I've used Castle Dermatology as has my family for years. I've always been happy except for my last experience with the new Doctor Nathan. I had a punch biopsy or a spot cut out from my cheek since I've had a few skin cancers removed from my face already, I was concerned. The stitches were not able to be removed easily and I was left with a hole the size of a big pea and it oozed for weeks. I literally was left to my own devices to try and deal and heal. Many months later I still have a scar from this procedure. Yes, I'm happy the biopsy was benign but the emotional experience was horrendous. We're not talking about my arm or back but my face. Dr. Pedram saved my life. He's an artist with the scalpel. Years later, I can't even see where I had the procedure. I initially wrote the review below a year ago. But I've been thinking about it and it doesn't convey enough of how good Dr. Pedram Ghasri is as a dermatologist. I didn't mention that I saw 4 other dermatologists before Dr. Ghasri and they were not as thorough as he was in his skin test. Dr. Ghasri is extremely professional and caring and makes you feel like you're not just another patient, but a friend. Dr. Pedram Ghasri did a thorough skin check and removed a mole with very little discomfort. The whole process was quick and easy. It was a very enjoyable experience. He had removed moles for family members with no scarring, so he came highly recommended. I look forward to seeing him again for another check up. Thank you Dr. Ghasri! Just be aware, you're paying to visit a sales person instead of a doctor. He's more into sale beauty products or beauty procedures like Botox, Kybella or PRP instead of listening to patients. He apparently has a beauty product line and he tries to sale product from his brand instead prescribe a real medication. read more

Dr. Pedram is a fine doctor. He is a very nice and caring person and incredibly knowledgeable. Most doctors are more aloof, like "I'm the noble, you are the serf" but he is not that way at all. He will never up-sell you on stuff, and instead is more interested in treating the problem. I'm glad his office is in the neighborhood, I always walk there and back home whenever I have an appointment. The office is nice too, kind of has a club med/VIP lounge type environment in a way but not overly ostentatious or gaudy. I always feel like I am in very good hands there. Thanks! read more

Excellent bedside manner!! I visited castle for a wart and was seen by Dr. Pedram Ghasri. Dr. Ghasri answered all my questions( I had a lot). I had so much anxiety coming in. However, his calm demeanor and medical care kept me at ease. One thing that really stood out to me was when I called the doctors office late in the evening because I was concerned with the size of the blister. I left a voice message I was not expecting to hear back till the next morning but to my surprise that evening he reached out to me and reassured me everything was going to be okay. A very nice office....but... My insurance assigned me to see Dr. Pedram Ghasri. He seemed like a nice enough guy, fairly quiet and nerdy. He spent about 90% of my examination with his head in his iPad. I felt very rushed and he was gone in under 4 minutes. One of the main reasons I went was because my back has been itching like crazy. He took a quick glance at it and said he didn't see anything. So I asked him if it could be a reaction to a medication I was taking and he said yes, and to get my primary care physician to change the medication. He then looked at a couple of freckles I have that are irregular and said we should biopsy them and that he'd put in for an approval from my insurance. I showed him a few other areas of concern as he was heading for the door and he said he could take care of all those things. He didn't say when, if my insurance would cover it or if I'd have to pay for it. Then he was gone. I came back after getting the approval for the biopsy and his nurse came in, a very, very young girl who right off the bat handed me an ipad to sign a digital approval form for the biopsy. She zoomed in on that signature box and I told her that I needed to read the form before signing it. She looked at me like I was some kind of alien. She took the ipad back and zoomed the document out so I could read it. The document said that I was agreeing that the doctor had already explained the procedure to me, but he hadn't, so I told her I couldn't sign it until he did. She said, "Oh, he'll come in and tell you, you can go ahead and sign it." I said, "no, I can't, because it's not true." She again said he'd come in and tell me before the procedure. I told her that the document says he's already explained it. What if he comes in and forgets to tell me and something goes wrong, and I've already signed the form stating it was explained? She said, "Oh, I see your point." So she took the ipad back and went about preparing the room for the biopsy. At this point I was very uncomfortable that she was trying to illegally get me to sign a medical document and wondered how many other patients of Castle Dermatology's were coerced into signing documents that they hadn't been given the option to read or hadn't had the procedure explained yet. So I told her I was no longer comfortable staying, and left. On the way out I looked around the lobby and saw there was another law that was being broken that I have reported to the Medical Board of California. I realize most people just sign their lives away without reading stuff. I've had 2 of my immediate family members die from medical errors and now volunteer as a patient safety advocate so I'm ultra aware of these things. I emailed the office and asked for the nurse's name so I could report her to the nursing board for trying to coerce me into signing a document without giving me the option to read it. Dr. Ghasri didn't hesitate giving me her name and basically throwing her under the bus. He took no responsibility for her actions and left all the blame with her. They might be good dermatologists, I'll never know. But clearly they don't know how to make patients feel welcome and attended to, and have a need to rush them in and out so they make them sign documents as quickly as possible to get it out of the way. read more

