This has been my favorite place to get a latte. You don't need to add any syrups or flavors because the espresso has such an amazing flavor profile on its own. My favorite thing to do is grab a latte with my partner, and walk up to the railroad trail and go on a coffee walk. I highly recommend it. The burrito was pretty bland and definitely needed more flavor, and the sando was very basic nothing bad, just nothing I'd wait in a line for. Maybe the pastries are the real stars of the show, so I'd be willing to come back and give those a try. The restaurant has such a cozy, homey feeling that makes it perfect for a relaxed family breakfast. The food is always good, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it just feels like one of those neighborhood places that has been part of the community forever. One of my favorite things is coming when the farmers market is outside. After breakfast, we can walk around Montclair, browse the market, and make a whole morning out of it. I subscribe to the program to get Alaska/Atmos points on qualified dining, and I'm trying to get as many points as I can, so dining with restaurants as part of that program is helpful. The female cashier who originally helped me was kind, welcoming, and handled my items with care. I purchased about half a bag of candy from her, and everything was pleasant. I later decided I wanted some dark chocolate, so I returned to make another purchase. By this point, the store was getting busier, and another employee stepped in. He asked whether the remaining candy was mine. I explained that it was not mine anymore because I had decided not to purchase it. Instead of simply leaving it at that, he continued confronting me about the candy and the original $43 price. I had already decided that $43 was far too much for a small bag of gummy candy, so I only purchased the portion I wanted and left the rest behind. His attitude toward me was rude and unnecessarily confrontational. While I was paying for my chocolate, he even threw it onto the scale rather than handling it with the same basic courtesy the previous cashier had shown. When I pointed it out, he picked it up and gently placed it down. I asked why he couldn't have handled it that way in the first place, and he continued arguing with me about the candy. At that point, I told him that he was being rude and disrespectful. There were children nearby, so I chose my words carefully and left the store. I understand that employees have to protect their merchandise and can question customers when necessary. However, there is a respectful way to handle those situations, and this was not it. I would have happily taken my business elsewhere if I had known I would be treated this way. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I Definitely won't be returning.
