LOCATION REVIEW: As a recent college grad coming back to the Bay Area, its been hard to find a nice place to study without the convenience of a college library or decent study spots. Peet's Coffee in Alameda has been the spot that I and my friends frequent the most to get stuff done! With huge windows surrounding the entire store, it provides a lot of natural lighting and a comfortable feeling when you stay there that helps with productivity. There's plenty of tables and chairs with a good amount of wall outlets, so perfect for studying, and a parking lot conveniently located in the back so you don't have to worry finding a spot to park. It also closes at 8 PM so that's plenty of time to cram any study sessions before it gets too dark!! read more

Not a single Whopper on the menu! And the counter help looked at me like I was crazy when I ordered a large French fry. Good coffee though.

My favorite peets ! huge parking lot in the back which means no need to pay for meter or need to drive around in circles for parking. Staffs are really friendly they always greet you with a smile and their drinks are delicioussss!! Why ? Why would any well managed business allow their counter person to chew gum in the face of their customers? I just had the displeasure of watching Jennifer chewing her cud like a cow while spending my money. Mouth open and a view normally left for a dentist. I really love this place. Yes, they have a drive thru and that is helpful; however, the line is sometimes so long it is faster to go inside. The coffee is always terrific and made to perfection. I love coffee and I have to say the staff here are the most genuinely friendly, non-robotic and truly care about making sure I enjoy my perfect cup of java. At this location, you are guaranteed to get a watered-down/cold specialty drink every time. Worst lattes and chais i have ever tasted. Its like they make the drink the wrong size every time then try to make up for it by adding water at the end. You could take your first sip as you drive off and your drink will still be cold! I don't know how they do it every time. Also you can never ever taste the espresso in their lattes or cappuccinos for some reason. The plain coffee is ok if you add your own cream/sugar. Everything else is always really bad. They need to train their baristas to be consistent in how they make the drinks. Sooo bad. read more

I was so happy to have Peets drive thru on the West end. It gets packed so get there early and service can be slow and the drinks are often NOT FILLED to the top, which I feel should be and especially if I waited 15 minutes for it and paid for it. I'll still continue to go- hopefully morning staff improves. read more

The patio and indoor area is really spacious. Outdoor patio has outlets, which is a bonus. This review is for the drive-thru. If you are in a rush in the morning, I don't recommend the drive-thru. It's always really slow!! There will be 5 cars ahead of you and you'll be waiting between 15-20 minutes. Better off parking and ordering insude. read more

Came in this morning to grab a coffee. Since the drive through was backed up I went inside instead. Stood there for a couple minutes, no help so I wrote it off as they were super busy. The cashier girl looked right behind me and told the woman behind me she would serve her even though I was clearly standing in front of her for what seemed like five minutes. The woman even stated that she saw someone in front of her, and it was weird that she was being served. I turned around and walked out. I'll be going to Starbucks from now on. read more

I tried the drive through this morning for the first time. There were a few cars ahead of me. When it was my turn I started to place my order. The woman taking the order was distracted with helping her coworkers, not listening to me at all. I tried to place the order 3 times. Finally she said "I'm having problems with my headset, drive through and I will take your order from the window". I was the only person left in line. I proceeded to drive up to the window. I placed my order. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a couple of cars. The lady at the window proceeded to take the orders with no problem with her headset. I ordered 2 mochas, 2 croissants and a pound of coffee. She handed me the coffees then the bag of coffee and 1 croissant. I waited for the second croissant. She looked at me as if I was doing something wrong. I then told her that I was missing part of my order. The response that I was given was "they didn't give you the croissant?" Errrr not a good way to start the day! I was never given a receipt as I paid with a credit card, bag or napkins. Peets you really need to train your staff. I will continue to patronize the store on Park st Hopefully you can get it together. What a disappointment. It's not the right way to start the day. read more

I am so happy to have a Peet's near my school and my side of Alameda. They are spacious with nice windows and a drive thru. I don't miss the Burger King at all! It's been completely remodeled, including the bathroom. They kept the bathroom cleaner when they first opened. Also, service is very inconsistent. Sometimes the batistas are in a friendly mood and get orders done quickly. Other times they seem less friendly and have a "whatever" attitude about being low or out of pastries. Personally, if I know I want a pastry on my visit, I'll just go across the street to the Starbucks, because they seem to keep a consistent stock. read more

