We've got a ski-in/ski-out condo perched right on the top of the mountain, and after spending countless seasons carving down the runs, warming up by the fireplace, and celebrating New Year's with friends and family here... it's time to set the record straight. THE RESORT Is it older? Sure. But that's part of the charm. This isn't some polished chain-brand ski lodge--it's rustic, real, and still holding strong. The main lodge has all the essentials, with a side of character. Their main restaurant even features furniture repurposed from an old mansion--how's that for cozy-meets-quirky? THE LODGE EXPERIENCE We've stayed at the lodge itself multiple times before we bought the condo, and it's always been perfectly fine. Not flashy, not fussy--just warm beds, friendly vibes, and a hot tub that transitions from indoors to outdoors (bonus points for that!). There's a pool and sauna as well, and in warmer months, the indoor slide is in play. THE MOUNTAIN This is a small-to-mid-size resort that absolutely holds its own: * 26 trails (45% intermediate, 30% beginner, 15% advanced, 10% expert) * 7 triple chairs, 2 surface lifts * 2 terrain parks, often featuring a half pipe and yes--an actual bus you can ride across. * A two-mile-long trail that delivers a scenic cruise down the slope. * Wooded trails for the daredevils and dreamers. * A tubing hill + dedicated beginner's area that's perfect for new skiers and families. THE FOOD & APRÈS You'll want to grab a slice and a smile at the pizza joint at the base of the hill--perfect for thawing out after your last run. There are other dining options around, and the vibe is always relaxed and welcoming. It's the kind of place where people hold the door open and toast their cocoa at the fire pit. OFF-SEASON ADVENTURES Peek'n Peak isn't just a winter wonderland. In the warmer months, the Adventure Park and ropes course take center stage--with zip lines that send you flying down the ski hill. There's also a fun mini golf course where a legendary family phrase was born: "It's the shot of the day!" (Yes, we still say it every summer.) THE GOLF Up top, you'll find one of the most underrated championship-level golf courses in the Northeast. The views alone are worth the trip, but the course layout is also smart, challenging, and just plain fun. There used to be a lower-mountain course, but that's closed now. THE REAL SECRET The townhomes. They dot the top of the mountain like something out of a Hallmark movie. Ours is perched just steps away from the lift. Ski in, ski out, party in, pass out. It's magic. We've celebrated many New Year's Eves here, and waking up to fresh snow and a slope-ready crew never gets old. PRO TIP The resort recently underwent a management change after some tough financial times. But don't let that scare you. The place has soul. It's not corporate, it's not overrun, and it's not trying to be something it's not. It's authentic, and that's what keeps us--and so many others--coming back year after year. If you're looking for Vail glam or Deer Valley luxury, keep driving. But if you want a resort with history, heart, and plenty of places to shred, sled, and sip cider, Peek'n Peak is exactly where you want to be. See you on the slopes. The lobby area has a bunch of gorgeous woodwork and it provides a great greeting upon check-in;however, the folks at the front desk do not. I interacted with two different ladies at the front desk and they were not friendly at all, and one was very annoyed by our simple questions. I feel like someone in that role at a resort, not just some random hotel, should be very welcoming and happy to answer any questions you have. This was just not the case. We began walking back to the room and there was a huge shift in appearance and aroma from the lobby to the halls of the rooms. It smelled like pee in some areas and like mildew in others. There were various stains on the carpets and it all looked quite dirty. I noticed that some rooms had a laminate floor instead of carpet, which is something that really needs done in the whole building. I'm sure they're in a transition between updating parts of the building, so hopefully it will see better days in the next few years to come. The bedroom itself wasn't smelly, so that was a plus. The bed was very hard & old, and the pillows were old too and very uncomfortable. There were some old dried up contacts left around. After I showered, I wiped the floor with a towel in the bathroom and the towel was very yellow. So I'm assuming that was from pee on the floor? Hotels are pretty much always gross, but I guess I had higher expectations because it's a resort and not a cheap one either... Anyways, I am grateful to have had a place to stay with all of my family, especially one SO close to the wedding venue (5 mins from the resort). It was easy to ignore a lot of these things with something so pleasant going on at the time. I just don't think I'd personally come back again on my own doing, or at least not until the resort sees an abundance of updates. They offer mini golf, ziplining, a pool area, a spa, paintball, gemstone mining, and a few other things. I did not get to try any of those due to time restrictions, but it made me happy to see that they have a solid variety of activities for the summertime! They also have a stage where they do live music at night, which is always awesome to see. Again, lots of potential here, it's just a matter of fixing things up a bit!

