescription. They not only made me a new pair of glasses the same day, but they made them for me on the spot, and had me a new pair within and hour and a half. The second pair took a few days as those lenses were not in stock. But they came through for me when I really needed them, and I was driving home with that first pair and able to go back to work that day, and resume my life with a brand new pair of glasses which were absolutely perfect and comfortable from the moment I put them on. The second pair are also perfect, and today I am enjoying excellent vision and total comfort, thanks to these awesome people. I have dealt with about five staff members in total here, every one of whom has treated me with respect, professionalism and courtesy. On top of that, the whole atmosphere of the store is so much better than any other place I have visited. It is quiet, classy and elegant in comparison to so many other cold, impersonal places where you just feel like another number. The personalized, genuine customer service here, coupled with the atmosphere and total experience is miles above any other place I have purchased glasses. Truly, I shall remain a customer for life. Highly, highly recommended. I am completely satisfied and happy, and also quite relieved to have found this wonderful place. Worth every penny and a true pleasure to do business here. read more

Since the 1st pair were not right after waiting a month to get. She suggested putting them in another frame. They still weren't right. The sales women told me to take them home for awhile and try. I did. They are still not right. Of course after 350.00 later I am stuck with out glasses. I feel duped by pearl Vision because of my ignorance about glasses. I should of just got readers. The lady upfront took a lot of time out of her busy day and finally after spending 15 minutes on the phone, she found out who my vision insurance is through. I cannot thank her enough. Where to start. The doctor was around twenty minutes late for my appointment. I was told that my glasses would take up to two weeks to come in. At two weeks, when I hadn't heard from them, I called to check on the status. Lo and behold, my glasses were in and had been for who knows how long. Looking closer at the frames almost a week later, I'm pretty sure that they sold me the display frames. The ear pieces were covered in nastiness and there is a chip out of the color on the frames, exactly where the display frames had one. Will not be returning. read more

I have been to Pearle Vision twice, and both times each of the ophthalmologist I saw did a good job. My real issue is that I had an appointment last Wednesday afternoon and by Friday evening I had an infection in my left eye. I called on Saturday to let them know, and I wasn't even blaming but the woman who I spoke with immediately took a condescending tone. She said "we have had no reports of pink eye." Well lady! I'm telling you now that someone has pink eye now. (I didn't say that, I only thought it). Then she said "we wipe everything with alcohol so we are good". Um did you wipe down every pair of eyeglass too? She never asked anything about my eyes, or if I wanted an appointment to confirm the pink eye. I finally just said, I wanted my prescription sent to me so I could take my business elsewhere. She confirmed my email address and I am still waiting for my info. Avoid! There are many other places who will gladly treat you with more respect..... maybe even a little empathy, as you have goop coming out of your eye. And, an update..... I called on Wednesday to request, again, to have my script sent to me. After being out on hold, the guy who answered the phone came back and said it was sent and the person that sent it is very good at that stuff so I should have received it. Here is the thing.... you have a customer on the phone saying she didn't get it. Rather than telling the customer how awesome your company is, fix the situation! It is as simple as saying "I'm so sorry you didn't receive it, let's confirm your email address and lets get that sent to you". At the start of the call, I mentioned what had happened and why I wanted the script. He told me Megan had read my yelp review, and she was surprised. ..... within 4 hours they had read my yelp review? And, NO one has even thought to ask me about my eyes? Not once! Or, thought to ask me if I wanted an appointment to be checked? However, they surely ask about my yelp review? Priorities are completely out-of-whack! read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this place. We, as a family have been in several times & everyone we have talked to was kind, knowledgeable & helpful. I can be very picky and quite frankly a nuisance when it comes to getting it perfect. But these guys put up with my being picky and got it right. They were fun to spend time with ! I friend directed me to Dr. Lorenz and this particular Pearl Vision, and I am so glad he did. On a day I was to drive from the Denver area to Utah, I awoke with a badly irritated eye, was on my last contact and managed to break my glasses. Meagan was a terrific help and managed to squeeze me in. Dr. Lorenz went way beyond the routine exam to make sure that my eyes were healthy, that the redness was minor, and took extra steps to be sure I had the right set of contacts. He was ready to send me to someone else if he did not have what my eyes required. Do not go to this location! Completely rude and unprofessional. We went to this office that we have been a customer at few times for my family. We went to ask for suggestions as my husband had an issue with his glasses. The gentleman was completely rude. We were never even allowed into his store let alone offered any help at all. We needed a suggestion for a quick fix if possible since he was unable to see without his glasses. We also clearly needed to have a long term solution as well. His glasses were damaged to the point that he could not see. The gentlemen made it very clear that he had no intention of helping us and he was rude enough that another customer that was waiting felt she needed to apologize for his behavior. He left his establishment and went to another Pearle Vision to see about getting assistance with obtaining my husbands perscription so we could find the quickest solution. The same gentleman refused to provide us with the prescription, leaving my husband with no possible option for getting anything to help him. We will never support this location or business if this is the general practices for treating and helping their customers. read more

I went in with my prescription from my doctor and was told by the sales person that I was required to get transition bifocal lenses (which cost much more and are not fully covered by my insurance). I was told that if I wanted lined bifocals, I would need to get a new prescription. I went back to my doctor who told me that there was no such requirement and that they were trying to get me to spend more money. read more

I have been coming to the particular Pearl Vision for about 15 years! Initially, I wasn't really sure what to expect as I hadn't had very good luck with vision places. Being naive and not really knowing what I needed to do for my little girls, I walked in and talked to Jay...I shared my concerns and he was awesome! The Dr was pretty cool too, albeit a little quirky, but we love him all the same. The front office staff is awesome and we have become part of their family. I have obtained 2 pairs of glasses from the Lakewood Pearl Vision & my 2 experiences have been great. Meagan is very knowledgeable as well as quite the humorist. She has a great bedside manner & always makes you feel like she is truly concerned about your experience....that's because she genuinely is! I had an issue with my last set of glasses in which neither of the issues were their fault. One lens just fell out & needed to be remade. That was done with no issue & when I got them back with that corrected lens, the other lens had a weird aberration that was difficult for others to see. They accepted that there was an issue without hesitation & sent the glasses back to have both lenses remade of course at no cost to me. The glasses arrived in a week & Voila, no issues at all.
