We decided to try this winery today for my wife's birthday celebrations. Located on the main strip in Geyserville. The decorating was fantastic, great place for photos. I enjoyed the lounge style seating available. The best part was being able to order food from Diavola right next door. (See my review) The nice lady pouring for us took my wife through a full flight. I was driving so no vino for me. She enjoy most of the wines and bought 2 bottles of their rosé wine. We would come back again. read more

Walked into this tasting room before our dinner reservation, very nice lady working there to help us. We were the only ones in there for a Saturday which it was very quiet- we wish music was playing or there were some table games.. We had a glass of Sauvignon blanc and it was very nice and refreshing. We enjoyed looking at the decor inside and all the different features. All in all very nice inside place with decor and things to look at, we only wish there was some music planning or some games to play. read more

One of our yelp friends was wine tasting in Geyersville. So when we were coming south on our road trip we noticed the exit. Doing some quick yelping we found Pech Merle having a solid 5 stars. The winery dog noticing our dog quickly came out to meet us. Very friendly dog. Olivia our server was very nice and explained the winerys origin and destined future build on a vineyard. We tasted probably 5 to 6 wines, really liked two. The sangiovese and grenache and bought a bottle of each. The tasting room is nicely decorated and has many nice touches. There is an outside patio that is completely private just off the tasting room. This is a fun place, they even have a 1908 Harley Davidson motorcycle as a decoration. Pretty cool. Pech Merle was the last winery of my wine tour, so I was totally drunk at this point. I'm 99% sure the friendly staff knew it too, but they took it well, as everyone is drunk at 4pm in wine country. I remember the wine being "good", but can't tell you much more than that. They have a nice lounge area and a ski lift swing that everyone needs to take a photo on. Hopefully when I'm back I'll be more sober to tell you more wonderful things. read more

We came here for the Wine & Food Affair event last weekend. Really nice set-up and friendly staff! The wines are good. My favorite is the 2013 Rocky Ridge Rockpile Zinfandel. It sells for $45. Their other wines are just as expensive, if not more. The 2012 Cab Franc is $49 and the 2009 Cab Sauv is $53. A bit pricey for your every day wines, and therefore I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5. While I'm not opposed to paying those prices for a bottle, none of their bottles really screamed, "take me home". I would definitely recommend stopping by here though, if you're in the area! read more

WOW!!! These are some of my favorite wines EVER! I first visited Pech Merle at their original location in Dry Creek at their cool, steel building in September 2013 with a group of friends for a wine country weekend getaway. We got to sample all of their varietals while sitting around a giant wooden crate in cute, blue Adirondack chairs and enjoy some tasty bites with the company of amazing friends, all while the sun set off the coast creating this magical glow between the trees. It was fabulous! The old oak tree on the property is 300+ years old and is magnificent in all its glory. Everything here was just absolutely charming and comfortable - no pretense or stuffiness. The wines are truly outstanding and they do an amazing job of selecting only the perfect grapes and locations to grow them and you can really taste the quality in each of their small batch wines. While I was there, I knew I had to sign up for their wine club (I chose Devoted Reds), and three times a year when I receive my shipments, it's like Christmas! I always look forward to opening the box and discovering the new wines along with some of my old favorites. I'm pretty much obsessed with their Treborce Zinfandel, but I guess I'll just have to await some of their other award-winning varietals now that it's all gone! (Moral of the story here: if you find a wine that you LOVE, be sure to buy enough to sustain you because it won't be around forever!) I'm so excited to visit their new tasting room in Geyserville the next time I'm out there! With what they represented at their first location, I can only imagine all the great things to be experienced in their new location! I've seen a few pictures and it looks neat ... different from what you might expect, which is just part of what sets them apart. First and foremost: the wines are divine. DI-VINE. (see what I did there? would you believe unintentional?) I spent a long weekend drinking my way across Napa and Sonoma (with a driver, duh! drinking and driving is not cool) and this is the winery that made me break my rule that I wouldn't become a member at any wineries on this trip. The rose. The sauv blanc. The pinot noir. The vioggnier for chrissakes - the VIOGNIER. Very reasonable prices on bottles. A steal, IMO, given the quality. The staff was so great. Jenna was immediately friendly and knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the wines they are making. (don't tell her this but I maybe secretly want to be friends) (Oh hi Jenna, if you're reading this!) I could have hung out in the tasting room all day. So gorgeous and airy and welcoming and comfy. We stopped in to this winery last weekend, looking for a bathroom. The staff was so friendly and welcoming that we decided to stay and check it out. Love the California Rustic Chic interior! Also, we received the absolute best service from Ivy Rose (she even has a Rose named after her.) The wine was very good. I especially liked the barrel tasting we had of the Carignane, which I was completely unfamiliar with. The Sauv Blanc and Viognier were both delicious! Both the reds and whites were good, solid wines. They have a lot of events at the winery and the fun and friendly atmosphere will definitely get us to return. Cheers! read more

