The puffy taco was good, but not what we normally expect with a "puffy" taco - this was really just a great big taco with a lot of sauce covering the outside. But it was good. The disappointment today was the guacamole - a bit watery and topped with pico de gallo that tasted like strong white onions. But that fajitas al pastor I came for..:you need to try that. It tasted like pasta sauce or marinara but I did enjoy the steak quesadillas with a side of rice and refried beans. The service was swift and friendly. Husband and I tried this place out a few days ago. Really cool decor inside, looked like hand-painted murals and stuff. There was a live band outside that we could hear though we sat inside. Waitress was very nice and quick with our drinks and food. Little slow with the check, but we were not in a rush. My chimichanga was good and my husband enjoyed his tacos. Well this restaurant is bad at all. Good bean dip. Great salsa. Ok I got the birria tacos the flavor was good but they was so soggy they was falling apart. Definitely needs to be crisper. I went for dinner while in town for work. Monserrat was my waitress and she was FANTASTIC! She was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. The chips, salsa and bean dip were tasty. I went with my partner for an early Monday dinner and had an incredible experience! We ate on the outdoor patio, which was dog friendly. Oscar provided impeccable service and was very attentive. I asked 2 people why it was so cold and they just laughed. It is difficult to eat when your nose is running and your hands are freezing. Needless to say, our food was cold within a few minutes. For the meal, we got enchiladas rancheras, which was decent. But it doesn't come with refried beans and rice. And that was $17.99. A small queso and one entree ended up being $30. And the portion is was small. I wish we got a picture of it but I didn't think it was going to be more than $20 until the check came. I understand a business needs to make profit. It's been a minute, but time for an update. There were things that I loved, but unfortunately "shrinkflation" has made it here. The colorful chips, salsa and complimentary frijoles were fantastic. The queso was also delicious but extremely pricey. I've had the Pedros quesadillas before and not only is the quantity less (less cheese, less meat, and less guac and sour cream), the quality just wasn't as good. The flavor was fine, but because of the lack of "accoutrements," the quesadillas were quite dry. My son got his "favorite" burrito, which used to be smothered in queso, but now it's served with a tiny cup on the side (not enough to cover the burrito) which again, was quite dry. The flavors were there, but due to the price and quality overall, it will have me thinking twice before going back for a bit. Hopefully this crazy economy settles down soon, but there are too many other great Mexican places in town that are consistently good that I would rather patronize. read more

I ordered the seafood enchiladas. 20 minute wait the server came out and told me they did not have the seafood mix. I've been ordered the shrimp enchiladas. It took another 20 minutes to bring me my food. When it arrived, the shrimp was cold and rubbery, seafood sauce topping fishy tasting. The salsa had absolutely no taste. Mediocre. The veggie fajitas were drowned in oil -- super greasy. The flavor wasn't just so-so. It's not the worst Mexican restaurant in BR, but it's also not very good. I'd rather go elsewhere. We won't be returning. Also, beware if there's anyone in your party with dietary restrictions: this place cannot handle dietary restrictions. If you're plant-based, this is not for you! They have a so-called "vegetarian" menu, but they fail to disclose on the menu that ALL their beans have lard (both refried and charro beans). That means that there's undisclosed pork in all the vegetarian items. You can find that out if you ask very specific questions and send the server back to check, but you know it from reading the "vegetarian" menu that there's pig in your beans. That's a problem for anybody with a pork food allergy, some religious observances, vegans and vegetarians. read more

Stopped for the first time today to try out this restaurant. It's located in the Siegen Marketplace across from HoneyBaked hams and the oreck vacuum repair store, next to Lowe's. It was around 2:15pm so it was not busy at all. There used to be another Mexican restaurant in the same exact location years ago (Zappos?) but that that restaurant never really took off. The food was good at the old restaurant, but they had a bad habit of nickel and diamond customers for everything from extra jalapenos to tortillas. This new restaurant (Pedro's) has really renovated the building beautifully. Much improved interior decorations, comfortable bench seating as well as table and chair seating. The Pedro's owners even expanded the outdoor patio. I ate indoor today, but definitely plan on using the patio another day cuz it looked lovely. Since I arrived before 3:00 p.m., I was able to order from the lunch menu which cuts off then. Chose the two beef taco with rice and refried beans plates, it was absolutely fabulous. The tacos were very meaty and tasty, large serving of creamy refried beans with Mexican cheese on top. The chips that they bring when you first sit down or nice and thin and warm. The salsa is very creamy, could be a little spicier for some people but for me it was fine. They had a large selection of different types of margaritas. I chose a small house margarita to give it a try. It was absolutely delicious, included a strawberry slice, a blueberry and a blackberry. Unusual but very tasty. I hope that this Pedro's tacos and tequila restaurant picks up some good business. The waiter was a tent of quick and on the ball. Food was very hot and I really enjoyed it. This place was awesome. My grandson and I dined here last night, and it was the best in Baton Rouge. The decor is beautiful and very welcoming. My grandson ordered the trio platter. The mixed grill was ONE piece of fajita steak, One piece fajita chicken and One grilled shrimp and the 3 pieces of meat were diced and sprinkled across nachos. The chips were basically dry. Do yourself a favor and go to Superior for the best nachos ever and less expensive than Pedro's. I have no interest in returning to Pedro's . We dine out frequently and are well aware of the mexican food menu , we visited this new mexican restaurant business based on a family member suggestion , it was fathers day evening and we were a group of 8 . the positive : the atmosphere was fine , the prices were in line with other mexican restaurants . the negative : the waitress was unaware of the menu items details, seemed lost , unknowledgable and our questions were unanswered , the staff communication skills in english was poor with unwelcoming face remarks , all of our grilled items and Fajita orders were disappointing , stale , dry , not sizzling , small potions compared to the price paid , all ingredients were heated for sure and never cooked to order . we left quickly and the food was left behind too . they might have won our business dollars this time but there will be no other times , our group members agreed that it is not worth it and that they neither will be back nor will recommend this restaurant . read more

My family and I at tonight at the juban location approximately 5:30-6pm. There was 9 of us,6 adults and 3 minors. We sat in the center of the restaurant. Our server took our order and we didn't see him again until I got and asked for an manager. I flagged him down multiple times and the last time I flagged him down,he looked at me rolled his eyes and kept walking away. He passed by our table several times and ignored us. We had 8 cups that were empty and he wasn't anywhere near. Now he was sure to take care of his other tables. We have at there many times and have had great service.the food was great but the service was horrible. I understand about being under staffed but that wasn't it. The restaurant was not that busy. On 3 tickets there was a $20 tip for him but he wasn't serving us until I got the manager. He ignored me when I tried to talk to him. We are not happy at all with the service. read more