Please don't ignore the first customer in line because the customer behind them shouts out an order. It's rude, it's unprofessional, it's inappropriate, and of course it's frustrating. At least look the customer in the eye and acknowledge their presence before you ring up the obnoxious person behind them. There's always room for improvement in Drive Thru. I backed out and saw a lot of cars when I saw the long line all the way at the entrance of the parking lot. I saw the staff at the drive thru so busy getting the order and few customers inside the store and the rest of the staff inside are just chatting -- i wish they help this poor guy at the drive thru to get the orders done and keep on going... It's my first time here at this brand spankin' new location. I'm pretty sure my cashier was the manager, a middle-aged gentleman who was very friendly and welcoming, and explained the coffee varieties that are on tap today. A little "salesman-ish" but that's OK. He's proud that this Peet's is the first one in CA with a drive-thru window. I asked for a little room for cream in my large coffee, he gave me the perfect amount and invited me to return for a top off if needed, after adding my cream (I didn't need to). Nice contrast from the Park St. location, where they either don't ask at all, or underfill, or both... This guy did try to sell me a breakfast item after I ordered my large coffee - "upselling" is a pet peeve of mine. Although the flavor was good, the coffee I got seemed less strong and more watered down from what I'm used to from Peet's - no bueno. The difference in strength was noticeable. I hope they fix that. The inside is super spacious and very clean with great natural light, as another reviewer mentioned, and there is an outside patio with lots of tables. Very nice. read more

Big shout out to Bob, the manager here. Learned I was out of coffee at home and ended up driving here to go get a cup and a cheese/cracker/fruit box. I have a painful eye infection and on antibiotics and wasn't feeling great. There was a huge line in drive thru and I realized when it was my turn, that I forgot my debit card and only had $5. This was not enough to cover my purchase and I had to change my order to a coffee and scone. The cashier comes back, hands me coffee, scone, AND the cheese/cracker/fruit box! She said that Bob bought it for me. Hey, Bob? I was having a rough morning and you made things 100% better. I called Corporate to tell them what you did, too. So thank you!!! read more

I'm not surprised by any of these negative reviews. The staff at this Peet's definitely need some training, especially customer service training. To bad because I love Peet's, but I'd rather spend my money at the Starbucks down the street, and just treat myself to any other Peet's, if I come across one. read more

This Peet's is a nice addition to the west end. Inside has a spacious layout and I've had pleasant experiences with the staff. However, this location is horribly understaffed. The drive-thru today was several cars deep, the lobby line had 4-5 people, and there were only two people running the whole show. Their focus was mostly on the drive-thru because, yes, those times are tracked and can make or break overall monthly figures. This leaves those in the lobby waiting quite a while for service. The parking here can also be problematic due to size, being shared with an apartment complex, and a backed up drive-thru. But really, Peet's, get some more help. Those guys today were running like chickens without heads through no fault of their own. This will eventually start to eat into your profits as people decide to go elsewhere. read more

This Peet's drive through is a welcome addition to our beautiful island. The employees and location are wonderful. My only complaint is the ineffective ordering process through the drive through aspect of the store. The employees cannot hear the customer ordering through the speaker, which requires you to drive to the window. This apparently has been an issue for sometime now. Also, the menu is three feet in front of the speaker, which is completely useless if you don't know what you want. Management needs to get on the ball with these two vital aspects of operating a drive through coffee shop. Otherwise, love having Peet's on this side of the island. read more

I was impressed by how open and spacious this Peet's is. It has plenty of parking in the back, and a drive-through. The baristas were friendly. In terms of the coffee, it's about the same as any other Peet's. I was just very impressed by the inviting atmosphere of the interior of the coffeeshop. It's very clean, with lots of light coming in through the windows, and there are a lot of places to sit. This would be a great place to study or have coffee with a friend. They also have a lot of outdoor seating too, next to a nice garden with drought-friendly plants. I will definitely stop by here again if I need to hang out in Alameda for a few hours for some reason. It's very conveniently located too, close to the tunnel between Alameda and Oakland and near College of Alameda. read more
