My husband called to purchase a chain this morning. The price was marked $49. I picked up up for him not knowing. We were charged $54. We called to inquire about being charged the wrong price since the sticker on it was less. We were simply told "there's been a price change" This literally all happened with it 30 minutes of calling to purchase it and me picking it up. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS! THIS IS FRAUD! OK I am going to review this on just the service I received and nothing more. I have already picked out a bike and have it in layaway at another store; but I have been told 4-5 time to try some other bikes and make sure I still feel the same about the one I have picked out. So I went Down the road a little further to Momentum Cycles. I have been here before but it has been a while and I figured maybe a whole separate bike brand would maybe sway me one way or the other. I walked in and noticed that they had maybe reorganized and it looked a little better as far as organization. I noticed that they still were a predominately a Trek house and had a few others but nothing to get overly excited over. I walked around for what seemed like 15-20 minutes before someone even asked me if I needed help. It looked like they were fitting a ladies bike for her and were pretty involved but no one even said hi or acknowledged me in any way at all. I walked around and saw some bikes in my range but nothing that stood out as something I would really get into. I also wanted to grab a few out and at least sit in them to "feel" it out but 98% of the bikes had no pedals on them. I understand that they come that way but how am I going to actually tell if I like it if I don't sit on the damn bike first. I figure maybe if I get someone to help me I can get them to put some basic pedals on and test some out. Finally one of the owners came over and asked me what I was needing help with. So I told him that I was looking for a road bike and how much I was looking to spend. He then proceeded to tell me about the entire line of road bikes but went from the bottom to the top as if I cared what was on the $6K bike. I also never saw him once offer to put any pedals on any of the bikes and have me do a test ride. He was very nice and informative but I was basically saying I want to spend $2,000.00+ in your store and he didn't really seem to respond. Also I didn't like that with multiple bikes that we looked at I would grab the tag to look at the price and he would say "Oh that isn't the price on that it is on Clarence now." I thought really then why is it marked differently, I refuse to buy something from people when they "have to check the price" I feel like they are sizing me up trying to figure out if I will be suckered into paying more than something is worth. In the end I feel like I made a good decision with not staying to long here and I will end up getting the bike I want somewhere else. read more

Bikes are hard to find right now. I've been looking for several months and nothing is in stock. With that said when you find a bike you buy it! Called ahead to make sure it was in stock. When we arrived nobody acknowledged we even walked in. I even apologized for arriving 45 min before closing and nobody responded. Then I was noticing nobody was wearing a mask or kept social distance with my family all wearing masks. I told my kids to go to the other side of the store. I'm not sure why the young adults who work there need to be rude and don't care about their customers health? This isn't the first time we have been in this store and had the staff act rude. I just wrote it off as a bad day for them, but now after it happened twice it's pretty much how they are. Such a shame. read more

Best bike shop around! I bought my bike at momentum on Mexico, I regret spending the money there instead of here. Customer service is hands down all around better here. Staff is awesome and care about the customers. They have a life long customer now. read more

Really great people to help you pick out a bike to fit your needs. Low pressure when looking and buying, no pressure to buy and you can tell bikes are their passion. Also, great mechanics and super helpful. I had a trek 2200 that i needed a new wheel and they gave me a great deal on a used one that kept the bike rolling! So I just purchased a Trek Domane SL6 and again they answered all my questions and I got a great deal on the bike. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place! The guy who helped me pick out my bike was patient and very knowledgeable. I ended up with a Trek Verve 2. He took me out to the parking lot and explained the gears and let me give it a test drive. It was nice because I didn't feel pressured. They seem to run some awesome deals as well! My wife and I recently moved to St Peters and were looking to purchase new bikes. Checked out several bike stores in the area including Momentum Cycles in St Peters. Momentum is not the fanciest store but they had a great selection, straightforward pricing, and very helpful staff. Steve, the owner, couldn't have been more accommodating. He went out of the way to insure we ended up with the bikes we wanted. I cannot imagine getting better customer service anywhere else. We are very happy with our purchase. I'm not a bike fanatic. I'm just a guy who rides his mountain bike to try and stay in shape. The staff at Momentum has always taken care of me. Steve and his staff are always there to take care of me. Great location and easy to get to. Just over a mile south of Mid Rivers Mall. read more

I am a tough critic when it comes to customer service so I have to be honest with my rating here. Two stars are given due to my most recent experience here. Having been a long time customer I called to inquire about bikes for my family. The employee I spoke to on the phone prior to coming in didn't have the patience to go over pricing for the "sale" and would only tell me that it's different for each bike. I explained I didn't want to drive all the way there if the price wasn't going to fit our budget. She said she would have to check the sheet and couldn't give me an idea because there were so many bikes to choose from. I lost patience with trying to get an answer and went in to see the bikes for themselves. The "so many bikes" was 3 styles in the store. What a joke. So I ask for pricing on those bikes and it was still high. She was not very friendly and made remarks off and on that came across as cocky as well as only caring about the sale. She told me she would have the training wheels put on but it could take every bit of 2-3 hours and we would have to come back. She said they'd have to take them out of the box, put them on and make sure they would work. (Exaggerated to me as the guy had them put on in 5 min and they were not busy at all). Needless to say I only bought the bikes there for the warranty and the man that had always helped us in the past. Whether or not I'll be back I don't know because I'll be looking into other bike shops for my own needs to avoid that again. read more

I've been a steady customer at this store for about 8 years. Bought a couple of bikes, lots of gear, plenty of parts, and they've generally been helpful. So, Momentum sponsored a race. I took my bike in two weeks ahead of said race, wrote a note explaining that I needed a tune-up, some heavy-duty tubes, new heavy-duty tires, and the Kevlar strips inside the tires. Thanked them profusely, made sure two phone numbers were on my note, and left. I went back in a week later, and my bike was sitting on the front sidewalk with a couple of tires and a plastic grocery bag hanging off the handlebars. I went in and finally found sales rep to ask about my bike. He informed me that they had it scheduled for 9 days AFTER the race. So, I paid for my parts, took the bike and left. Note that I've purchased the "Gold Service Package", where labor for the life of the bike is covered. They made it clear that they were refusing to service the bike until 9 days after I needed it. If that wasn't bad enough, the tubes and tires were all standard-duty. One tube went bad in less than two weeks. Now, what would I have wanted? Phone call like this. "Hey, this is Momentum Cycles. We aren't going to be able to get to your bike before your race. You can take it to our other store, or someplace else." Sound unreasonable? I didn't think so. It's not like they didn't have a written note explaining when I needed the bike - for a race they were sponsoring. I went back in to pick up the race packet. Pointed out to the owner that on the receipt for the parts, they'd charged $5 per tire over the price tag on the tires themselves. In other words, they'd marked up the tires by 25% each. In his defense, he offered to refund the difference, but I told him I wasn't requesting a refund - just wanted to point it out so if he saw a negative review online, he'd know from whence it came. He backed away from the register and started calling me all sorts of nasty things - said he had no incentive to make it right if I was going to badmouth him on the Internet. I'm all for "Support your local bike shop", but when the bike shop marks up prices above shelf rate and refuses to do the work, I'll have to find another LBS to support. It's too bad, too, because I've spent a few grand there over the past eight years. read more