For all we knew, it felt like we had traveled hundreds of miles to a vacation destination tucked away on our own exclusive resort! Their team was great and access to the room was totally contactless. They are pet-friendly and have a # of different style cabins with varying degrees of luxury & with our cabin rental, we received free kayak/canoe rentals and also received a discount to rent a pontoon boat, which we did and would do again! P.S. you do NOT need a license to drive the boat and all life jackets (except infant) are provided! You can bring food and alc/non-alc beverages on board for everyone to enjoy, except the driver, who can still enjoy a nice mocktail. The cabins were squeaky clean and have everything you need and more, most importantly: wi-fi, TV(s), heat, and A/C! Some cabins have their own deck, picnic table, and grill, but there are MULTIPLE community fire-pits and grills scattered elsewhere throughout. Even though we did not stay in a cabin right on the water, the second row was elevated high enough to still have a lake view! BIG BONUS POINTS if you have kids, as they have a HUGE lake-side sandbox like I've never seen before and an awesome playground! Hungry? Thirsty? No problem - take a few steps and you're at the connected Sunset Grill restaurant, which has a gorgeous view and observatory, live music on some nights, and my most-favorite feature, little dining cubbies for larger groups with your OWN, personal, controllable heat lamp and fan - absolutely brilliant. I read other reviews where they complained of the closeness of the cabins, and yes, they are very close together, but look at the map of the property layout and you'll see Cabin #21 & 22 are at the far end, offering the most privacy (these are the ones we always request.) You can see from the map if your cabin is waterfront or not, and how close the next cabin is. They did their best to insert privacy walls and landscaping trees to help with that issue. But if you are coming with a large group and want all your cabins together, the closeness is a plus, not a negative. The cabins are great! They provide towels and bedding for the main bed and bunks, but I'd recommend bringing extra blankets and your own pillows. The kitchen utensils were lacking in our cabin; we did not have a toaster, so I "toasted" the bread in a frying pan. We also didn't have a pizza cutter (I just used the butcher knife) and the bowl to mix avocados was massive with a flat bottom..LOL. I made it all work, but had I been staying longer, I probably would have asked if they had these items or went to the dollar store and bought stuff. (Or brought it from home had I realized.) SO, if you plan on cooking/preparing anything specific, maybe pack necessary kitchen items so you can accomplish your task. Also, bring your own plastic cups for kiddos, or for yourself, a plastic/insulated beverage container for walking around or boating. They only have glass (and very fragile wine glasses!) The property is lovely with concrete walking paths everywhere, 3 extra restrooms on the property, and Sunset Grille (great food and live music on the weekends). There is a kid's playground area, small sandy area, sitting spaces, fire pits, grills and picnic tables dotted all over the property. They offer non-motorized boats to all guests and we definitely take advantage of that! The kayaking is so fun! The lake is very nice once you get further from the front of the resort where it's more lillypads, algae blooms and "seaweed"... it's natural though, nothing to be grossed out about. Also, it is right off a main road, but if you pay attention to what's in front of you, not what's behind you.... you'll be happy :)

One thing that bothered us, and it is absolutely not the owners fault, is that people drive in off the street and sit in the chairs watching the sunset. We pulled in around 9 o'clock and there were 20 people there, after the sun went down at least 10 got into vehicles and drove away. I'm sure that we will be back to spend another weekend here

First, I noticed massive sections of roofing were missing, leaving plywood sheeting exposed to the elements. The gutters were gone, and the fake palm outside was missing a bunch of fronds. Inside, the place is in massive need of a deep clean/power wash and coat of paint. For example, the walls of the wave pool are stained and discolored. More concerning is the leaking under the seams of the slides- creating rusty spots, staining on the pipes, water damage to the ceiling, and deterioration of the decking material that is visible when you reach the top platform for the waterslides. Plus, the showers had black mold in the women's side. It's also expensive: $221 for 2 adults and two kids over 48" on a Sunday. The large locker rental was $22. Two churrus and 1 chicken tender serving were $21. Our kids had a blast and we bonded as a family, which made it all worth it. The lifeguards were plentiful and attentive. Regardless, I don't think we will return. If Splash Lagoon can't get the obvious maintenance issues right, what are they missing? The overall physical structure seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

So we flew from LAX to Buffalo, NY, which allowed us to visit Niagara Falls (stunning) and then take a quick drive south to Bradford, PA (home of Zippo lighters). The first thing one notices when entering this part of Pennsylvania is how well-kept the homes and farms are. And when you turn onto the access road to the Glendorn Lodge, you see their farm-to-table patch of a vegetable farm. Once through the gate, the drive is a couple of miles to the main lodge and check-in. The staff are so wonderful and polite, calling us by our last names, which is very formal but a nice touch! Our home, cabin, was lovely beyond description. The master bedroom was stunning, the screened-in porch was perfect for 10 to 12 people hanging out (ideal for a family reunion), and we had an outdoor fireplace/pit blazing and roasting marshmallows for the kids. The next morning, we rode bicycles that you keep at your cabin home. We went out on a small lake with paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, etc. We also played volleyball and had lunch catered and delivered to the lake - fantastic service. The next day we played tennis, swam, basketball and even shot skeet! As our time at Glendorn came to a close, we reflected on the unparalleled service and the deep sense of relaxation we experienced throughout our stay. The staff truly went above and beyond, ensuring every detail was perfect, and their personalized approach made us feel like cherished guests rather than just visitors. To cap off our trip, we took a leisurely drive back toward Buffalo, savoring the memories of Niagara Falls and our time at the resort. We left Glendorn with our spirits lifted, ready to cherish the beauty of nature and the luxury of wonderful hospitality.
