    Vietnamese ice coffee

Stop by here for authentic Vietnamese ice coffee after breakfast next door. This is hands down the best Vietnamese coffee in Oakland. Unlike other places that serve cups 2/3 full with mostly ice, they actually fill your coffee to the rim.

My husband and I enjoying trying out different Viet coffee's and this place has hands down one of the best viet coffee in the area. They don't Make it too sweet with the condensed milk and the coffee is strong. The coffee flavor is still strong even after the ice melts a little. The only thing I would say about this place is that its CASH ONLY. Which not everyone carries cash now a days that's why I gave it a 4 star but overall such amazing coffee.

Let me start with saying that I am a fan of this place. The homies and I stopped by on a wolfing down a couple banh mi sandwiches at Ba Le. I suppose we needed to a coffee pick me up afterwards but really, we were curious to see how old Asian guys kick it on International Blvd in the middle of the day and wanted to experience this firsthand. Sorta depressing in someways but I will spare you my sociological rant... We all ordered their $3 Vietnamese iced coffee which was strong. I felt like Mario picking up a super star. This is a great place to grab and go for a quick caffeine boost during the day without going to, say Starbucks or Peets. If you so choose and have the time, hang out, stay a while, and play a couple rounds of Keno or take your chances with some scratchers. All the cool kids are doing it.

Never want to go here again especially the owner treat the customer like shit. The wife is nice and kind but the husband don't know how to talk, he said he doesn't need no customer at all, he open out his business but he doesn't need customers then who else does he sale. the owner had no educated, well I guess my last day there never in my life to go back there again. I paid $5 for my orange juice and also bought lottery there.I saw a lot of time happening to other peoples but today it happened to me. Life still going on but for sure that Da Huong coffee shop will not last long.

Very cool shop. Vietnamese coffee shop selling lotteries. A local hangout. People hang out all days playing scratchers and gameboards. Always feel welcome here. Lol.

Lottery tickets and scratchers in all forms....with a side of delish hot Vietnamese coffee.

I love how random this place is. Lots of local Vietnamese folks hanging out, watching tv, chatting it up.....and they sell lottery tickets?! Lol. The woman at the counter was cheerful and full of smiles. I've had Vietnamese coffee in Vietnam and it's pretty delish here!! FYI: the price for the coffee went up to $4, but it's worth it!

The sandwiches also sounded unique, so we ended up getting the Willow and Kimchi Chicken. The staff was very helpful and patient with helping us pick. I wasn't sure about the Kimchi, but it was well-balanced with a light kimchi spread. I appreciate the Asian inspired flavors and love supporting a local business. The bread is always fresh and it's a hefty portion ( I always split my sandwich into two). It's generally a quick to go order spot but you might have to wait just a little bit ( under 10 minutes). They're only open Friday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., so I finally made the trip out on a Friday and arrived around 9:30 a.m. It was already fairly busy, and it only got more packed while I waited for my order so I would strongly recommend getting there before 9 a.m. or phoning your order in ahead of time. I ordered 4 sandwiches total, and it took somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes for everything to be ready, but both the #2 Special Combo Ham and the #13 Meatball and Egg were absolutely fantastic and well worth the wait. The #2 is how I benchmark a good banh mi, and this place really delivered. The pate was out of this world, the sandwich was piled high with delicious cold cuts, loaded with perfectly pickled veggies and jalapeños, and stuffed into a roll that had the perfect balance of a crisp exterior and pillowy interior. The #13 seemed to be a popular choice as well and for good reason. It had all the same great attributes as the #2, but with the pate and cold cuts replaced by a sweet and savory crumbled meatball paired with a perfectly soft boiled egg. It was every bit as satisfying and delicious and had such a different flavor profile to the #2, which I really appreciated. It is not in the best neighborhood and the hours are painfully tight, especially if you want to avoid a long wait, but the end product is absolutely worth it, in my opinion. And at $6 to $7 per sandwich, the value is still a good value, even if it is a far cry from the $4-6 range that it seemed to hover in for a long time.

I've had their Spicy Hog, steak with mushroom, a few Cubans, but the one that I always come back to is "The Balls" sandwich. First off, this sandwich is massive, so be sure that you come here on an empty stomach. These beef meatballs are seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. The balls are covered in their red sauce with provolone and Grana Padano, which gives it that nutty and salty flavor that pairs extremely well with the meatballs and baguette. All the juices and cheese just get soaked up to perfection. The baguette bread they use is supplied by La Farine, which is just a few meters away from each other. Just putting out there that La Farine is hands down one of the best bakeries in Oakland, so it makes sense that this sandwich would be so dang good. I'll be honest that I'm not a big fan of the chips or those chips in general and could be fine with just the sandwich. If you are going to have any sandwich to eat here first, I would highly recommend you try "The Balls" because I promise you will not be disappointed. I will always say that the dozen or so times I've been here, the staff are always so friendly, and the atmosphere is very down to earth. The price of their sandwiches is in the $20 range, but the quality and portion make it totally worth it.

Don't come in solo expecting a side table.

Amazing Service and the best Pastrami Sandwich I've ever had. Will definitely be coming back soon!!!read more

Want a free sandwich?…read more Complete this puzzle and it's all yours! The pastrami sandwich here is sooooo good I actually ordered two of them. This is the first place in the world that had me eating rye. I hate rye bread, and was worried because there are no substitutions, but the sandwiches here were so good and the bread didn't taste like the traditional prison food hard rye bread. You changed me Krispy Joe's, and had me eating stuff I never would have. Also, drinking stuff I never would have. I bought their chai and lemonade, both were 5 stars, and they offered me their pickle juice electrolyte drink to try. I was skeptical at first, but again they made me a believer. I hate pickle juice and pickle flavored anything in general. Yet, they converted me once again when they offered me a sample of their pickle-aid. It tasted like a mild tasting plain Gatorade. If I were still training for a marathon, I would totally buy this! Back to their amazing sandwiches. They are made with such care, dusting every sandwich that's made to order with their secret spices while toasting the meat and bread. The slaw was fresh and herbaceous. Again, made with care and craftsmanship. I am rooting for this business to expand and take over Ike's Sandwiches. I believe in you Krispy Joe's, you have my vote!

I had to tap out 2/3 way through the first half of the sandwich because I could not eat anymore. Usually when you go to places that are known for their portion size, the food ends up being mid. Little Luca though backed it up with quality ingredients. As for the 1/2 half of my sandwich, I once again could not finish it all as I was chowing down while driving through Gilroy. On a random weekday afternoon around 3pm, I decided to walk here and holy cow it was packed! The place is very small so you kinda have to snake around in a tiny line. I ordered a tuna avocado sandwich, an ultimate, a pastrami, and a turkey. The tuna avocado was amazing! So juicy and they gave two huge spoonfuls. The turkey was so thick and juicy. I can see why this is rated #1. The ultimate was amazing as well. The pastrami I did not like. It tasted like regular roast beef. Each sandwich is ginormous, easy the size of your forearm but thicker (I have skinny arms, so maybe my arm x2)? One sandwich is enough for 3-4 meals for me, that's how big they are. This place is truly charming and I hope it continues to thrive for a very long time to come.
