    Mongolian beef, chicken dumplings
    Yelp V.

What a great find this was! I got the Mongolian beef - totally different than any Mongolian beef you will have anywhere! Normally it is a mixture of assorted vegetables mainly onions with some cabbage and also the beef is usually very dense and thinly sliced beef loin. However, at this place they've taken that up several notches. They use brisket that is slow cooked and then oven roasted. Oh my God! Did not expect that coming. The rice was very nicely done. Also the chicken dumplings were quite flavorful. Along with a custom-made sauce just go get it you'll enjoy it!

Located in Scottsdale Quarter, you can find Liz Modern Asian right next to Sweet Greens. Owned and operated by a husband and wife team, each dish is freshly made. The plating is pretty and the service is stellar. Very kind folks and feels like a home-cooked meal. Delicious!

Liz Modern Asian is small restaurant in the Scottsdale Quarter. It did remind me of some other Chinese restaurants where one of the tables is completely messy and filled with personal effects of the owners. I tried out the dynamite tofu with seasonal vegetables. The service was quite accommodating as she asked me plenty of questions. Even when she got my order wrong, she went and got it fixed. Overall, the food was pretty nice and the atmosphere of the place was relaxed. My meal cost me $16.20.

We had the Mongolian beef, Korean fried chicken, and potstickers. Everything was outstanding. This was our first visit and we will be back. The hand made upon order potstickers were the best we have ever had. Service was efficient and very friendly. Thank you!

Restaurant Week Fall '25. They would have gotten higher stars for service and quantity, but I must enjoy coming back for the food. The sweetest couple runs this establishment but I found the presentation and flavors bland and lacking.

We were on a vacation staying nearby and had this place suggested to us as affordable and homemade Asian food made by the owner so we thought, yes let's go check it out! Let me tell you, it felt like going to eat at my mom's house: we ordered 4 dishes but then she brought out "an appetizer" for us to try: it was huge! Our spread ended up being so large that we had enough for lunch the next day! Overall, I was quite pleased: if I had to say it, while the wonton noodle soup was an incredibly generous portion, I kind of expected the traditional small wontons and got giant dumplings that could have been its own full meal! We also got to meet their daughter Liz, who had the best time coloring with our kiddo. Restaurant has such a nice homey vibe. Like I said, it felt like going home to my Asian momma's kitchen. :) thank you!!

We just had lunch and the food is above average terrific! Don't get hung up on the less perfect ambiance...It's all about the Good food! All the dishes were delicious and not greasy like most Chinese restaurants! The owners were welcoming with a family feeling. They gave complementary dishes to try like bao w/chicken and crispy chicken spring rolls! We had more than we can eat and we happily packed the left overs! It's no wonder they are still around in a high rent area!

My friend and I had reservations for liplab and decided to make reservations for this spot since we haven't been here yet since it opened. We walked there 10 mins before our reservation and waited about 5 mins before someone came to say hi. I let them know we had reservations and they said we couldn't eat inside as they had a bday party. I again advised that we had reservations and they said, "fine we will clean a table" They cleaned up a table in the back but the mess from the party was still there. They shouldn't allow reservations if they had private events beforehand. The food was not bad but it was nothing special. I would just say, if you're wanting authentic Asian food, I wouldn't go here and even if you had reservations, call the day of to confirm they can still take you.

Delicious Asian food, friendly family owned vibes. High quality ingredients which is hard to find at many Asian restaurants. We'll be back!!

Home is wherever @lizmodernasian is! Thank you Liz & Howard for your unmatched hospitality, unreal flavors, and Michelin-level quality every time. We came hungry and started with steaming edamame, dumplings, and tempura shrimp (the holy trinity) The cashew chicken & veggies is my go-to lighter option - but this visit, the steamed bao buns stole the show - melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Liz even brought out seaweed so we could roll our own sushi - something I wouldn't have thought to order...now I'm fully obsessed! The dish that officially tops my list though: Liz's Lo Mein Noodles combo with chicken, pork, & beef. I've never tasted anything like it - dangerously addictive. 10/10 experience. Always. And strolling around the beautiful @scottsdalequarter afterward is the perfect way to end the evening. Counting down til my next visit!

Stopped by Liz Modern Asian restaurant with a friend for dinner. Liz's is a causal spot, with inside and outside seating. Services was a little slow even though there was no one else in the restaurant. The Mongolian beef and Cashew chicken was tasty. The spring rolls were greasy and over cooked.

I came here with family to have some authentic Chinese food and it did not disappoint. This is a small family owned restaurant next to the Sweet Greens that's coming soon & across the street from Pressed Coffee. The service was impeccable and the food was flavorful and reminded me of home cooked meals. The family is so sweet and attentive. The place is clean with a very homey vibe. I highly recommend this restaurant! Very family friendly. Show them some love if you're in the Scottsdale area!

I get that Dinner is more expensive because portions are bigger but in a range from $2-4 even for items priced at the same amount for lunch (two items are $11 @lunch but @dinner one is $13, one is $15). Owner's answer doesn't address this?

Lunch portions are generally smaller and dinner portions are larger.

We brought family from out of town and had a party of 11 (six adults and five kids). There was a long wait, which we completely understood. We spent the time at the bar where the service was excellent, and the kids browsed the nearby shops. Unfortunately, once we were seated, the experience went downhill. Our server seemed to have little sense of urgency. Everything took an unusually long time, but the biggest issue was the food, which took well over an hour despite being a very simple order of burgers, sandwiches, and other basic menu items. Throughout the wait, we watched tables seated after us receive their food and leave while we were still waiting. The most frustrating part was the lack of communication. Rather than checking in or providing an update, our server was frequently visible chatting with coworkers and rolling silverware. When our food finally arrived, it was at best room temperature, making it seem like it had been sitting for quite a while before being brought to the table. We asked to speak with a manager, who said she would look into it, but never returned to follow up. That lack of acknowledgment or accountability was even more disappointing than the delay itself. We declined the offer of dessert because we needed to get the kids home, yet instead of bringing the check promptly, our server spent additional time clearing the table before finally processing our payment. As someone who has worked as a server, I understand that delays happen and kitchens get backed up. What makes the difference is communication, ownership, and making guests feel like their time matters. None of that happened here. It's unfortunate because we've had good experiences in the past, but this visit left us embarrassed that we chose this restaurant to host visiting family.

My wife ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon and a Caesar salad, plus wine while I got the 22 ounce Ribeye and a side of Poblano and PepperJack Grits, plus an iced tea. It all came to $137.11 plus tip. Our salad arrived in 8 minutes and our dinner 10 mins later. The salad was outstanding.
