I've been a Pei Wei fan for years and living in multiple cities. They used to have small and regular size entrees, and it seems since they got rid of the small sizes the regular sizes also shrunk in portion. The Mongolian beef is usually our staple, although we like to try different items and found the firecracker shrimp not that great. The batter I would describe as more hard than crispy, and there was not enough sauce, so I had to add some chili garlic sauce for flavor. The rice was also disappointing, and tasted kind of stale and not fluffy. Thankfully we had a bogo coupon, so it wasn't a total loss. Service at this location is always friendly. I'll probably be back to try other items. read more

This was a fine experience. It seems like many complain about wait times and the order taking process, but I don't have an opinion on that as I typically order online when I get Pei Wei. On this particular visit, I ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp with noodles as my side, as well as a side of chicken dumplings. Despite arriving mere moments after my order was scheduled to be ready and promptly returning home, the food was not hot. That was annoying. I've been to this location at least 10 times in the last 6 months and I have never had a bad experience. Every time, the service has been good, the food has been high quality, and it's been super fast. Something tells me that the company took notice of the past bad experiences and really turned the place around. Worth another try for sure! read more

Terrible customer service- I was ignored long enough for my other half to walk to nearby Chipotle, order and make his burrito, pay and return; just as I was finally ordering. There was no one in front of me except for take out orders, who he happily served first anyway. Fine, everyone has a bad day, whatever. I ordered my sesame chicken, plus one other entree for my kid, and they were made fast enough and handed to me to-go. Thought that was the end of it. Nope- when I opened at home, my sesame chicken was COMPLETELY COVERED with chili flakes. Almost inedible. See photo below. My kid said his was super spicy too- but hot honey chicken is supposed to be, right? Edit- I have been informed after submitting feedback to corporate that while my sale receipt was for two regular entrees, the kitchen slip indicated both should be "EXTRA SPICY". Literally the worst experience I have ever had at any pei wei location, I walked in at 7:00 pm two whole hours before close and I was astounded by the lack of care even in the slightest by the employees. I stood by the counter for near five whole minutes in an awkward staring match with the host until I literally had to ask if he was going to serve me out loud. After ordering the food came relatively quickly however the honey chicken I ordered burned my nostrils upon even getting near it. Entire pieces of chicken were literally burned to the point of a cracker like consistency I couldn't believe my eyes! The rice was overdone and gummy. When Pei Wei first opened 20 some years ago and was owned by PF Changs it was fantastic. Sadly...it is now inedible food that will make you sick. Absolutely everything we ordered was disgusting. All the chicken dishes with fried chicken don't have any meat inside the batter...it is just batter and air that you are eating. The non-fried Chicken is ok..but it is really stringy and weird. Everything seems to be frozen and heated up...not the way they cooked when first opened. We all had upset stomachs all night after eating it. They have no business being in business. read more

I rarely give one star reviews, but I'm making an exception here. I met a friend here for lunch yesterday and our first clue should have been that we were the only ones in the restaurant at 1:00 PM on a Sunday. The food was awful. I ordered the Chicken and Broccoli, he had the Asian Chopped Salad and we split an order of Steamed Dumplings. The Chicken and Broccoli was the best dish, but with over 3,500 mg of sodium I don't know how they can have a sign in the restaurant proclaiming their food is healthy. Both the dumplings and the salad were devoid of any flavor whatsoever. Neither the salad nor the entree included much protein at all. I hadn't been to Pei Wei in a long time and I won't be back anytime soon. read more

I visited this location a few weeks ago, and even though I live pretty far, I've been coming back a few times a week since then; not only is the food fantastic, the resturant/kitchen/bathrooms perfectly clean, and incredibly quick and efficient; the employees here are absolutely the sweetest, they are a gem in such a difficult time. I've met numerous cashiers at this point and I haven't had a single experience that was less than perfect. How do these places stay in business in a place like Scottsdale and continue to serve up this sloppy swill. I just ordered takeout, teriyaki chicken and I can barely chew the chicken. If you like fried cartilage and chicken ligaments bathed in dripping teriaki sauce with soggy onions you will love this place. Bummer I just wasted $ 15 bucks on a meal that is going straight to the garbage. Take my advice, you are better off with the 3 day old hotdogs at 7-11. Really this is hog food!! Pretty comparable to Panda Express. Nothing out of this world but a satisfying and quick lunch spot. Their Orange Chicken is really good, they make it in the wok fresh similar to Panda. I heard this is their test kitchen location for their corporate office, so that may explain why the food is pretty fresh. read more

Nailed out again! Grace is TERRIFIC! Service is awesome, food is hot & fresh. Grace took my order is spectacular: very friendly, helpful & hard worker. Plenty of seating, the parking lot is shared with others but is large, I always find a spot quickly. I had the Honey Seared Chicken: the chicken is very good, lightly breaded white meat with a sweet honey glaze, the noodles were a little bland. Grace, who took my order was bussing tables, she asked how it was, I told her the same opinion I've stated here & she agreed, Grace then recommended to request it be "tossed", this way they toss it together with the glaze & chicken, so the noodles will have the same flavor. How is this place still in business? This is a far cry from the Pei Wei that I remember. The food was not fresh or flavorful. I should have known when I walked in for dinner at 7pm on a Wednesday and the place was empty. I ordered take out there was no one at the front counter. One of the cooks took my order until the cashier came out and she clearly was not happy to be at her job. As the only customer in the restaurant she appeared irritated that I was there. Now for the food. I ordered the Mongollian chicken and when opened the lid the smell of the food was off. I don't know what it was but not pleasant. The chicken was cut in random sized pieces, some large and some chopped. It had a rubbery texture and while the description said steamed chicken it was chewy and the sauce bland. The green onions were wilted and the mushrooms were dark brown all over and soggy, not fresh. And the rice definitely looked like it was leftover and sitting too long it...the grains were broken and mushy. I took two bites and lost my appetite. It really was inedible and such a waste for $11.99. I ordered two dishes and my husband couldn't eat his either. Do not waste your time or money. This chain needs a complete overhaul or just needs to close its doors. read more

My mother and I had dinner there a week ago and it was THE WORSE WORSE WORSE SERVICE I've ever ever had. The cashier was also the server bringing food to the table. One of our order was SOUPS and the soup came over 30 minutes later and COLD COLD COLD! The Entrees were horrible, it tasted like microwave food. THIS IS NOT A REAL ASIAN CHINESE FOOD. We live less than half a mile from this Pei Wei and I finally decided to give their take out a try. First of all, I heard this was the test kitchen for their corporate office just a few miles away so it has to be THE BEST Pei Wei, right? Wrong! I ordered 4 dishes and it was out to me in an awkwardly fast minute. Like it was made super fast! I was happy about that and then when I ate dinner I realized that their quality of their product was just awful. Burnt tasting food, their egg fried rice tasted like white rice, Mongolian beef had chunks of chewy tendon/fat in it. It was AWFUL! I will never go to this Pei Wei again!!! Ordered my usual honey seared chicken. However I have a severe peanut and tree nut allergy. When I arrived home with my order I noticed a peanut in my food after I ate it. I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past. Unfortunately it has gone downhill in the past year. Tonight I decided to give it a try again for takeout. I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the orange chicken with white rice and there was absolutely no sauce. The chicken had a very slight sauce, but there was none left for the rice. Another dish was broccoli with shrimp which was fairly tasty but again no sauce. The tastiest dish was the honey seared chicken but again there was no extra sauce for the rice. I called the restaurant, but there is nothing they could do for me. I ask if they could give me partial credit, but they said that was not an option.
