Easy to find along Snapp's Ferry. The building is set back from the road with the ample parking lot in front. The sign is a little small but it's set by the road so easy to see. There is no curb so you can pull in anywhere along their parking lot. Handicapped parking is by the door with several other spaces adjacent to the building. The remainder of the spaces are across a lane of traffic. There are tables of baked goods right in front of the door as you enter. The pastry cabinet is to the left, along with cookies, cakes, and pies. The large dining area is to the right. The selection was down a bit from expected, but I was there just before closing. They still had a good assortment. I tried the chocolate, cherry, and cheese Danishes. They were all fresh and very tasty. The fillings were as expected, and the dough was soft and buttery. The bear claw and apple fritter were also very good. The fritter had noticeable chunks of apple. This is certainly a stop worth making if you are in the mood for sweets. read more

Everyone in the area kept talking about how amazing Peggy Ann's Bakery was, so I thought I'd give them a shot. First of all, if you don't know where you're going then they're a bit difficult to find. The yellow sign by the road has nearly all of its letters fallen off, and there's no other sign out front with their name on it. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first walked in, so I took the time to look around. The first thing that I noticed was that there seemed to be limited options for those who are allergic to nuts- for example, I think all of their brownies contained nuts in some form. For a large bakery, I did expect a bit more variety. So I settled on a dozen donuts for the office, half glazed and half chocolate iced. They sure went fast! The glazed ones were what I'd expect, but the chocolate iced ones were absolutely amazing! I also took an individually wrapped chocolate cupcake home to have later, which was also very enjoyable. I have shopped at Penny Ann's for over 30 yrs and I put it right up there with the old Wade's bakery. But I ordered 3 cakes in the past month and was VERY dissatisfied with all cakes. The cake itself was as expected but the icing and decorations on the cake were disappointing to say the least. The icing was not the creamy smooth texture I was use to. It was very granular. And as for the decorations, the cakes from Wal-mart look better. When I called to voice my concerns, I was met with a very non-understanding manager. A local teacher recommended this bakery and I am really happy that she did. Everything is made fresh and in house. The danishes are absolutely delightful and melt in your mouth. The doughnuts are unique and very tasty. I like how they cut the doughnut in half to put the filling in. I tried quite a few and would have to say that all are good options. Try the bread and pie while you are there, too. When I stop in, I purchase quite a few options and take them home. Good for a few days. This little bakery also has a cute little deli that makes things to order, too. The ladies that work there are all nice and a few help by making recommendations. read more

Well, to me it depends on what you get here. If you order a cake with strawberries in the middle or the chess bars/brownies, I would give it 5 stars. The food that they serve and the cookies are closer to a 3 or 4. But would certainly suggest for special order cakes. Yummy! read more

They could be a little more creative when it comes to decorating. It was VERY difficult to explain what I wanted my special cake to look like, not just "run of the mill" florals and colors. A little more detail to custom color and detail would be nice. The cake was delicious without a doubt!!! sorry to say I cant recommend this bakery when you order a cake you expect to get the cake you ordered, On this very special occasion we ordered a Birthday cake for my daughters Bday, The outside of the cake was Perfect absoultely gorgeous cant say anything but A+++ on the outside of the cake. BUT thats where it end s we cut into the cake and omg it was pink all thru!!!!! It was supposed to be a white or yellow cake with strawberries layered in the middle!!! instead there was a solid sea of pink cake!!!
