Peerspace became the platform for underaged teens & abusive guests, aiming to book homes for partying & illegal activities. 90% of reservation requests though Peerspace are from YouTubers, TicTockers. A massive headache for law abiding hosts. I was listing my properties on Peerspace for almost 3 years. Have welcomed over 60 photo & film & soft event projects via Peerspace. Rated all 5 star by previous guests. Earned POWER HOST Status. On November 2019, the LA City began enforcement of the Home Sharing Ordinance. Hosts & Hosting Platforms are expected to be in compliance with the ordinance. Meanwhile, Peerspace does not comply with the City Ordinance, or care the intension of dishonest guests. They also frame everything as if it is in the best interest of the guest when really it is the way they want to make more money, when hosts combat excessive noise; unauthorized guests, parking, & smoking & guests who leave piles of trash. By default, platform policies are designed to force hosts to open their homes to underaged party groups. Peerspace also forces hosts to enable instant booking & self check in options (so they can generate more income); creating a situation in which offering hospitality is more of a precarious lottery open to abuse. With this way, hosts have zero control over whom they host. In this age of internet fraud & fake identities, it is absolutely crucial that hosts can decide who they let into their homes. Although, Peerspace allows guests to book homes without providing their ID. Actually, guests don't even have to provide their actual names. The person you interact with online should be the person who shows up at your door in real life but Peerspace gives guests a free blank card to play with & leaves hosts vulnerable to scams. Peerspace must understand that we (hosts) are protecting our properties from those few people that are horrible guests & pose a threat to our assets. Last week, Matthew Murray, Peerspace Operations Manager 'directly' contacted me via e-mail (outside the platform), asked me: 'why I declined a booking request'. (my reason was clearly stated on Peerspace). I couldn't accept the guest's request without a signed contract (not only to comply with local laws, also to ensure the safety of myself and my property); he said "Having the guest sign a 3rd party contract is a violation of our terms of service". The reservation was for 2 days, meaning; the guest's intention was to party & stay overnight. 90% of the Peerspace guests inquire to book my home to party. No matter how much money they offer, I always decline them. I believed this was a similar request. So, I declined the request & told guest that in order for me to reconsider his request; he must read my house rules & provide all the information that I require. I also told him that before accepting his request via Peerspace, he must sign my rental contract, so I can make sure he understands & complies with the local regulations. Peerspace's fine print says that it is the host's responsibility to comply with any local law. He is the Peerspace's Operations Manager but had no idea about the local regulations. Overnight stays shouldn't be allowed on Peerspace, as the platform doesn't collect 14% occupancy tax, which is required by State of California. Seems like Peerspace is operating like Airbnb & Vrbo but somehow avoiding occupancy tax collection. Also, having the guest signing a contract is the last line of a host's defense as dishonest guests avoid signing such legal docs. Also, a rental contract allows hosts to protect their property against physical damages as well as economic damages. Peerspace doesn't offer such protection. When I told Matthew Murray: "as seen on my house rules, not having the guest signing the rental contract is not an option, as it would be a violation of local regulations". He told me to e-mail my ID, and all my property deeds. Yes, this actually happened! He told me to share my ID and property deeds online, via e-mail! In what universe would I trust Peerspace with my privacy if they can't even provide a phone number on their website in which to contact them? Not to mention that I have been a Powerhost for many years & have never had one complaint in regards to the authenticity of my listing. His approach was unprofessional, his language was offensive. So, I told him; I cannot share such vital documents online, as it would be an invitation to identity theft. He immediately terminated my account & took down all my listings. He was upset that Peerspace lost its commission, just because I refused to disregard the law. What Peerspace might not realize is this battle isn't just in our backyard, rather it is a national problem with lawsuits, city regulations and a headache that lots of hosts are tackling. April 4, 2026 - Based on using Peerspace to book my baby shower venue in Charlotte, NC The venue was disgusting and we had to clean before we could even start! Ultimately I cried a few times and powered through, but the fact that you could allow a venue so nasty to even be featured here is mind blowing. Review: I had a very disappointing experience hosting a baby shower at Milano's Pizza. Upon arriving to set up, it was immediately clear the venue had not been properly cleaned or maintained. There were dead bugs, roaches, and flies throughout the space, along with spiders in nearly every corner. We even had to clean dead flies and bugs out of the windowsills ourselves before we could safely set up food. The ceiling had visible moldy, wet stains, and almost every surface felt sticky--from the kitchen door to even the broom we had to use. We ended up sweeping and cleaning the floor ourselves because it was still covered in confetti from a previous event. The mirrors and doors were extremely dirty, and we had to clean the mirrors ourselves while decorating. The trash cans were also in terrible condition--sticky to the touch and already full upon arrival, including the bathroom trash, which had banana peels and other waste left inside. On top of that, there were dirty black footprints on the walls--full outlines of someone's feet and toes--in multiple spots, which was shocking and completely unacceptable for an event space. The bathroom conditions were unacceptable. One stall had feces stains left in the toilet, and another had water flooding the floor. To make matters worse, there were old flip-flops left outside the men's bathroom door, which added to the overall unclean and neglected appearance. The venue itself is also in poor condition--chipped paint, damaged molding along the floors, and an overall lack of upkeep. I spent valuable time cleaning instead of preparing for the event. To make matters worse, around 2 p.m., someone arrived and there was a woman in the kitchen banging pots and pans and cooking, even though we had the venue reserved until 3 p.m. It was disruptive and unprofessional. Overall, this was not a suitable environment for hosting a special occasion. I would not use this venue again and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, well-maintained place to hold an event. read more

