I stop here many mornings during my walk and EVERY SINGLE TIME every person in there is kind, attentive, and acknowledges you as soon as you walk in. They changed their bakery recently and now they have pistachio and almond queen croissant (I don't know why it's a queen). Don't be fooled by the dry appearance, it's actually soft and flaky like how croissants are supposed to be and the pistachio in the middle is a delight! I had a very upsetting experience at this location. While I was there, an older Mexican man was just walking outside when I heard the manager and two employees make very disrespectful and discriminatory comments about him, calling him "wetback" and "frijolero." Hearing staff use those kinds of slurs was shocking and completely unacceptable. Because of that, I went outside and asked the man if he wanted something to eat. I then went back inside and placed an order for him. When the cashier asked if it was for here or to go, I explained that it was to go and that the man outside would pick it up, and that I would pay for it. After I said that, the cashier gave me a dirty look and started talking to another employee next to her. They both then went to the manager, and all three of them were looking at me in a very uncomfortable and judgmental way. When the manager came to the counter, she just stood there staring at me before asking if I needed help. I told her I had already placed the order, and she responded that the man couldn't come inside and would have to take the food outside. The entire interaction felt rude, disrespectful, and discriminatory. The man outside wasn't causing any problems, and there was nothing wrong with his appearance or behavior. It really seemed like the staff were judging and discriminating against him. I had to leave for work, so I don't even know if they ended up giving him the food I paid for. No one should be treated that way. I hope the management takes this seriously because everyone deserves to be treated with respect. read more

Great location with a decently sized parking lot with 60 minutes free while inside. Plenty of indoor and patio seating and a community vibe. There are usually both groups and people working on a laptop inside. I love the Black Tie and am still dreaming about the holiday sausage waffle breakfast sandwich that's gone now. I always order ahead on the app but the staff always says hi. Prices are a bit cheaper than Starbucks and quite frankly the coffee is better. read more

The employee who took my order had very long, decorated nails, which caused her to repeatedly mistype and re-enter the order, leading to an unnecessary delay. this is the worst Peets coffee I have ever been to. They make you stand around and wait forever for a cup of already-brewed coffee. They literally only have to turn around. take one step, pull the nozzle and fill the cup. And for some reason it takes 5 to 7 minutes to do. When she handed us the water cup she rolled her eyes and did not respond when we said thank you. As we were leaving, we could hear her making fun of us (my boyf and I) with her male coworker, right in front of us. Please keep in mind, we asked for one small cold brew and one water cup. We tipped, waited about 5 minutes for her to serve us despite no line, and she could not have been ruder. Fingers crossed she was having a bad day and isn't truly like this to everybody, but quite literally the weirdest (and dumbest) experience I have had a coffee shop, much less a Peet's. I added siracha at home and or completed the meal. I am so happy peets is offering a plant based breakfast option! Their lattes, per usual, were great. I stopped in the other day before an appointment, I was so pleased to see they were very much in compliance with all the rules to keep customers and staff safe. I'm biased with Peet's because I love a cup of really strong coffee and they deliver. If you don't like dark roast coffee stay clear. If you do, this place is for you! It's nice to be able to order drip coffee and be really satisfied, something I can't say for Starbucks because it always tastes burnt. They have a lot of similar options to Starbucks but the quality is much better, for example I love their cappuccinos but would never order that from a Starbucks (I'll stick to the almond milk lattes there). read more

For its coffees, teas, and baked goods, Peet's merits 5 stars, but I had a disappointing experience here a few moments ago. My small dog is 14, cannot walk, and I push her to our daily coffee outings. No other cafe minds me bringing her in to order, then going back outside EXCEPT this Peet's. Before I could even place my order, the woman barista gave me an unfriendly stare and asked, "Is your dog a service dog?" I explained her age and condition and that I merely wanted to order to take it outside. Again she said my dog couldn't be inside and continued the stare. Then she turned to another barista, who seemed to grudgingly ok it. Really? This kind of reaction in uptown where there are almost as many dogs as people? I found the entire incident very anti social. Perhaps some training in how to welcome your customers instead of challenging them is in order. read more

I just walked out of the cafe in Hillcrest after getting horrible service with a side of snark from Andrew. I went in to buy beans, was surprised to find that the bean bar has been removed. After a conversation with a barista, she told me the packaged beans were ,"buy one get one free", but it rang up much more expensive. Andrew came over and told me it was actually buy one get one 30% off, and told me "we are very clear about that". I told him that the woman next to him had literally just told me something else, he got very snarky and said "is there anything you need, because the people behind you have been waiting a long time". I was there today, 9/17/2021 at 1:45 PM. My order was one Caramel Frappuccino and one dark chocolate almond milk mocha size large. The person at the register was nice at first however took the time to cancel my order when I asked for coconut syrup to be added. In doing this he/they also changed the milk to 2%. upon realizing this, I took said coffee and gave it away to the receptionist at my doctors office and returned to purchase a new mocha with the correct milk as I am lactose intolerant. Upon going in to order a second time with the same Super Skinny Barista, I spoke up as to clearly say "I would like, AN ICED DARK CHOCOLATE MOCHA MADE WITH ALMOND MILK NO WHIP CREME AND 4 PUMPS OF COCONUT SYRUP." to which he replied "are you sure?, you know there's a bunch of simple syrup and chocolate in there already?" I asked him to please take out the simple syrup. I normally would not have a problem but they way his tone was and how he looked at me was unacceptable. Yes, I am a heavy person, but I'm still a customer, The way he looked at me and how he asked if i was sure, just made it seem like he was calling me fat. I have never felt as low as that person made me feel over a coffee... please teach your employees to be nicer. that's all i ask. I paid for my second coffee in full not mentioning that the first was incorrect. I did not yell or make a scene but the way i felt after leaving was not how i wanted to feel. read more

Unfortunately they have shortened their hours since the lockdown and have not extended them since the reopening, so they close at 5pm these days. One major negative is the restroom - it stank of what seems like sewer gas before the lockdown a year and a half ago, and it still stinks today. If there's some structural issue, it needs to be fixed by the landlord. read more
