Pedicute is my all time favorite nail salon. They are kind, attentive, and do a great job on a mani pedi! I have never had a manicure last as long as theirs! I've lived in the neighborhood for 20+ years, and never noticed this place! I discovered them on Groupon, and had a lovely experience there. Everyone was very pleasant, the tools were sterilized (I believe), and my nails look great. They provide a nice little extra of wrapping your heals in parafin to soften while they paint your toes -- nice touch. Granted, I don't go for anything fancy -- just polish on my toes and actually no polish on my fingers... just a high shine. I was very satisfied. read more

This place is amazing! They are finally under new management and the new owner really cares about good prices and good quality! While getting my manicure she gave the best hand and back massage! I also purchased the mani/pedi Groupon and FINALLY used it today. I found the staff to be pretty friendly and accomodating, especially considering I was running late for my appointment (thank you CTA!). They weren't pleased about my tardiness and they let me know it both over the phone and when I arrived (in my defense, I did call to apologize and I let them know that I'd be there as quickly as possible.) I offered to make an appointment and come back another time and the response I received was: "Well, you'll be waiting a long time." Apparently they're pretty busy because of the Groupon, which made sense until I looked around and noticed one other customer in the shop. (It was 1:00pm on a work-day, how busy could they be?) They were kind enough to mani/pedi me despite my late-ness and I was very pleased with their services. I don't treat myself to pretty nails very often, but walking out of the shop today with red nails and sparkly toes may make me re-think that. Two manicured thumbs-up! read more

I like this place. The people are always courteous, quick, precise, and consistent with the quality of their work. I always try to snap up the Groupon for the no-chip manicure and regular pedicure, whenever it's on Groupon Now! This place has a wonderful selection of regular nail polish, as well as no-chip colors! I was amazed the first time I came here and saw the selection for no-chip, I was expecting to find those little wheels of color with like maybe 7 colors at most. Not so here! The massage chairs have all been in working order, when I've been, although I can't stand them. The only complaint would be (and it's not even MY complaint, it's my friend who always comes with me) is they're not as thorough with the pumice-ing as they could be. I don't notice it on myself, personally, but my friend finds that she still has quite a bit of rough skin on her soles even though it's been about a week since we've been in (mind you she's not on her feet all that much, for work anyway). Anyway, overall I would recommend this place to someone and will most likely go back in the future! The last two times I've been I've gotten great parking spaces right out front, but I would imagine on the times that I'm not so lucky parking would be a pain the butt! read more

I JUST called to try and make an appointment for Thursday evening for me and 3 of my girlfriends (today is Monday) and was told they could not accommodate 4 people. They told me they could only handle 2...in the whole evening. I tried to offer different times and make sure that she understood what I was asking and she would not budge. I will be asking Groupon to refund my money and will not be visiting this salon. With as many places as there are in this city to get a mani/pedi, they really shouldn't be turning people away. I have had a TERRIBLE experience with Pedicute and will NEVER go there, EVER. I wish I could give this place zero stars. Buyer Beware!!! The customer service is atrocious and insulting. Background: I bought 4 Travelzoo coupons for mani-pedis for myself and 3 friends. They were supposed to expire June 27th. I tried to schedule an appointment over a month before the expiration, but their phone wasn't working. I then went in person to try and make an appointment for four people, but they were booked for the next couple of weeks. I was then going to be out of town until right before it expired and wasn't sure of my schedule, so I gave my friends their groupons and was going to try and schedule mine last minute. I called on June 25th when I got back in town - before the coupon expired - to see if they would be able to squeeze me in before the coupon expired. The guy chastized me for not using the coupon in the six months before it expired and for waiting until the last minute. He said they were booked and they wouldn't honor the coupon unless I came in on a Thursday at 10:00 am. Not possible for a Loop worker like me. Also not a great business model to try and shame your customers!!! But, fair enough, I understood and just figured I lost $25. Then, I found out on July 1st from one of my friends that they extended the coupon expiration date for her. I immediately called to see if they would honor an extension for mine too. The lady on the phone had a tenuous grasp on English like every other person working there, so it was difficult for me to get my point across and to understand her. She seemed to be saying that if I had called before the expiration date and set an appointment, they would honor the Groupon but since I am calling afterwards, they would not honor it. When I told her I did call before the expiration date and was told they would not honor the Groupon past June 27th, she TOLD ME I WAS A LIAR!!! That is what has pissed me off the most. Forgot the fact that this is a dirty salon with no air conditioning in the summer with, I don't think, any televisions. I was at least ok with everything until this last lady was a total a-hole to me. But in the end, I feel like a winner because I never have to deal with these dummies ever again. read more

I'm not sure where these other folks went for their mani/pedi. $20 w/groupon for mani/pedi, leg, shoulder & hand massage. very clean, nice service, not chatty. i don't feel a strong urge to be entertained by folks waiting on me, so that was fine. they didn't complain that i like my nails very short - great service, happy feet, legs & hands. give them a try, make an appointment, confirm it, show up on time and try to be nice to people - all goes a long way. Loved my manicure! I went in last week to get a no-chip and had a VERY detailed manicure with a beautiful color. Unfortunately, I work with children and wash my hands alll the time and my nails chipped a week later- I went in and the woman I spoke with filled in my chipped nail and gave me a new top coat and they look better than ever! Both women who did my nails were great and very thorough I will definitely be going back! read more

