Starbucks is ok. Daily grind(s) are so-so. French Press is the best in town. Peet's is a close 3rd behind Handlebar. That's just fact people! The place is good, nice AC and the music they play is decent but a little loud. It's clean and new. Daily grind on mission is hot and not new, so this place definitely has it's perks!! My fav is the machiato with almond milk. This place is worth stopping by. It's at five points across from golds. Parking is in the back. read more

Mmmmm Peet's Coffee. I got hooked on this while on business in the Bay Area. I swear, it's like the crack of coffee. Very strong, and yet not a hint of bitterness. It's as if the coffee I usually drink is black and white and suddenly I was seeing things in color!! OK so not quite that dramatic, but ever since I had it in Oakland I've been going out of my way to get Peet's in the morning because it's just so good. My drink is always made exactly how I like it and it's pretty much the same every time - not like at Starbucks where I never know if my latte is going to taste good or taste like crap. This is Sunday morning, Nov 23rd, and Peet's is very busy. I went in to buy 8 oz. of my whole bean Cafe Domingo coffee. Having a very senior moment I forget the name and ask for their "medium roast" coffees - by the way which I have done before. No one there knows. There is no full listing of available coffees on their boards or on the brochures they have. I will now carry the name in my wallet and maybe tattoo it on my hand. There were a lot of customers there, and the two people serving them were barely keeping up. I went away empty handed, but someone there should have known their own coffees and aided a despondent senior citizen. By the way the parking there can be dicey during the week. read more

5 stars for their DARK coffee, very bold and inviting, unlike anything you would get at Starbucks (cough) or the other coffee place just a few doors down from Peet's. Amazingly good dark roast coffee (don't opt for anything else) and very good prices make this the hit of SB. read more

For the times when I wish to be ever so slightly less corporate coffee and I'm not near my coffee cat, I like me some Peets coffee. Honestly the coffee is better then Starbucks, major dickens blend is their house coffee and I find that to be far less acidic and burt tasting then pikes place. Also with their mixes they don't slam it with too much sweetness or flavor shots to overpower the not so great quality of some of the coffees and espresso used at the rivals. I find the staff to always be generally nice and helpful. Although in a side note the place has a strange Oder, not bad not good, just strange. Maybe some coffee roasting gone bad. read more

Truly the best coffee in town, or....anyplace for that matter. I love the downtown location, the upper state location isn't as clean and there is less seating, but it's still good. There's never any bitterness to any of the drinks and tea selection is excellent. Starbuck's and CBTL can't really compare. This is REAL coffee. read more

I have been a loyal Peet's customer for many many years but I've come to the end of the road. Today I walked out without my coffee beans because of the long line and the short staff. The place has been going downhill for a while with unfamiliar barristas each time I stop in. Makes me sad but I hope this helps make a change. read more

Consistent team and great java. This corner mall is an odd location and not easy to spot so the customers are the locals in the neighborhood. The store is small so the place feels appropriately cozy with people and customer traffic. The staff seems to be consistent, not turning over every week like so many coffee vendors. read more

I love Peet's coffee. I like darker roasts and I really like the way they roast there dark roasts. Also the staff here are always pretty nice and friendly. They also seem to remember their regulars. They make good lattes. A newer gentleman who I think might be newer, does a really great job on lattes. Froth is important to me! If I want coffee and feel uncertain on where I want to go, I just go here because they are consistent. read more

I love this place! I owned and operated my own Coffee Shop and I can tell you the espresso drinks are great The flavor profile of Peet's Espresso is very smooth and not bitter and still tastes like coffee! Service was a little slower than other Peet's but the staff was friendly. No outdoor seating, which was disappointing.

I don't understand all the good reviews. I moved away for 5 years and before that Peet's was my go-to without a doubt. Sadly, it seems the place has become a victim of an exodus of young customers and employees to hipper cafes like Handlebar or Dune with better service and drinks. I've been back 3 or 4 times hoping the service and drinks would improve to what I remember they were, but they don't, and each time I have walked out vowing never to go back. Pumpkin spice latte used to be my absolute favorite, now it tastes like a white mocha (three times, not just once). No cinnamon or nutmeg spice taste at all, very disappointing. They got rid of raspberry mochas and almost got rid of Hazelnut syrup, weird. Every time I have gone in the manager, seems to be dilly-dallying or yapping with someone while a long line forms and customers stand around looking at each other confused why things aren't moving along and not knowing where they should stand and order. The cashier every single time I have gone in has an issue that slows everything down to a grinding halt (always the same person in my experience). Meanwhile, manager is standing there like ho-hum. No hustle, no eagerness to keep things moving. It's really unbelievable third or fourth time around, so not just a fluke. The whole experience each time has been just awkward and frustrating for all customers it seems and a couple times when I got confused about where to order the manager made it seem like it was my issue why I was confused. Should not be this way when you go somewhere to get a relaxing experience and warm drink. The energy behind the barista bar and in the place is just meh. Not like it used to be at all. Parking lot never full anymore, used to be you couldn't get a spot or a table in the morning. Kind of says it all. read more

I shop coffee shops until the favorites bubble to the surface. This Peets is an unassuming shop that to my tastes has some of the best coffee and service around. Tricky to get into the parking lot, but always easy parking once you're there, which is nice. Often they put out samples to try, and they make a great cup of Matcha green tea too. read more

I have to say, there is no roasting flavor as fragrant as Peet's dark roasts - especially their French Roast and Major Dickason's Blend. I've been drinking Peet's coffee since college days. The staff does vary at this location, but the quality of the product is always amazing! read more

This is my favorite Peet's. I used to have a problem with the inconsistency of their drip coffees, but no longer! They used to use remnant beans from their bulk concession, and you never knew what you were getting when you ordered a cup of coffee. Some days YUM and some days BLECH. But now, they've changed that and offer either a dark roast or a light or medium roast. I now stop in several times a month and can expect to always have a delicious cup of coffee, every time. Add to that the homy feeling you get every time you walk in the door, and there is no better place in Santa Barbara to go for coffee. read more

Of all the coffee joints, this place makes the best lattes, cappucino. They put two shots of espresso on all of their small drinks. They don't steam in large buckets like Starbucks or Coffee Bean, so your cup is always fresh and they charge less than the other two competitors. They grind the beans shortly before they make your espresso, which means less oxygenation, less acidic, better for your stomach. Much friendlier employees too. read more

Pretty good coffee place. I go to Coffee Bean and Starbucks too, but nothing compares to Peet's Columbian Roast.
