Popped in here to read my first official book draft! Stephanie was so lovely and attentive and let me read and munch at my leisure! The sushi and sashimi lunch was great! The miso tasty and salad dressing fantastic! Loved the trifle oil in the side for added flavor!

Pure is a great spot for sushi in north Scottsdale. It's consistently good. They have a great happy hour from 3-6pm. Happy Hour prices are really reasonable. It gets busy because it's a popular spot. They also have fun specialty rolls. My favorite is their Loch Ness Roll and Creamy Baked Lobster Roll. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, bar seating and separate sushi bar seating. I recommend making a reservation.

MY REVIEW (originally posted on Instagram @gigieats) Found this sushi spot on Yelp and the SECOND my butt hit the chair, I devolved into a rabid pocket-gremlin with one functioning brain cell and that cell was screaming "SASHIMI!" The salmon sashimi didn't have enough time to melt in my mouth because I vacuumed it into my face like a Roomba with unresolved issues. The escolar slid down so fast even I was like "GiGi... slow DOWN... have some dignity," and then I didn't. That Naruto roll wrapped me tighter than my self-control ever could. And the salmonskin -- my personality trait, my reason for breathing, my emotional support crunch -- was a liiiiittle too crispy... like "touch it and it'll shatter into confetti"... but still good enough that I hunched over my plate like a territorial woodland creature protecting its newborn. I didn't dine. I made noises not approved by the FDA. But... If you need me, I'll be 6 minutes from home, perched in a corner booth, haunting this sushi place like a tiny unhinged gremlin with chopsticks and zero remorse.

I went to Pure Sushi with a friend on a Saturday night for dinner. We were seated at the bar which I always enjoy at a sushi restaurant. The staff was really nice and welcoming. We ordered miso soup and some sushi rolls. It did take some time to receive our sushi as the restaurant was slightly busy. Overall had a good experience and this is a good sushi spot for the area.

I've come here quite often with my family. Although I wouldn't say they make the prettiest, most perfectly rolled sushi, I will say that they get the orders out quickly and they still taste great. They offer happy hour prices on a few rolls and cocktails as well, just be careful since it can get quite busy around 5:30 or so. Plenty of seating indoor along with outdoor available when it's not deathly hot in the dessert

This is how my to go sushi looked after a 5 min ride home (barely moved at all) I feel like the chefs here could just put in a tiny bit more effort. The servers though are always super nice.

Pure is my sushi happy place. Granted it's busy. Make a reservation. Love the ambiance. Had the best waitress, super friendly, I apologize for forgetting her name. She had long black hair, she served the tables to the left from the entrance. The Pure Asian Pear. A drink drowned in alcohol. Be careful if you are a light drinker. Just saying

What a great spot for sushi! The ambiance was great and the space uniquely designed. I love a poke bowl and went for the tuna poke - perfect and full of flavor! Of course I had to try the miso soup - which was great with thick slices of mushroom in it.

We came here for a celebratory dinner after a warm day round of golf - started with the trio of dips and beer for the guys/wine for the gals. That was the only item that was brought home as leftovers. We finished the meal with the ice cream dessert and were pleasantly satiated (maybe even overly stuffed) as we walked back to the car. However, both the lobster roll and the shrimp po boy were fantastic in both taste and quality! The lobster roll looked smaller than others I've had before but it was absolutely STUFFED with sizable chunks of lobster meat. I would definitely come back for another one in the future. What I really appreciated about this place was that for a fast-casual dining experience, the service was very friendly and attentive from start to finish. We figured by now, the kinks would be worked out but unfortunately this experience was worse than our first visit. Let's start with the positive. The restaurant is absolutely stunning. The first time we sat upstairs and the vibe was amazing. Unfortunately, they said they could only seat us outside (although I saw many tables inside remain open during our dining experience). The outside was fine. They had a nice fire and the weather was just right. Chase was our waiter and he was patient and attentive. We ordered the guacamole (without cotija cheese) to start. It was so offensively salty (like someone dumped a bucket of salt in it) that all 4 of us agreed that it was inedible. I asked Chase if they could make us a fresh batch. He said he would send another order out. This time it came covered in the cotija cheese and was twice as salty as the first batch. That was taken away and we asked to try the street corn. What we received was a bowl of cold corn mixed in too much mayo and sprinkled in tajin. We didn't complain, we just didn't eat it. I did question Chase as to why they couldn't make us some fresh guacamole that wasn't overly salted and he said that they could, but it would take 25 minutes due to the fact that one big batch was made in the AM. What?! Shocking considering this place markets and prices itself as high end dining with freshly made food. I've made guacamole a hundred times and it's never taken more than a few minutes. I'm so surprised that the kitchen didn't want to make it right and served us the exact same thing we ordered plus the cheese we didn't want. For our entrees, we had the flank steak, the shrimp, chicken enchiladas and surf and turf. My shrimp was inedible. It was so incredibly salty (the theme of the restaurant) and not cooked properly. The inside was mushy and raw. My husband loved his steak and our friend enjoyed his surf & turf ($115). Our other friend liked her enchiladas but did feel like they were overly salty. We enjoyed our spicy margaritas and then on the next round, we asked for the pineapple infused margaritas. I asked for them to leave the syrup out of mine as I prefer my drinks less sweet. Another server brought them and I asked which one was the less sweet one. He said, "I don't know" and then bailed. Our jaws dropped. They were both syrupy so we let Chase know. He brought me one back that was better and made the way I asked for it to be made. We live down the street and have been to every restaurant in Market Street and surrounding areas and honestly, this would be at the bottom of our list and we won't be back.