The team at Pech Merle is amazing. They welcome you like family always! They continue every year to make fantastic wines that cannot be beaten! My favorites include the Rose, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet. But try them all, you won't be disappointed! The new tasting room is gorgeous and you can tel they didn't miss a detail. Peche Merle winery is such a great place in Sonoma Valley! We had a group of 12 people and we called ahead and the Peche Merle team had a great spread of cheese and nuts that paired perfectly with the wine selections. The Pech Merle 2013 Sauvignon Blanc (Dry Creek Valley) was really a treat as well as the 2008 Cabernet Alexander Valley. I loved the 2011 Treborce Zinfandel! The tasting room is a beautiful modern masterpiece with a high style interior with impeccable design. It's the perfect location in Geyserville and is a don't miss - as well as the restaurant next door. This was a great find and epitomized the Sonoma Valley experience. Mike and I had the opportunity to visit Pech Merle Winery last weekend and loved everything about it from the wonderful staff, Jenna especially, to the lovely space, but most importantly the great wines. We left with our hands full of Sauvignon Blanc and Rose...and are now members of their wine club. As Jenna told us they are not a huge producer, so it is about quality over quantity. If you are headed to Gyerseville be sure to stop by. Any trip to wine country it is worth it to go further north and visit Pech Merle. read more

Was introduced to this winery through a dear friend. I was skeptical at joining the wine club, due to me usually only liking one or two varietals from a winery. However, during our tasting I found I was enjoying almost every wine and varietal tasted. I became a "Devoted" wine club member right away. The owners have put their heart and soul into their wines, and it shows (and tastes) as such. Their wine maker has been in the industry forever and he knows his stuff. Adorable place on an even super cute street. Myself and the group of girls went wine tasting for the first time and this was our first stop of the day. We were greeted with big smiles from the staff. I had called ahead to let them know we has a large party coming and Jenna was ready for us. She was SUPER sweet and was really fun to talk to. She really knows Pech Merle Wines very well. She even took the time to take our group picture on, i think, on all of our phones LOL. I left Pech Merle with a smile and two bottles. Matter of fact my whole group left with a bottle or two. This is a very warm and welcoming place and the wine is really good. if you are ever in the area you should stop in and try them. I would ask for Jenna if she is there. NIGHTMARE. THE TORTURE OF WHAT THEY CALL THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEIR DELIVERY SERVICE, GOLDEN STATE OVERNIGHT, IS APPALLING. Signed up for wine club and months later receive an email stating our first wine club shipment was about to be sent...weeks later no wine. I write to them and they have not shipped it yet, I ask that it not be shipped as I was going out of town and she said it can't be stopped, it was already on the pallet (shipments were not going out for a week). I agreed that I had to then receive the shipment and had it sent to my assistants. No wine delivered. I contact them once I returned and tell them no wine was received and they apologize and say it will be sent right out. I again ask if it can not be delivered, I again am going out of town. She again tells me she can't cancel the order as it's already in the process of being sent out. Really? I just told you I didn't get it the first time, clearly is wasn't in the process of being shipped out. I tell them it has to go to my assistants as I will not be here and they tell me they can't leave it on the porch of a home because someone has to sign for it. So, I arrange for it to be sent to my address during a time I will be in town. Finally it's supposed to arrive (this has been about 4-5 weeks of going back and forth over this 1st wine club shipment) and it never does, I'm actually home all day and no one rang the buzzer to get in. They tell me to contact the delivery company because once it leaves their location they have no control over it. I told them I want out of their wine club, have been going back and forth over the 1st delivery for over a month and I'm not doing this for a whole year. They agreed to let me out of the wine club if I agree to take this one shipment. Talking to Samantha Johnson at the delivery company, Golden State Overnight, she says they tried to deliver it and couldn't get in. Marked it as "Security Gate" for the reason for no delivery. I live in a building that you have to scroll through a directory of 16 apartments to get a code to be buzzed in. This is a very common buzzer system. There is no security gate, clearly the guy didn't take the time to scroll through the names to be buzzed in. Talking to Samantha again, she assured me she will give the delivery person clear directions and it will be delivered the next day between 8-12. I wait. 12:10 I contact her as I have to leave and tell her there is no package and ask if I'm able to just decline the package and have it shipped back to the sender? She again apologizes for the inconvenience of this package delivery and says I'm able to refuse this shipment and have it returned back to the shipper or they can reschedule for you if today no longer works. Yeah, not sitting around another minute waiting for your company to figure out how to deliver a package. No thanks, I did not reschedule. During all of this Pech Merle was in the loop as I dealt with their inability to ship the package out when they said it was going out, and the company they choose to use for delivery. I again contacted Olivia Potter about this and told her again that I do not want this shipment. I've been in communication about it for weeks and I don't want to continue to email them or the delivery people about it or wait for another deliver window for them not to show. FINALLY the owner of the company gets involved, Bruce Lawton emails me and states "I heard you had an unsatisfactory experience with your recent wine club shipment. I apologize that these problems occurred and that you were inconvenienced. We have canceled your wine club as you requested and refunded your last shipment." FINALLY it's over! Everyone that I had been telling about this nightmare for the last 5 weeks ask "did you at least get some free wine?" Nope, no mention of anything to compensate me for my weeks of time spent. BUT IT'S OVER! Then the next day as I'm leaving out of town, I get a delivery, sign for it w/o looking at who it's from (I work from home and get multiple deliveries at my residence and assistants, almost daily). I later see it's from this wine company! They actually sent the wine as a gesture of good will? When the owner wrote he refunded my last shipment he must have meant it's on us, sorry for the horrible experience and just didn't say it. So, telling everyone how the drama ended, they all stated, "well at least you got some wine out of it." NOPE! Two months later I see I'm charged! They state it's because I didn't decline it!? I told the delivery company I was declining it and not setting up a future delivery. I own a small biz, if a mistake is made and a client is unhappy, I comp them for the unsatisfactory experience and give them something free so there are no hard feelings, min $50. Bruce took off the delivery charge of $18.84! WOW. Thanks. Seriously? I've been extremely cordial all things considered. Can't wait to update everyone on the punchline to this ongoing joke. WOM marketing. read more

