While it's kind of cool to check out once just to say you've been there, it's definitely not somewhere I'd go back to or spend my money again. There are so many better bars in Nashville that offer a more fun atmosphere, better service, and better drinks. We also had some interactions that made members of our group feel unwelcome, which put an even bigger damper on the experience. I tried to interest folks in their $6 "Recession Special" - A grilled or fried bologna sandwich piled high, with a bag of potato chips, a Moon Pie, and a cold Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) beer, but got no takers. We sat up on the balcony, which we had all to ourselves and with a nice view to the main floor below. Our waitresses were down home friendly, hard working, and good at what they were doing. We loved Frankie J's so much that we ended up going back every day of our trip, even if it was just to grab a coffee or some nachos. Every night had something different going on, from trivia to tarot readings, which made the place feel even more special. For the table, we ordered the nachos (didn't add chicken) and surprisingly it was pretty good! I would have liked for the toppings to be spread out amongst the chips (once you get to the middle, bottom they were empty). For my drink, I decided to try their bridesmaid's tears and this drink was just ok. It watered down very easily and didn't really have much flavor. I ordered the catfish and subbed fries instead of the grits and it came with collard greens. This meal was ok but the catfish wasn't fried hard (as I requested) and the greens were too vinegar based. The fries, however, were good! The sauce they offered - crawfish cream sauce - was way too oily and didn't have good flavor. Would've preferred a tartar sauce, though. Overall, the spot was ok. It had its hits and misses!

We weren't complaining, but wondered why? The first floor at Acme has been described as a high-energy "Funky Tonk" atmosphere featuring a main stage for live music, a large bar, and fast-casual dining. Our band during our stage was even a little different than that, and what an enjoyable group is was! The Mudbug Stompers brought us the sounds of old-time jug bands, Dixieland jazz, blues, trains, baseball, and crawfish boils. Although this is a Nashville Band, we could have easy been on or around Bourbon Street in NOLA. I was particularly impressed with the trumpet player and the lead singer who played a mean mandolin. Add the string base, sax, and fiddle, and we experienced a very impressive whole. We were highly entertained and engaged, and we're still talking about the experience!
