I got the "Mongolian Steak" my second time, which ended up not being my thing, because the sauce was too sweet (I prefer savory meals). I do appreciate that they have a handful of bowls that are gluten-free, and that it's at least a sizable portion, but for what is essentially a bowl of rice, a handful of sliced meat, and a sprinkle of vegetables it's too expensive. read more

Smiling and helpful server, ordered up lettuce wraps and crab wontons, some edamame as well, yep Dr Pepper and my lady enjoyed some water with lemon. Nope forgot pictures! First time back in a long time. My gentleman and I decided to stop in for lunch and boy was that a good decision! It wasn't super busy yet and the line went pretty quickly. We ordered a Chicken Lettuce Wrap, Chicken Honey Seared Rice Bowl, and Chicken Chopped Salad. The only dish that came out decent was the Chicken Lettuce Wrap and it's not even a main dish! Chicken Lettuce Wrap: The chicken was salty, way over seasoned. So much so, you don't even need that sauce. But the flavor is nice and Lettuce is nice and crisp. Honey Seared Chicken Rice Bowl: This was literately just 8 pieces of chicken nuggets on a bed of rice. There were no other vegetables or even a garnish? I've gotten better "Orange Chicken" at a hole-in-a-wall Chinese restaurant than this. Disappointing. Chicken Chopped Salad: I'm not sure why this is even here. But at least just make it taste good. This was terrible. I know Pei Wei change up the menu to keep things interesting and fun. Using fresh ingredients and fun fusion recipes is always their core focus. This pandemic is really putting a dent in my culinary experiences. How many bologna sandwiches can you eat? I still haven't gone inside a restaurant, but I have slowly opened my bubble to take out and curbside. So, today's big adventure was here, at Pei Wei. I have been here a couple of dozen times and usually order one of two things, so I am very familiar with what is what. I had lettuce wraps and the Mongolian beef, a favorite (for the record, honey shrimp is the other). Couldn't wait for the five-minute trip to get it home and rip into it while it was still piping hot. And that's when everything went pear-shaped. (What does that even mean?) Back to the story: Lettuce wraps were delicious. Hot and juicy, with perfectly chilled lettuce cups. The sauce was ice cold which was a little jarring over the hot chicken, but I can deal. A couple wraps in, and I was ready to dig into my Mongolian Beef. Wa wa. It was cold. Like an inedible cold. OK, I own a microwave so I gave it a 90-second zap. Better. Much. Except the meat was dry and tough. Chewy, even. The sauce was good -- nice and tangy. It's Pei Wei for goodness sakes. There is an inherent expectation of quality. Apparently this location did not get the memo. In a neighborhood where you can barely swing a dead car without hitting a restaurant, I won't be back. Sorry, Pei Wei, you lose. read more
