Horrible employees have attitude towards their customers. I had my daughter come in because she needed the restroom for an emergency and they denied her and force me to buy something in order to get code to use the restroom. What kind of people force u to buy just to use a restroom. Have some decency and help when someone has an emergency! Bad Business. Code is 1258 tho if u need the restroom. Whenever I can get to Peets outside of the West Coast I am there. They tried to find a place in Georgia but chose the wrong location - Alpharetta. Bad choice for a test market guys. You should have chosen Midtown. So Peets is just the best coffee. It has the most body, consistent baristas. This is some serious training required to get a consistent cappuccino and latte correct EVERY time. They continue to do this as a chain. Strange thing did happen to me at this location. Inside of the store exiting the bathroom I stepped in a pile of doo doo. Seriously! We debated whether it was human or dog. I'd still go back. I'm a loyalist. read more

Not my favorite iced coffee, but it gets the job done. Little more expensive than Starbucks. $3.91 for a medium iced coffee with coco milk. Non-dairy options are soy milk, almond milk, and coconut milk. Lots of outlets and it's a good vibe for getting work done, not too loud and they play relaxing music. Lots of natural light. read more

Honestly, in my experience, most famous chain coffee shops like Peets are pretty good and standard across the board, generally with similar qualities of drinks and pastries. Since that makes it somewhat tricky to rate them differentially a lot of the time, I pretty much judge them based on two crucial qualities: bathroom sanitation and number of available outlets. This Peets wins a 5/5 in bathroom sanitation; they have those spacious one person bathrooms where you just open the door, and you're welcomed with the pleasant breezy scent of cleanliness! Thus, it was so close to getting 5 stars in my book, but when I moved tables to reach an outlet space during the middle of my afternoon visit, I plugged in my charger to find out that it was a faulty outlet (no electricity flowing). I had to move again, which is somewhat of an inconvenience when you have a lot of stuff with you, and there wasn't an abundance of outlets to begin with. In summary, thumbs up for bathroom sanitation, thumbs down for easy outlet accessibility. read more

I had to come to downtown DC for a short visit and spotted this little coifed shop. I hadn't had breakfast and needed coffee so I stopped by around 10 am. It was crowded. The staff was friendly and the clientele were business types. It's located close to the White House. I got a medium cafe mocha with a egg, ham, n cheese half sandwich. Very tasty! The service was excellent n quick. The coffee was made perfect and so was the sandwich. The total bill was $9.96. read more

When I moved to DC in 2007, my first boss went on and on about how amazing Peet's Coffee. 7 years later, he and I are excited that there are several Peet's Coffee in the DC area. This particular location is right next to the White House and has a constant flow of customers from open to close. Despite that, you can usually find a place to sit. I always get an iced latte and the foam they put on the top makes it different from any other latte in the city. read more

PSA: I was professionally pickpocketed at this location in mid-July 2017. Someone reached in my large and closed purse, pulled out my wallet, removed the credit cards, left my metrocard and ID and put the wallet back. Skillz. There is a security camera facing where I was sitting. At first the manager seemed very responsive in regards to getting footage. Yet, three weeks later, I've gotten the following excuses: 1) that she doesn't know how to replay back the tape 2) that her IT person is "afraid" to roll back the tape in fear of deleting the footage and 3) that the district level was able to access the tape but that "the light from the windows made the image blurry" Doesn't this seem like a lot of BS? The conspiracy side of me thinks those cameras don't work, or hell, that they are working with this professional ring and getting a cut. Aren't they concerned that their customers are being targeted? The pickpockets used all of my cards at a Target in Maryland, and luckily all were caught by my banks immediately. Lessons learned: 1- keep a card at home 2- keep your purse tight 3- don't trust corporate America to be on your side. I mean what are these excuses?! I've heard of Peet's Coffee before and I'm glad that my first experience was in the Washington DC location. The employees were very friendly and the location had a great atmosphere to study or have a nice conversation in. Whenever I go to a coffeeshop, I always order a cold brew and the Baridi Blend Iced Cold Brew was very good with a strong taste! Just how I like my coffee! read more

I'm very mixed about this review. Being a big Peets fan, I love their coffee and what they provide to their customers. The staff is nice and the location is prime (right next to the white house); however, there was something that was pretty basic that threw me off. I got my regular drink and also asked for a cup of ice water. The water I got was in a small plastic cup, not a separate peets cup (like the ones for their iced drinks) that I was expecting. This was fine; I understand maybe they did not want to waste the iconic cup for just water or that maybe there are too many tourists that just come in for water. As I was drinking the water though, I realized that there was plastic and specks floating in my cup. I really don't think having filtered water is that hard or costly, and was pretty grossed out by it. Having a little more faith in peets though,I was wondering if it happened to be just a fluke, so I asked again for water, offering my now empty peets cup that filled my iced coffee. The staff went over to the faucet and filled my cup, and again, there was floating plastic and stuff in my water. I would warn anyone against asking for water and just hope that peets actually decides to invest in buying water filters. read more

Dark chocolate pumpkin mocha was delicious! Sweet but not too overly. Faint pumpkin flavor and very chocolatey.

This location is located very close to the 1600 Penn Ave NW and as you can imagine, this Peet's Coffee is very busy . . . so much so, you will be lucky to find a seat within 15 minutes of getting your coffee. Anyhow, the staff are friendly even with the high volume tourists. read more

My review is 2-stars, but it possibly could be a 1-star. I have always been a big fan of Peet's Coffee and was thrilled to see it close to the White House, during our visit. The cashier taking our order, kept saying "your total is.." when we were a party of four individually ordering drinks and something to munch on. She totally missed orders because of this and resulted in our orders not actually being prepared. She also showed lack of accountability and care for this. Also, I ordered an iced coffee and my boyfriend an iced vanilla latte which were both underwhelming. Please just go to Starbucks across the street at least what you get there is consistent! read more

There's lots of seating and the baristas are quite friendly. I usually go for a caramel latte but opted to try something new and was happy with the decision. My boyfriend and I stopped at Peet's before hitting up the gallery. I had the Hibiscus Berry Splash Tea (very flavorful and only 160 calories), it was super tasty and refreshing. For any West Coast Peet's fans, do not expect the same quality of service or taste at the locations out East. I sometimes come to this location when I'm feeling nostalgic for home (I'm from CA), and the Peet's brand just isn't up to par at any of the locations I've been to out here. I've been to this location three times and two of those times they messed up my orders. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Starbucks, but at least they're able to get orders right on a regular basis. read more

I love Peet's! Even though it is a chain, it has solid drinks and food. This location is great - lots of space and the proximity to the White House, Renwick Gallery, and other sights in the area make it super convenient (yet every time I've come, it has never been really crowded).
