WE Energies: The city of Oak Creek has an interesting grid as large portions of the city seem to go…read moreout with no obvious rhyme or reason to the pattern. It looks like a checkerboard with large blocks having power, while some right next door or adjacent, lose it. I'm "lucky" enough to live on the portion of the grid that seems to lose it multiple times a year. On Monday 7/27/26 I experienced the worst power outage I've had while living in Oak Creek. My power went out around 3:00pm and was not restored until after midnight. While it thankfully wasn't winter with freezing temperatures to worry about, the outage lasted just long enough to ruin the food in my fridge and some of it in my freezer (all my Ben & Jerry's!!!). To make matters worse, all the local grocery stores lost power as well and had to dump their perishable items. What's most messed up though, is WE Energies' useless app/updates and lack of communication. I'll include the screenshots I remembered to take. Their app initially said power was estimated to be restored by 8:00pm. This was displayed from around 3:00pm until 7:30pm. It then updated to "specialized crew needed" with "facilities patrolled-no problems found". It took 4.5 hours to determine that, really?! I then got a phone message saying the power could be out for multiple days! This left me scrambling as I attempted to find ice (remember, all the grocery stores are now closed) for a cooler to preserve some essentials. Exhausted and stressed, I attempted to get some sleep before needing to be up at 5:45am for work the following morning. My home was like an oven without the AC, and between that and the stress, sleep somehow alluded me.... Eventually power was restored around 12:45am. The cause you ask? It was a tree apparently. I can see how a "special" crew was needed to determine that one. Give me a break. After receiving my next bill at the end of August, I called to request a credit for the groceries that were lost because of their failure to provide my home with power. In short, I was told that they could not do that because I was not charged for power during the time that it was out. Basically, WE Energies does not want to take accountability for their lack of reliability. It's comforting to know that the $30 of groceries I lost is equal in WE Energies' eyes to the $1.37 I saved for the 10 hours without power...... *I realize many people in WI, the USA, and other parts of the world have experienced much worse. I feel for those people and understand how lucky I am for modern conveniences and for this being the worst I've experienced. Still, this was not a fun experience, and WE Energies needs to do better.

Thanks for nothing.

My mother is nearly 92, still drives and lives alone in her own condo since dad's passing 14 years…read moreago, and has been a resident of Sun Prairie, WI since 1968. She stopped in to pay her bill and when she left the building on Main Street, some inconsiderate bastard parked his bicycle blocking part of the handrail when there is a bike rack on the front lawn of this business. My mother tripped over the bicycle and fell to the ground hitting her head, and was lying in front of the building on the sidewalk in the heat for ten minutes before two ladies found her and helped her to the Bench in front of the City of Sun Prairie operated business to sit down. They got the Supervisor who Moved My Mothers Car for her to get in and Drive Home where she took 2 aspirin for the head injury and then took a nap. The idiot manager of this City of Sun Prairie operated business was so Stupid that he did not call an ambulance, which is standard operating procedure for anyone with a head injury. How stupid and incompetent!!! The City of Sun Prairie is damn lucky she did not have a cerebral hemorrhage and died after driving home and ingesting aspirin, a blood thinner. I'm relieved we are not planning her funeral. The next step would be a lawsuit against the City of Sun Prairie, the supervisor and the bastard with the bicycle. She had a headache for four days and had to cancel obligations due to the injury she sustained and no appropriate medical treatment due to the negligence of the City of Sun Prairie supervisor. What happened to her warranted an Immediate Call for an Ambulance at the City of Sun Prairie's expense and an MRI at their expense. This is both Elder Neglect and Elder Abuse. That incompetent and ignorant supervisor needs to be fired.