Where things really took a turn was the food. I was so hoping I found a new staple in our walkable restaurants list but the food was mostly disappointing. We liked our fairly standard French onion soup and Caesar salad. The shrimp cocktail were not good at all. Shrimp was tough and mealy. They marinate them with a bunch of herbs. Maybe that caused the unpleasant texture? On top of that, I did not like the herbs used in the marinade. Good shrimp cocktail stands on its own! I should also add that these were $7/each. A week later I had the most amazing shrimp cocktail - tender and sweet and almost double the size for $4/each. I don't mind paying $7. I've paid $13 each for good shrimp cocktail. Just a lot of money to spend on something so disappointing. Our sea bass was also tough. Flavor was okay. The piece was fairly thin - possibly why it was overcooked? Our Open Table reservation was for inside seating, but the restaurant was packed and we were seated on the misted patio at a high top for four. A spinning device was placed on our table lamp to deter flying pests. It was warm on the patio but fully shaded, with an occasional drifting cool breeze from the open doors of the dining room. The view of the McDowell Mountains is gorgeous from the patio. Our server was a quiet young man who was training another new server. Drink orders were placed, waters delivered all around. Appetizers ordered and meal orders placed at the same time were timed appropriately for our entree to arrive after a pause. We ordered from the happy hour menu a Dos XX draft lager and a house red sangria to go with the spinach artichoke dip and tortilla chips. The sangria was lovely, a tart red on top then sweeter, with brandy perhaps ,when mixed from the bottom. Several slices of citrus filled the glass. Beer was cold and a full pint. For $16 the spinach artichoke dip is a pricey appetizer at happy hour. It comes in a little cast iron skillet with oil all around the edge of the bubbling cheesy dip. Is truly thought they had overheated it, but the center was still creamy, the cheese unbroken. The tortilla chips were so light and crispy I had to inquire with the server if they were truly all corn or a blend. All corn! This was the most flavorful and delicious version of this dip I have experienced in any restaurant, and I do order it frequently. My only complaint was the spinach is too stringy and should be lightly chopped before adding to the dip. For my entree, I ordered the happy hour chicken lettuce wraps $10. They were pre-assembled portions of spicy dark chicken with corn and hot sauce. The lettuce cups were small but held up to the fillings. The chicken was one dimentional in flavor, just hot sauce and nothing else. I won't order this again, what a shame and a missed opportunity for a spectacular dish. One son had the 105 burger , a house double smash burger with waffle fries. He enjoyed the burger a lot, planning to save half then eating it all anyway. The garlic aoli was his favorite thing. He pronounced the waffle fries too crunchy. Almost like kettle chips, they lacked the tender insides he prefers in a waffle cut potato. Husband agreed. He had the same fries with his absolutely amazing French dip sandwich with prime rib. Especially awesome was the horseradish sauce and the dip which clearly had meat broth not just bouillon. Nice job! I got to eat about a quarter of it when he couldn't finish and yummers! I should add, our server made husband's beer $3 because they have a $19 burger and beer special (and son had a burger with no beer). This was very kind and honest! Other son ordered the short rib rustica pasta. This was a very filling dish. He enjoyed the meat sauce, it was very rich and tender. The house made rigatoni was broken, flattened and cooked too soft for his liking. Nonetheless it was all gone in a flash. When I suggested dessert, neither boy was really interested but I insisted because of the celebratory nature of our meal together. The wait staff brought our two desserts with four spoons and two candles in honor of the boys birthdays. The neighboring tables joined us in singing to our kids when the servers left. It was sweet. And so we're the desserts! A brownie sundae with dulce de leche ice cream vanished quickly. The boys were amused by the potato chip garnish. The seasonal ricotta cheesecake was also a dulce de leche flavor and it was fabulous. Dense, rich and smooth, I ate more than my share of this decadent wedge of heaven. Accompanying strawberries and blueberries were appreciated as a nod to healthier choices. The birthday desserts were both comped, very generous and thank you to the manager! When the bill arrived, we tried to pay using the QR code but the receipt is only for joining their e club. Server brought a kiosk and we paid on the spot. All very efficient.