Why must we suffer terrible Silicon Valley booking sites such as these?! I tried to do a simple, low cost studio booking. Some busybody at Peerspace with the title of "Trust and Safety Specialist" rejected a credit card that I have used for over 20 years. Then the "Trust and Safety Specialist" emailed me and said that I needed to send: - A photo of your valid government ID showing all four corners. - A photo of payment method ending in # 1092 showing ONLY the last 4 digits and name on the card. - A selfie of you holding the government ID and your payment method. WTF?!!! I am a prospective customer, and my credit card is rock solid! I even checked with my bank and there were no issues (although there was a 10-cent Peerspace "test" charge. I book travel and hotels all over the world for thousands of dollars, and some smarmy little security twit wants me to jump through hoops and suffer indignities and endanger MY security and privacy! PEERSPACE, GO F^(K YOURSELF!!! By the way, I found the direct website of the studio that I tried to book through Peersapce and the direct booking was 30% less with no Peerspace fee!!! This company is the worst, their UI is horrific, for example, if I want to list my space Monday-Friday 9-6 I can't, I would actually have to block out EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND by hand. I have been trying to do this, but since nobody knows what time my space is available, everyone asks for times it's not available, resulting in just a huge frustrating waste of time for everyone including me. Peerspace actually wrote me a bunch of nasty emails claiming that I'M NOT ACCEPTING ENOUGH INQUIRIES and has been threatening to pull my listing IF I DON'T ACCEPT MORE. I was looking for space to rent for a music video shoot and was talking to some video directors who suggested Peerspace. I had never heard of Peerspace, but I checked out the website and found so many amazing spaces. I loved the space I booked. The host, Annette, was so quick to respond to my booking request. The whole process was very transparent. When I arrived, I met with the host. She gave me a tour. I was able to start on time. Everything was so clean and Covid safe. I was given a tour of the space and started on time. I will definitely book spaces with Peerspace again. This is the simplest and easiest way to find a perfect studio for events and/or production (like filming or photoshoot). read more

I found out about Peerspace because I tried to book an airbnb for a photoshoot, but told the host I wouldn't be staying there and only needed it for a few hours. The host then told me to look at bookings on Peerspace and I am SO glad she did!! It was so easy and so much better than paying 3-4x as much as I would have for an airbnb that I would've have stayed in. We picked a beautiful home with gorgeous natural lighting (shoutout to @HillCountryHomeAtx!) and had a great experience. The host was super friendly and responsive and had everything we needed in the home! I would highly recommend using Peerspace and will definitely be using again in the future! read more

BEWARE the non-refundable "processing fee" of 5%! Peerspace goes out of its way to make sure you're not aware of this unless you want to dig deep into their terms. They could be much more out front about this, but then they'd lose your 5%!! I'm not sure about whether competitors do this too...Anyone have experience elsewhere? here's the text from their terms: "Processing Fee" means the charge which Peerspace charges to a Guest for processing the Transaction Amount, currently set at 5% of the License Charge. Fantastic concept - the Airbnb for creative productions. There was a gaggle of worthy contenders, but we chose the right spot - spacious, brimming with atmosphere and convenient for the cast and crew. Was also happy to have a host that was very accommodating (and it was worth paying for the extra time we eventually need to wrap up the shoot). I'll definitely be using Peerspace again, and in the meantime it's just fun to look through to see what kind of spaces are available. You never know how/when/where inspiration will strike! read more

We held our event utilizing Peerspace to find the location last week and absolutely loved it! We fell in love with it! The location was a hidden gem and was worth every penny ( Although I assure you it was very reasonably priced). It was clean and modern with fabulous lighting and a lot of nooks and crannies for photo ops! Our guests keep raving about the event space and our food options. It's important to me to be able to see ratings by others when I book a space for a video shoot or live workshop. Peerspace is like Airbnb for meeting spaces. It's my go-to service when I need a great space because a) I can see photos and details of the spaces, b) the hosts are accountable because of the transparency provided via customer reviews c) it's simple to use, and d) it tends to be a very good value for money. Just used Peerspace to host our first employee off site and it was a fantastic experience. Lots of choices and locations, amenities and add-ons clearly displayed, full transparency on prices. Our event was in a home with fantastic interior and exterior space, beautifully and functionally decorated. Our host greeted us, gave us a brief tour, had our AV equipment already set up. I was a longtime host on peerspace. Their commission is incredibly high. They offer zero customer support. They monitor all of your communications via the in app messaging. They operate on a guilty until proven innocent mantra. They constantly dangle your business profile in front of you. Their bug-ridden, un-user friendly app experience will loose you business and there is not help to be found. Only enormous commissions. read more

Peerspace is an excellent way to find studio space in Los Angeles. The variety of studios and associated booking charges are made for all budgets. All the studio hosts I've dealt with have been super accommodating! The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 are the fees added to each booking. These fees seem excessive when only 2 or 3 people occupy the space and fully clean up after the shoot. read more
