The service is fast and efficient. They are incredibly attentive to their patients and parents, especially children with autism or ADHD. The staff members who assist are excellent, they use the child's imagination to engage with them. They also utilize advanced technology for panoramic X-rays. Today I had to take my son to get some teeth removed and we were greeted by the receptionist who checked us in immediately. The dental assistant was very patient and friendly with my son especially when he was having anxiety while wearing the laughing gas mask. She nicely explained to him what he needed to do to be safe and get through his procedure. The dentist came in and saw that my son was still a little nervous and she explained to him what she was going to do and helped him relax. The dentist performed the extraction in a timely manner and after everything was done she even offered him a popsicle. It wasn't a long process and everyone involved was courteous and professional. The staff seem really nice. The chairs the kids sit in have TV's showing movies on the ceiling so that is nice to keep to keep attention off the fact they are having teeth cleaned or worked on. They do have a open room with 4 chairs. Me personally, I don't like the open concept for sound and privacy reasons. The sounds of kids crying, the tools cleaning, the cartoons, the front desk conversations, I personally find it overwhelming. But the office is clean and the staff is nice. They take our insurance. Stay away from Pediatric Dental Group in Lake Nona Dr. Hernandez is so unprofessional and rude I am so heartbroken from the experience my son had there today. My son left there with a full blown panic attack - This woman I'm not even gonna call her a doctor. Did not give time for the numbing cream to kick in, injected the needle right after DID NOT stop drilling when my son started screaming! She got so defensive when I told her to stop ! I know the dentist can be a hard experience for child specially at nine years old but if you're a pediatric dentist and your specialty is Pediatrics I feel like you should be a little more comforting, reassuring and understanding to a child - not so money hungry specially a dentist treating our kids in our community. This dental office main concern is getting as much money as they can from their customers. They will smile in your face and over charge the customer and especially their insurance. Which will eventually bring up premiums. We had to take our child back to their office multiple times to fix their sloppy dental work. They charged the insurance company ridicules amounts every time. Eventually, they just gave up and referred us to a specialist. The Doctors are callous and greedy. I would not recommend this dentist office to friends and family. My son has been going here since his first ever dentist appointment and we have had great experiences with the Doctors and staff. The dentist can be a scary place for a kid but Pediatric Dental Group makes it inviting and easy. The waiting room is rather large with toys for the kids to play with and the chairs are in an open area with TVs above playing movies. They allow parents to be right beside their children which is comforting and they always explain everything really well and seem to take a genuine interest in the kids. Only a 4-star for now because I have had some billing/insurance issues in the past....but the experience my son has overcome it at this point. read more

I have been taking my 3 kids here for years, first my oldest since he was 8 (now 16) and my two youngest since they were 3. The office is clean, organized and very pleasant. The staff is friendly, efficient and patient, a must when dealing with children. I used to take my son to a pediatric dentist in Hunters Creek and all he did was put him down about how we wasn't cleaning well enough or flossing well enough. He made us feel terrible and urged we spent $100 on some electronic toothbrush he sold there. You will find only kind, knowledge and patient staff at this wonderful Pediatric dentist. We've been bringing our pre-school aged son here for just over a year. The waiting area is nice and has some toys for the little ones. The treatment areas as nicely designed with kids and parents in mind. The children lay on a bed like platform, and there's enough room for a nervous mama like me to stand beside the little one and hold their hand while the doctors work. The doctors and techs are very sweet to the children and make a big show of showing the child each tool, letting them touch it if they like and generally de-scarifying the process. I have always had great experiences while visiting this dental group with both of my children (6 y.o son and 2 1/2 y.o. daughter). I never have a long wait and they are always very patient with my kids as they tend to be nervous. My son normally takes especially well to the doctors who make him comfortable (even after a prior double front tooth extraction). At our visit today he was so nervous and wouldn't allow the doctor to use her tool to check some staining on his back teeth. Instead of forcing him, she with care offered him time to relax. Even several other staff tried to calm him into the situation. After several attempts, the doctor respectfully offered to do a 3 month follow up and check again at that time because he was too upset. Even though I was personally feeling like we were being an inconvenience and there were other patients waiting to be seen... the staff were very understanding and in no way implied or made us feel like we were a burden. I love both doctors that we see here and we will continue using Pediatric Dental Group for my kid's dental needs! read more