I needed a fill on my nails, and have always walked by this place. I decided to give it a try. I like that they use sterile tool and do not use a dremel tool. They place is quiet and cozy with a nice mix of music on. The techs do not speak English very well, which normally is not a problem... but as you read on, trying to communicate what I wanted became difficult. My nails, when I went in, were airbrushed with a white tip and a pink base. She started right away on my nails, without taking off the previous polish (which was airbrushed on). So I figured that after the fill she would take off the polish and re-do the french. However, she did not. When she asked me if i wanted polish, i said i wanted my french manicure re-done. She said the french tips looked fine, even when I pointed out that they were chipped and that the fill did not match the pink left over polish. She then attempted to use a base color to match the previous base with the new part. This, did not work... and now my nails have a noticeable difference in the polish where they were filled in. She even noticed it, but did not fix it, even when I told her that my previous manicure had a pink base that was airbrushed on. Think, clear meets a very light pink. Not only that, its been several hours.. and the polish has yellow spots on it and the filing on the nails is uneven and bumpy. After all of this, I was sitting under the lights to dry the polish, and she sent a gentleman over who proceeded to give me a neck and shoulder massage. This, at first, was very nice. But then he proceeded to put a towel over my head and give me a very rough scalp massage. Mind you, I have curly hair, so after a towel and a rough rub on my head, my curly hair turned very frizzy. Not only that, he was very rough on my arms and went all the way down my back to my waist, which, was quite uncomfortable...physically and interpersonally. After all of this.. I attempted to get my coat and pay. This is where the gentleman then proceeded to help me on with my coat, which was a very nice gesture.. until he then took it upon himself to wrap my scarf around my neck, tie it and then button my coat for me. While, this gesture would normally be very nice, it was awkward, and done while three other customers were staring at the care he took in wrapping me in my scarf and buttoning my coat. I then proceeded to pay.... $30! For a fill that was not done correctly and a half-done polish job. I could not believe it! read more

I've been here a handful of times in the past few years as Pedicute is around the corner from my apartment. The ambience is nothing special, but is clean and had previously had good experiences. The last time I went was in April and I was floored by the lack of customer service. A technician who appeared to be new did my manicure/pedicure. Although he seemed to be trying his best, he appeared to be untrained and wasn't sure what he was doing. He didn't cut my cuticles and when I mentioned this to him kindly, he brought the manager over. Instead of taking care of the situation (that could have been easily resolved in a non-confrontational way), she rolled her eyes and took over. She wouldn't speak to me for the rest of the manicure/pedicure and was incredibly hostile. I was so upset with my experience and was made to feel like I'd done something wrong. I will never go back after being treated so poorly. read more

i am only writing this to spare others harm. my experience occurred prior to Easter, but the trauma has lasted until now. like many, i had a groupon. i had an appointment on a rainy tuesday morning at 11am, they opened at 10. i live in chicago so i understand parking, and i am over 50, so i understand the mani-pedi thing. i parked about a block away, on broadway. put 1.5 hrs worth of quarters in the 'not a meter anymore' thing. i arrived at about 10:58am. 2 workers were giving 2 ladies pedicures. they said there would be a short wait. ok. it happens. i waited. they proceeded to leisurely manicures. at 11:35, lucky me, it was my turn. i told then that now 40 meter minutes had passed. i was told i did not allow enough time, which is way wrong because i used to get this stuff done on a lunch break. 1 hr. 1.25 on the outside. foreign words were exchanged the workers (which brought to mind the seinfeld episode). now, comes the scary bit. the pedi-person, clearly rushed, proceeded. i tried to relax and assume pamper mode, was getting there when the toe nip occurred. ok, that happens too. i didn't even look. she did keep ministering to that area though, and now she was muttering. pedi, once rushed through, done. i showed her my flip-flops, but she put the salon issues on me and hurried me to the mani phase and the slightly more pleasant worker. this one kept looking at the clock while my hands soaked, and then answered the phone. while she was on the phone, i wiggled my toes and one foot was sticky. that was when i looked. my toes were sticking to the small but growing, 'pool' of blood under them. when she returned from the call to start the manicure, i told her. she leaped up, hurried for antiseptic and 'hello kitty' band-aids, speaking all time to her cohort in their language. they franticly tended to my wound. for me, mercifully, it was time to leave. without a manicure and only minor injuries. i was invited back to finish the mani and touch up that toe. but, as you say, Eek! Methinks not. they did seem ok with relieving me of my groupon as i limped away in shock. haven't had a pedi since. very scary! read more

By far the best mani/pedi place I have ever been to! and I go to many different places in the neighborhood just to get a feel of the quality of service. The people there are a family business (I think). Everyone is so sweet, so welcoming and professional. They are all super hard working. My pedicure took more than 45 minutes! And this is every time I go there not just the first time! They take so much care. Because, I obviously won't get my nails painted, they do a complimentary back and shoulder massage for a few minutes...it's the best...The Mom (I think the owner) is super professional. Today she was attending to a rather fussy customer while I was getting my mani and pedi from another very professional attentive associate. As soon as the associate finished my manicure session, she immediately came over to look at my hands. Somehow, she didn't think it was perfect (although I could never tell) and she immediately proceeded to 'perfect' my manicure for an extra 15 minutes! I was totally floored! Such excellent above and beyond service as if you are one of their own family is mid boggling in this day and age! I will never stop going there! I'm giving one star only because I can't give zero. I also tried to use a Groupon and was able to get an appointment for the next day. I feel that the man who took my call could and should have given me some warning about what awaited me. Not being from Lakeview, I was unaware that major construction was happening on Belmont and that Thursday was street cleaning day in the neighborhood all resulting in NO PARKING anywhere in the area. After driving around the area at least 30 minutes before finally parking three blocks away, I was 18 minutes late for my appointment. I was told I would have to reschedule my appointment even though there were only two other customers in the place on a Thursday morning. I realize I was late and that was my fault , even though I feel I should have been warned, but RESCHEDULE??? I walked out, never to return, walked right around the corner into another nail salon - WITHOUT an appointment, mind you- and had one of the best mani-pedis ever! read more
