To his credit he was knowledgeable, and somewhat informed me of what I was buying. However I snapped my crankshaft pedaling, not even three weeks after normal trail riding. I took it back in for the warranty, they were very busy on a Sunday. I waited for about 10-15 minutes, with my crankshaft in hand. I understand they were busy so I didn't mind the wait. Then the manger/owner, walks by me without acknowledging me or asking what was wrong, sees the crankshaft in my hand and says "your gonna have to leave that here" and walked away. I didn't even get a word in. I was stunned a little bit, less than 3 weeks ago he sold me a bike worth quite a lot of money. So I, left and went to Momentum on Mid Rivers, as soon as I walked in they greeted me and asked me how they could help. They explained everything to me and I dropped my bike off for them to work on. Mid Rivers now has a life long customer, I have gotten my friends into mtb and they shop at mid rivers. Moral of the story is, customer service is key.

I took my 3 wheel recumbent to this shop to have three new tires mounted. When I got my bike back…read morehome, the chain was almost falling off the sprocket! But that was only part of the problem. The control arm for the Shimano Nexus hub was not secured properly! I had to take off the back tire and remount the control arm. I had to call TerraTrike and find out how it went back together. They were very good at explaining the process. There are colored dots that have to be aligned so the control arm is seated properly. I aligned the dots and also installed the lock ring properly by using its mounting dot.I remounted the rear tire and put the correct tension on the chain. Now it is back together like it's supposed to be. I would never take my bike back there again! And when I called them and told them all of this, they didn't seem to care. Very poor workmanship! I would not recommend them to anyone!

The trail near Defiance is a beautiful part of the trail, lots of scenic views of the river. Many wineries, breweries and eating places nearby is a plus. We came back a little late on our 2 hour rental but he didn't gouge us for more. Highly recommend renting bikes here if you are looking for a great Katy Trail experience.