Very unhappy with the service provided. First the receptionist code of ethics is the worst. Very sarcastic and very unwilling to heard other people. Paper were given and she was ask about them and her respond was that the other lady will speak to you. I deal with a lot of dentist office in my life but nothing like this office. Nobody knows nothing and they do what they want. As far as I know I'm the parent of the kid. Just because they are in Lake Nona doesn't mean they are good. I assure you that. Staff took my son to the back and didn't allow me to go with him for the extraction of 3 tooth and when he came out they took 7 tooth's. That is ridiculous. He was not alone at the appt. and the least that they could do was telling me and asking me. The doctor didn't even came out to speak about the extraction and the staff that brought him out didn't said anything about it. I will make she not to recommend this office to other people. The staff and the doctor needs to understand that they are dealing with kids. After I left had to called because I had a question and the receptionist again very rude and unprofessional told me that I should make all the questions when I was at their office. Not all of my visits to this dental group were 2-stars because I believe that they do have some very professional, welcoming, and caring individuals that work here at the Lake Nona location closer to Moss Park but once the Nona South location opened, I started taking my kids there which in my opinion had a whole different atmosphere and less kid friendly. My last visit/experience was nothing short of terrible customer service with Dr. Aina. She did not complete services that were paid for and appeared to be having a "bad day" and ultimately took it out on my child which made me furious but I chose to keep my composure. I am a professional, mild-mannered person and I believe in giving people second chances but there was no way I would stand by and watch this dentist treat my daughter as if she was misbehaving (under laughing gas) and speaking to her in a manner that any parent would find uncomfortable and disrespectful. For god sake, my daughter is only 6 and have never really gotten comfortable with the dentist process anyway and this dentist didn't make it any better. I charge the "pediatric" dentist to get better educated in her profession that serves children to gain more patience and the ability to find creative ways to overcome the challenges that children may present from time to time, and that is certainly not to become frustrated, respond emotionally, and then take your frustrations out on the child and the parent. To say the least, I politely requested a dismissal from this dentist for both of my children and will not refer anyone else to this practice or at least this dentist, her attitude and condescending nature was very distasteful and unprofessional. We went outside of her allotted time for the appointment and she did not like that although we are/were paying customers, we were treated as if we didn't really matter and were just a waste of her time. Patience is a virtue in the service field, please revisit what that is and apply it! read more

Reading some of the old reviews, they must have new management. I have two boys ages 7 and 8. One of them loves the dentist and one has anxiety and hates it. He hates everything about going to the dentist. I am not only always encouraged to stay with them but there are 4 chairs out in the open and two that are in rooms with doors that close. My son who has anxiety was in the chair in the room and the other was in the 4 open chairs. They do amazing with kids who don't do well at the dentist. They are patient and encouraging. If I could give zero stars, I would. I was "not allowed in the room" with my SIX year old son during treatment. They strapped him in this papoose when he's never needed it before and he screamed the whole time. They told me he wouldn't remember it because of the sedative, however he remembers them strapping him down and making me leave. I should've known then to get him out but I was in shock. His hands, neck, and bottom were all burned from what I call a straight jacket. They did not communicate to me that he would have to be alone until they already sedated him and strapped him in....I was initially told I could go in the room. We will never return, I have already gotten his dental records and will bring him to a new dentist. I DO NOT recommend this dentist to anyone who wants their kids to feel comfortable. read more

Now they are going thru some changes and they not longer accept some insurances. I came with my daughter to the office this week and I was seen so quickly and it didn't hurt that the assistant that was seeing my daughter, her name was Alissa, was not only pretty but child friendly. She explain everything to my little girl and made her laugh to help her nervousness. My daughter insists that the next time we come back for appointment that ms Alissa be her friend as she says to clean her teath. I want to extend a thank you to Alissa for doing well with my baby girl and making the visit so easy. My only complain is that Alissa was wearing the nurse outfit but the other girls were wearing tshirt polo, the tshirt look really very unprofessional like if the other girls were just helpers. After two visits I'll be finding a new dentist for my children. The dentist and hygienists were nice, however the insurance and check out ruined the experience for me. The first visit I received a treatment plan for over $400 to fill three cavities for my six year old, and I HAVE insurance. I called my insurance company and they said the dentist's office made an error. Called the office back and was met with indignation and refusal to even acknowledge any error. Called insurance back and had them call the office and suddenly the cost dropped to just under $200. The insurance expert never came out from the back to speak to me, just sent the new plan out with a receptionist. I should also mention that during my visit the hygienist decided not to apply fluoride to my daughter because "she's probably had it recently and insurance won't cover" mind you she never checked. When I spoke to my insurance they told me she absolutely qualified, so I had to call the office and bring her back for the fluoride. Flash forward a month when I arrived to have her cavities filled... Prior to treatment the check out asked me to pay over $400. The FIRST treatment plan without applying my insurance. Then I explained that this was an error that was already resolved once and she got an attitude with me and said she would speak to the insurance "expert"... Great! She came back after 10 minutes with yet another treatment plan that included sealants, which my insurance already told me isn't covered for children because they will lose the teeth. I explained that this wasn't what I agreed to and she got another attitude and disappeared again. Came back ruder than ever with the original adjusted plan and accepted my payment. I'm super disappointed. I had heard great things about this place and the first 2 times I took my son for check ups I was pleased. Then about 2 months ago I made him an appointment because I thought he had a cavity. I couldn't go with him because I was in labor with my second child. It was found that he did have a cavity. However they didn't do anything about it. They said it was small and they wanted to wait and see what happened to it.... am I the only one who knows that cavities don't heal? They'll only get bigger and more painful, why would you put a child through that? So we go back the other day for what I thought would be fixing his cavity... again they said they wanted to continue watching it and they would come up with a "plan" on how to take care of it. I put my foot down and said no it's getting fixed today. I wasn't going to put my child through the possible pain of waiting when it could have just been taken care of. So they decide to do it, bring me the paper work and I see I'm going to have to pay over $200 just for laughing gas!? I knew that that was not correct but they said my insurance won't cover laughing gas. What happened to a shot of novacain? He wasn't getting a root canal he didn't need laughing gas. They tried to get my to pay and I refused and left. I will be taking my son to a REAL dental office now. It's sad that a dentist who didn't even want to fix the problem, just tried to get my money instead of truly caring. Disappointing. read more
