Excellent coffee, decent eatables (though on my low carb diet, I can do without the snacks). Ambiance is a little ... odd; the furniture seems rather industrial. Maybe a hipster thing? Unlike some of the Starbucks around here, the wifi actually works well without dropping out after five minutes. The only downside (and it's a big one) is parking - there's only a handful of spaces, and nowhere else near to park. The person who served me said they're looking into arrangements with other nearby businesses. Because of the parking, I've only managed to visit once; would be there often on the weekend if there were more parking spots. read more

This is a chain but it is not Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. So it is worth a star for that. They have a good size crew working and they are extra friendly. The place looks great although parking is limited. Peet's has been my favorite coffee place for 3 years. But, in the past 6 months, I've noticed their baristas have gotten significantly worse at making drinks. They're always nice, but it tastes like there's no coffee in the drinks anymore. I liked Peet's because you actually got coffee with the milk/cream/sugar/flavoring/etc. Lately, when I get a latte or black tie, it's mostly milk with a splash of coffee. Peet's is by far one of my favorite chain coffee shops. Their customer service is always great and the people working at Peet's always seem much more cheerful than the ones at Starbucks/Dunkin. In addition their coffee just tastes so much better, it obviously isn't as good as my favorite (Ipsento) but it's pretty darn good. There's no bitterness like you taste in Sbux's roasts and their baristas know what they're doing, you even get coffee art in your lattes! read more

I had been working on a project with some friends and one of them asked what kind of coffee we would all like that morning. Since everyone typically gets a vanilla latte, I asked for nonfat, to make it simple for her. I don't really like vanilla lattes. Or so I thought. What she brought was a creamy, smooth, sweet - but not too sweet, piece of coffee heaven. I had Peet's before, years ago, but it was before the designer coffee craze. Fast forward a couple months later, I drove out of my way, over to Peet's for another vanilla latte. I went through the drive through and, having the kind of couple weeks I had, asked for a Xanax latte. The guy had a witty but kind reply that made me laugh. I appreciated his attitude and banter. :) The vanilla latte was amazing. I've tried their caramel mocha (too sweet for me) and their salted caramel mocha (amazing!). I used to go to Starbucks about once a week and I'm even a gold card Starbucks member but over the past few weeks, I've driven, out of my way, about three times a week, to get Peet's. Peet's takes their time and cares about the way they create their coffee drinks. Starbucks is pretty run of the mill, generic tasting coffee creations. Peet's puts time, effort, and love (you can taste it!) into their drinks. I haven't been inside yet but I'm sure it's nice. The location is in a busy spot; I'd like to see Peet's take over a couple of the numerous Starbucks locations in the downtown Naperville area. Peet's is a coffee I'd love to have while walking around downtown or sitting in their cafe. THAT'S the kind of coffee I'd want while chatting with friends or reading a book. read more

I enjoy their coffee. It's at the same price range as Starbucks and Caribou but better tasting product. There is some issues with slow service but I expect that to change once they've been open for a while. I waited 15 minutes in the drive thru a few days ago around 3:00 pm, which seems like a weird time to be backed up... I think their black coffee is much better than Starbucks and WAY better than Caribou! The lattes are very good as well. All in all I recommend Peets, just make sure you aren't trying to make it to an appointment :) read more

I couldn't help but smile as soon as I spotted this Peet's from across the street. This corner coffee shop drew me in. The service was refreshingly friendly. The coffee I ordered was just the right temperature and the double window seat served for a wonderful spot to sit and relax for a few minutes as I watched the sun setting. We stopped into Peet's about 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday. My girlfriend and I were very impressed! The staff (Jason and another nice guy) talked us through the menu and popular drinks, we appreciated that since it was our first time here. We both got lattes and they tasted great! Did receive an e-mail explaining that they would contact me, weeks went by and I finally e-mailed again to have them answer the very talkative drive thru lady employee who was gabbing to the other talkative rude lady in line while we were waiting in line with a few other cars. Said they called me and left a message and was waiting for a response. Did not leave them a phone number, only an e-mail, so how did they try to get in contact. Don't like liars or people who avoid talking with you. The Management seems soft so I can understand why employees do what they do. GO TO STARBUCKS, MUCH BETTER SERVICE. OH THE DAY THE CARIBOU LEFT! Espresso is smooth not acidic. Coffees are a bit on the heavy side of full body. Pastries are average tasting and they don't heat them for you. Needs more couches. read more

I usually enjoy Peet's very much and as I have one right in my neighborhood, it is super convenient. Normally, I go through the drive-thru which can be a bit of a wait and long lines but the quality of the coffee is worth it. There is a tip cup outside the window to collect tips which is totally discretionary. However, this morning when I went for coffee and after I had paid, the server pushed a POS machine out the window to me and when I asked what it was for he replied that I "should leave a tip". When I questioned leaving a tip at a drive-thru he replied that he had "made the coffee". I am left in awe at the rudeness in this interaction and the inference that I had to tip when I am sitting in my car being handed two coffees that have cost $9. Can safely say, if this is the new policy at Peet's, then I have no interest in continuing to patron their store. It is really disappointing that you are now being shamed into tipping because someone has handed you an expensive cup of coffee out a window. read more

Being a Starbucks gold card member it's rare for me to decide to switch it up and go somewhere else where I won't be getting points, but Peets is well worth it! The staff went out of their way to be extremely friendly and professional. I got a eggnog latte which was delicious! ( much more natural tasting compares to Starbucks lattes). My only suggestion would be that they start a loyalty program. I will definitely be back soon. read more

I really cannot bring my self to give a chain more than 4 stars, but let me say that the employees that I met here were more than 5 stars!! The store environment is more grey-brown (compared to other large chain's beige or taupe brown-see the difference?). I agree with another Yelper that this location feels spacious inside. They have fewer displays of swag cluttering up the counter area. The seating area is ample with a large table to accommodate a large group if needed. Being that this is November and it was snowing, I cannot tell you about any outdoor seating. The parking lot is indeed a bit small and tight, with exciting access onto a very busy Ogden--and I visited on a Saturday!! Peet's is new to the Chicago area--so you owe it to yourself to check out their history. Actually, if you know the history of Starbucks, you know that Peet's (born in Berkeley CA in 1966) was the source of their beans originally. Like another Cali staple (Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf) this store has been around a loooong time. Maybe you know them from airports (PHL and HOU and IAH come to mind)? Their coffee has always been very good. If you like Starbucks, you'll love this. Their sweetened drinks tend to have less syrup than at SB (to my taste, correct me if I'm wrong, baristas!!) If you want more, ask. They can and will do that for you. This store offered two snacks labeled "wheat free," a coconut macaroon with chocolate, and a PB cookie. I tried the macaroon which was typical, and good enough. My drink was just a whole milk latte. This was also up to the standards I have expected from my regional visits. Expect to see a lot more of these in Chicagoland--the parent company owns both Peet's and Caribou, and is finally opening these stores in some of the former Bou locations. (I still miss you, Bou!).