He was also very helpful in explaining any future procedures that I might need. Then when it came to my questions, he answered each in length to make sure I understood everything that would take place after my initial biopsy. Honestly, I don't know where to begin. This is the kind of doctor that even doctors want to go to. Trust me, I'm a doctor LOL. He has one of the best bedside manners that I've seen years and he is very competent and not only his diagnosis but treatment plan as well. Dr. Pedram Ghasri has the qualities of kindness, attentive listening and empathy while remaining focused and efficient to keep his practice running smoothly. He is also upfront about costs for private pay patients which is extremely helpful in working expenses into the budget. The costs were very reasonable given the quality of care provided. His office staff have efficiently billed Medicare and coinsurance for my partner, Joel, who has that coverage. Dr. Pedram Ghasri has responded thoroughly to all of our questions and provides the answers in a manner that is easy for us to understand. His medical training, experience, skill with a scalpel, and his sensitivity to patient pain tolerance are all impressive. The area of my neck from which he removed an uncomfortable growth has healed well without a scar. Since my partner, Joel, has a history of skin cancers, Dr. Pedram Ghasri is very thorough during the skin checks and necessary removal of growths, and sends specimens for biopsy when he believes that it is medically indicated. Dr. Pedram Ghasri's office staff have all been pleasant and efficient, everyone we have encountered at his office practices Covid 19 precautions, and there is plenty of room for social distancing in the spacious, cheerful waiting room. It was frustrating to have to wait and get them removed so I scheduled an appointment here after a friend referred Castle to me. Excellent would be an understatement. This was the best doctor interaction I've ever experienced. Dr. Ghasri is my hero. I've never felt so seen and heard, and like a doctor was actually listening to me, before. I cannot express how much I appreciate this alone. I was there this morning as a first-time patient. I had called minutes after they opened about a spot on my back that had been bleeding constantly for a couple hours, and has been bothering me for weeks. They booked me for a 10:15am appointment, giving me just enough time to create a makeshift bandage that could contain the bleeding and get myself over to the valley. AMAZING. I was seen on time, and never had to wait more than a few minutes between stages of my quick but life-changing appointment. Everyone I interacted with was kind and respectful. I was in there crying, as it had been an emotional morning, and no one, save for my inner critic, made me feel bad about it. As I mentioned, Dr. Ghasri listened to everything I had to say and confirmed that my suspicion of the spot on my back being a pyogenic granuloma was in fact what it looked like to him. This made me relax as I was no longer panicked about it being cancer, and then he assured me that even if it was cancer, we'd take care of it with ease, as if it was the simplest thing in the world. Bedside manner in spades. Dr. Ghasri talked me through everything that would happen, and the procedure of removing the "glob" from my back was quick and painless. They sent said "glob" for a biopsy just in case, which is good practice, and provided even more peace of mind. I cannot recommend Dr. Ghasri and CDI enough. If you need to see a dermatologist, call them today! There's no need to suffer hoping something will go away on its own, or stay away in fear that an appointment will lead to a medical nightmare. This is the place to go, and now. :) I needed this today. This whole experience made me believe in people again. Plus, when a dermatologist tells you he had to check your age because he didn't think you were really 35, you know you're doing something right! Yay! Thank you for the self-esteem boost after a (literally) draining morning. Also, I paid out of pocket and it was so reasonable, especially compared to other dermatologists I've seen over the years.
