Great park with a small pond area and lots of live animals. Green lawn with parking all around the perimeter and down residential streets. Foldable plastic chairs - bring a cushion. Good acoustics and side areas for dancing. Bathrooms and concession stands available. ADA seating.

Mango drink. Nonosina Summerland Festival 6/25/2017

I was invited to check out the Nonosina Summerland Festival here at Pearson Park and thought the park was a pretty chill place to visit, how chill may vary per weather condition. First off the park is huge with plenty of trees to lounge under. The amphitheatre is located towards the center of the park with an area for swimming along the side. The festival took place inside of the amphitheatre where you're front and center for the roast...from the sun that is. There is no shade in the seating area so if it's a hot day, prepare to get tanned or sun burned. This was the case for me and my friends but no worries, there was plenty of good entertainment and food that made the roast worth it. We occasionally took breaks to dive under a tree for shading. Both the shade and coolness from the grass helped to cool off. Besides the festival, there were lots of people/families out barbecuing and having fun. If there's one thing I love to see when going to a park, it's watching everyone have a great time with no room for drama. Pearson Park is a place I'd bring family and friends for a BBQ or just to relax. Depending on how hot it is and if open, possibly swimming as well. Nonosina Summerland Festival 6/25/2017

The Fab Four Concert @ Pearson Park Amphitheatre

The Most Cozy Amphitheatre I've ever been to in my life!! Not too big and just the right size. Outdoor like the Hollywood Bowl, but has more Family-Relaxing Atmosphere. Came here yesterday for The Fab Four concert! And had a Fabulous Time!! (http://www.thefabfour.com/) There is a food court behind the Theater, and foods and drinks were sold at very reasonable price!! If you like Beer & Wine they sell them in a cup for $3, Drumstick Ice Cream $2, Sour Straw Candy $1, BBQ's and many more for affordable price. Which was really nice because with $3 at elsewhere you can only get a bottle of water. Their motto is to provide "quality live family entertainment at affordable prices" I got The Fab Four ticket for $15 (Student) and since it was first come first serve, we had the best seat by coming out early. I will definitely check their web-site often for future events!! Btw, The Fab Four is Awesome!! Sounds exactly like The Beatles!! They even play all the instruments themselves!!

Office & Refreshments Area That Is Outside The Theatre.
    Nikkie S.

I love summer concerts that are outdoors and under the stars and this theater is the perfect place for it. This theatre is located in the middle of Pearson park in an open air atmosphere. Walking in, there is a waterfall in the front and then there are stairs leading up to the seats. There is a wire gate when not in use and this is the main entrance to get in. It is enclosed by a screen wall so that park goers do not have access to get inside. There are palm trees surrounding the front of the stage and it has stage lighting on each side of the theatre. There is a section of their office outside to purchase tickets and get show information. This is not open everyday - check the website for the hours. There is also a refreshment window located next to the office that sells variety of snacks and drinks. The seating areas are separated into sections by letter and each seats are numbered. The seats are similar to baseball seats and can get uncomfortable (made of hard plastic) especially on the back. It has its own restrooms inside the theatre so you do not have to leave and use the park's restroom. During winter time definitely bring a jacket - this does not have a roof for rainy days. What is nice about this venue is that you can rent the whole amphitheater for your own shows. You can email them the details letting them know what you need. The parking is horrible - this park is shape like a circle and the parking is very limited (only on the outside area) and there are no big parking lots available. Arrive early it can take up to 20 minutes looking for a spot if the park has plenty of people. Parking is free and no meters needed. Do not bring your own alcohol in the theater (they are strict about this), the refreshment stand sells beer and wine depending on the event. When summer starts check the website for flyers for summer festivals and movie nights most are free or a small charge depending on the shows.

Then I got a white claw, this part is my mistake I guess but I didn't know , but I went to step outside for a moment to get some fresh air and security came outside and aggressively SNATCHED my white claw and threw it away, I was stunned. He ended up feeling bad because I cried because I'm sensitive lol and gave me a new white claw but that whole thing was just uncalled for and crazy - a simple "hey you can't have that outside either throw it away or come back in" would have done fine. THEN, and yall; I was a little lit but not drunk drunk, I was talking to the bar tender we were chopping it up and having a good talk then this girl who I said I hi to thought I was hitting on her and I told her I was married to a man and then I asked her "did you think I was hitting on you" she dismissed me but then apparently she told the bar tender that I did something because I was ASKED TO LEAVE - I have never in my life written a review for anywhere and I also have never EVER been escorted out of a bar at all let alone for no valid reason. I wish it went better because love dancing and it's a place to dance near my house but i definitely will never be back and would NOT reccomend this bar to anyone ever.