Update: We stopped this place on our last trip to Sonoma. We had a nice time at tasting room so we ordered 6 bottles to be shipped at a later (cooler) date. The next day, John, the manager called to get our credit card number again and asked if we could consider adding 6 more bottles to complete a case of 12. These are pricey bottles, but we figured what the hey, we had a nice time we will go for it and help him out. A couple months later, we received our first shipment that came in just as expected. But then then a few months later, I saw a $500+ charge on my credit card for a similar order from them that said "wine club order." I never asked to join their wine club. I had been out of town so i never noticed we received an order. When i called them they apologized for assuming i wanted to be a part of their wine club and said that they would cancel any future orders Great, but what about the $500 order i was billed and didn't want??? I was stuck with it because the secretary at our building signed for it since we were out of town. We have no idea what wine was shipped as our housekeeper put all wine we were expecting in our cellar. I didn't notice the credit card charge till 3 months after the fact so i had no paperwork corresponding with order to figure it out. Got a nice card and apology from owner. There was obviously some issues while she was away on maternity leave. As a small business owner myself I can empathize with things falling to the cracks while you are gone. I admire your efforts, and apologize if I cannot respond to your email. I sought it but since then I have received about 1200 more so not sure how to get to ones from last week . This place is a pinterest/instagram/vibey dream!! The decor is all based off of different areas of CA (Squaw lift chair (guessed that correctly BTW..), custom CA republic flag, surf boards, boats, lots of plants, etc.). The service was amazing and the woman pouring had plenty of great information about the winery, wines, and the local area. We each got a tasting and enjoyed spending a rainy afternoon just hanging out (with another couple who were like 70 and SO ADORABLE SWING DANCING AROUND), I died. This place has so much personality and charm-it's definitely one of my favorites in the area. You can always stop in before dinner at Catellis and have a fantastic night. read more

This was a random delicious find! The wine is amazing and so affordable! We joined the wine club and even bought a few extra bottles to take away. The only bummer was we loved this way more then the last spot we went to and they were 3 times as expensive. So stop here first. The staff is friendly and throw fun parties for all to enjoy. Very good wines and a pleasant knowledgeable host. The cab franc is superb, and the syrah rose is one of the best I have had in the area. Normally I would deduct a star for overpriced tasting fees, but since the fee disappears when you buy, I'll give them a pass for $10 for four wines and an additional $15 for three more. read more

Reasons you should stop in at Pech Merle: - Excellent wines that are solid throughout the lineup. Also, while I love the Zinfandels that this area is known for, it's great to try their Sauv Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Cab Franc among other varietals. - Really nice staff and owners. You'll get the download on the wines, info about the area from people who have lived here, and sincere, engaging and fun conversation. - It's open until 6. Whether you're about to have dinner at Diavola or Catelli's nearby, you're maxing out your winetasting day, or you just didn't have a chance to get out earlier, you'll be happy that it's open later than most places in wine country. - Your dog can join you inside. I don't have one yet, but I enjoy seeing dogs stop in with their owners. - It's conveniently near 101 so if you're just visiting Alexander Valley or Dry Creek Valley, you can swing by and get back on the highway. Just be aware that it's on the main drag in town so you're not surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. It's still charming in its own way though. I live part-time in Geyserville, joined the wine club here a few years ago, and stop in very frequently. They are going to open another location before long and that will provide another reason to be a member. While things occasionally get busy, there typically aren't a lot of people inside and that'll give you a chance to talk with the great people that work here. This place is not snobby in any way - it's a mellow spot to try quality and not overly pricey wines with good company. Give it a try. read more
