Dr. Ertel is very thorough and listens and responds to my concerns appropriately. He gives me as much information ans I ask for and doesn't dismiss any of my questions or concerns. He was able to give me an accurate diagnosis and recommend measures that provided some relief. My symptoms stabilized for a while but when they began to get worse, he appropriately referred me to a vascular surgeon for consultation. I also really like the fact that he enters information in your EMR during the visit. Seems like it's a great way to avoid errors in your medical record and is also another check that you and the doctor are on the same page re: your diagnosis and treatment. Most surprisingly was the medical assistant who yelled profanities at me while taking my X-Ray. He would scream and overall came off as very pissed off and aggressive. (Manhandled & basically physically moved me) I didn't care for this as my primary objective was to figure out why my lungs were experiencing pain. I do not know what this person would do, and I felt to a certain extent - abused by him. Medical professionals are also supposed to make you feel welcomed and supported through your health issues. However, this was not shown at all through my visit. The woman, who eventually came in to the room didn't seem happy at all. In conclusion, I hated this experience. The people here seem to think that they can behave however they want. There's no point in pursuing a medical career if you can't be fucking respectful. Mind you, I'm not even an adult and this is how they treat people.

Also, I am a physician at in the Cambridge Health Aliance system, and wanted to go outside that system for my care so that I wouldn't encounter colleagues in the course of obtaining my care, so I picked a practice in the Mount Auburn system. I saw him for the first time last week, and was very impressed by him. It took a few months to get a new patient appointment with him, but I don't have significant health problems so that was fine. He was prompt and efficient, but quite thorough in his physical exam and review of systems (the part where they ask you questions about headaches, vision, hearing, shortness of breath, cough, etc etc). In the course of my medical training I have seen many physical exams performed on a basically healthy person that were perfunctory at best, but Dr. Shushan was methodical and complete. He had an easy manner and seemed like a nice guy, so we had a good rapport. He brought up appropriately but did not beat me over the head with what we both knew I could be doing better - diet and exercise. I felt very comfortable entrusting my care to him and if I became ill, I know he'd do a good job and treat me with dignity. My only minor complaint was with a harried nurse who was a bit short with me. After signing in by the door as a first-time patient with the staff who handled the insurance, they sent me to the waiting room, but didn't tell me I needed to check in with the folks there, so I sat down for a minute or two until a nurse came out and berated me in an annoyed voice, "You need to sign in when you get here!" I hadn't realized you needed to sign in at two separate places. She later calmed down a bit and was nicer to me once I complimented her blood-drawing skills.

I also had to wait a couple of months for an appointment as a new patient which was fine as I'm pretty healthy. I was very impressed with the quick process of getting me through the registration/reception area. His nurse was lovely and very good, and when I had my visit with him I didn't feel rushed like I've felt with other doctors in the past. Other practices treat you like cattle (sitting in various waiting rooms). He was quick to get to me once his nurse was done with the testing and did not rush through the exam. He asked me important questions to get to know me and gave me various suggestions on what to do to stay healthy. What a wonderful experience. This is how a doctor should be; knowledgeable, kind, friendly and efficient. He's my doctor from this point on!

Jen is wonderful at facilitating referrals; she even calls them in for us so we don't have to worry. Our children are always top priority at this office. OAK pediatrics is a culturally diverse office; not just the patients, but the staff as well. The diversity, both social-economical and cultural diversity that OAK pediatrics brings to Westford is definitely an asset. It's nice to see such a welcoming and diverse practice in Westford.

Dr. Andrea Resciniti performed elective gallbladder surgery on me in the summer of 2017, about a…read moremonth or two after my husband had died after being hit by a car. I met her in the ER of Emerson where she was just standing there after I suffered a terrible gallbladder attack. Resciniti wanted to do the surgery that night but said she didn't think I could consent because my husband had just died and I agreed. I later stupidly agreed to elective surgery. Resciniti told me I would be fine without my gallbladder and basically did not need it. I stupidly did no research and just believed her. Within two days of surgery, I had to take ambulance back to Emerson after throwing up with terribly explosive diarrhea. The nurse there said with a sick look on her face "It is called Dumping Syndrome." Dumping syndrome can occur after gallbladder removal due to changes in bile flow, leading to rapid digestion and gastrointestinal symptoms. But Resciniti just stood there and said nothing. I developed terrible chronic diarrhea and became very afraid to leave my house or be anywhere for very long because of this uncontrollable sudden diarrhea, which I never suffered before surgery. I came to find out that Sudden Diarrhea is very common after gallbladder removal and has destroyed many people's lives like my life. I developed terrible gas and diarrhea and acid reflux and many eating and digestive problems. I also became very angry and mixed up because I had no idea what the surgery would do to me and was totally devastated by it. This surgery was the biggest mistake of my life. Resciniti never verbally told me that Ursodiol could dissolve the gallstones so that I may be able to keep my gallbladder. She also never alerted me to the terrible health challenges I would face without a gallbladder. Instead, Resciniti verbally told me I would be just fine. But instead it was the worst mistake I ever made in my life and has caused me absolute misery and devastation. I have since come to find out that about 50 percent of people have terrible regret from having their gallbladders removed and consider it the worst mistake of their life. I wish I had at least been verbally told of all the terrible consequences that come from having no gallbladder instead of just verbally told basically I would be just fine and could eat whatever I wanted. I now have horrible complications that were never mentioned by her when she treated me before the surgery. If I had ever known what my life would become without a gallbladder, which she never verbally told me, I would have never let her remove it. I hope she is happy that her surgery, which she said would heal me, destroyed my life. She has continued making her gingerbread houses while I stayed in my house and became a terrible recluse and very severely depressed. I now suffer from diverticulosis and terrible bowel problems. I can't believe Resciniti told me I would be just fine and that I brainlessly believed her and just took her word for it. My life has been and health have been basically destroyed. Thanks so much, Andrea. You turned my life into a total train wreck. Maybe you should actually tell people what happens when you take out their gallbladder instead of saying that they will be just fine because I am certainly not unless you consider horrible illness of the gut and the bowels and reflux and everything under the sun being JUST FINE. Her office team coordinated my care with exceptional efficiency, professionalism and kindness. Twice Dr. Resciniti took the time out of her schedule to advocate for me when I encountered minor obstacles with medical systems (i.e. an external pharmacy). She was available for me at all hours and repeated explanations when I did not fully understand the process. I highly recommend Dr. Resciniti and give her and her staff 5 stars!