However, you don't always want to feel like you're trying too hard to change your scenery, bumping you too far out of your comfort zone. The answer my friends, is the good old classic American dive bar. Now, many places like to call themselves a dive bar just because they never clean a single inch of their establishment and have seedy patrons that love to play the more than occasional 80's songs on the jukebox but don't be mistaken, a good dive bar is hard to find. Well, I happen to have found one and it's in Fullerton of all places. That's right, Fullerton, not Los Angeles, nor Hollywood nor some pop-culturally over-hyped city. What makes The Blue Door a good dive bar? First, there's earned consistency & routine. The drinks won't always be made well, or the bartender won't always be attentive but if you come a few times, you'll soon know at what time and day the drinks are made properly by knowing the schedules of the bartenders. Secondly, the drinks are stiff, the service is friendly and nobody bothers you unless you bother them. The atmosphere goes from lively and loud to quiet and solitary, again depending upon when you visit. Lastly, they're open from 6:00AM-2:00AM. They're not just there when the hipsters are around, they're there for you whenever you make the bad decision of using alcohol as an anesthetic. Stay searching for the last remains of Americana my friends....

With doors opening about an hour before the concert, the GA line tends to be longer than expected, and most of the venue is standing-room-only unless you opt for "premium" price for seats. Even so, the "standing only" crowd is usually respectful, and despite the tight space, the atmosphere stays fun. But, for short folks like myself, can be a major disadvantage as crowds beginning to move toward the front and blocking the view. From a concert going perspective, wear comfortable shoes is best as you're standing through the two+ hours. The ventilation is okay so you could get warm fairly quickly. Plus, there's four bar stations throughout the venue so there's no shortage of drinks for purchase (snacks are available, too). Overall, I like that the parking garage is attached to the HOB along with many other shops. HOB representatives also offered discounts parking -- so you pay $8 for unlimited parking (rather than $4/hour).

Ladies, just a heads up, they do check your purses before entry, and there's a $10 cover per person. I highly recommend getting a table if you can. There's a minimum spend. For us, it was $125 for food and drinks, but it's worth it to have a spot to sit, relax, and actually enjoy the band and the view of the dance floor without hovering around. The live band was so much fun. Everyone was out there line dancing to both country and pop songs, and the energy was contagious. Even if you don't know the dances, it's still a blast to watch and soak in the positive high energy crowd. Next time, I'm definitely coming earlier to learn a few moves and fully join in. They have two food menus plus a drink menu. Food wise, it was decent. I ordered the ranch steak burger (cooked medium) with fries, and it was a good solid choice. The warm campfire chocolate cookie with vanilla ice cream was a nice sweet treat to end the night. Service is where this place really shines. From the security to the staff to even the guests, everyone was incredibly welcoming. You can tell there are a lot of regulars, and it creates this friendly, almost community like atmosphere. Our waitress (I didn't catch her name) was amazing. It has its own "fast lane" entrance where there is rarely a wait to gain entry. You walk through the private entrance and take an elevator upstairs. The entrance area is decorated beautifully. It is dimly lit with red backlit Buddha statues and a beautiful chandelier overhead. Once you check-in and get your show tickets, you are offered complimentary champagne and guided into the main lounge area. It is also dimly lit, and there is definitely a wow factor when you walk in. The orange and pink ceiling really sets a vibe. There are various couches, lounge chairs, and tables around the room. The bar looks elegant and has nice looking lit columns. There are also large semi-private booths along the wall. The restrooms are upscale and there is usually an attendant. We were going to eat and have a drink before the show, so we had a booth reserved. The booths are U-shaped and are very large. They can easily accommodate ten or more people comfortably. I had the unami double burger ($22), and it was delicious and filling. The Mediterranean salad with salmon ($24) and chili crisp wings ($18) were also enjoyed at the table. We all also enjoyed an old fashioned. Our server was very friendly and took excellent care of us. The lounge also has a small stage. Half way through our meal, a band setup and started playing. Members still get VIP seating at the back of the floor with elevated seating that overlooks the general admission crowd. Both VIP areas include food and cocktail service.
