Our server was a CHILD roughly 10 years old. He was annoyingly curt. Arriving a little after 3:00pm, we were handed lunch menus. We ordered our drinks, requesting "tea" expecting traditional hot tea service, but - our error, I guess - we received two iced teas. Didn't attempt to correct it. We had made our choices from the menu and were ready to order when he brought the drinks, but he quickly left and then returned with different menus. "Lunch ended at three. Dinner menus. Same things," we were told. Hardly. Dinner entrees did not include sides. The total bill including the sides and drinks would have been $35 for the two of us off the lunch menu, and $60 from the dinner menu. "No, we're not going to do that," I told him. "$7 for the drinks," was his comeback. I pulled the bills out of my wallet, set them on the table, and we left. Never to return. read more

I've not been to all of the Asian restaurants in Centralia, Salem and Mt Vernon yet, but I've been to most and so far this would be ranked 5 out of the 5 I have tried. I've only tried it once so I may have not ordered what's really great here. The dining room is nice and is kind of the usual over the top Asian decorations you'd expect. The service was prompt. The good just wasn't that flavorful. I had hot and sour soup that was pretty bland. The chicken with orange flavor had a lot of sauce but not much flavor either. And the fried rice wasn't that great either. read more

I enjoy coming to town and dining at this Chinese decorated restaurant, with an ambiance of natural music,because of the friendliness of the staff and the quality of their authentic Chinese food. My favorite dish is Kung po mixture of savory shrimp, beef, and chicken with peppers and various Chinese vegetables, sprinkled with peanuts- along with delicious fried rice. I enjoy their egg drop soup. They make it with peas and carrots. Unlike some that are runny and loaded with thickening flour. I actually believe this broth is healthy for you. read more

The food was terrible. My noodles was cut up into little pieces. They mixed the beef and noodles. The crab rangoon was nasty you can't taste the crab. It tasted like straight cream cheese. Would never go again. It doesn't taste like it used too. read more

For $10 the lunch special included an entree (wide selection), fried noodle snack with sweet and sour sauce, soup, wonton or egg roll, fried rice, drink, and fortune cookie. Old fashioned sit down chinese restaurant. Very classical in decor, with a little darker lighting than some. Brightly painted wall. It looks like no buffet. :). It looks like they have a full bar, but I did not drink any alcoholic beverages. The tea was very aromatic and flavorful. I found out it was a Jasmine tea. Had egg roll. It arrived promptly, hot and NOT greasy. It was flavorful could really taste the veggies. The waiter warned me of the wait on the pot stickers. I like when servers do this. The pot stickers were delicious! Moist and meaty, yet well fried on the bottom. Served with plenty of well made Goyza. The hot sour soup was very flavorful and tangy. It was also one of the spiciest I have tasted. But it was easy to temper the heat with the battered, spiced, and fried won tons provided. This was the highlight of a superb meal. For the entree I had mixed vegetables. They were fresh and good. I should have read the menu closer. They came with a brown sauce, and I prefer white. The fried rice had no flavor or ingredients, I think I will order white next time. I caught the lunch menu today. It was pretty diverse Oh and the total bill was less than Hardee's. I ordered take out today. I always request crispy noodles for my soup and I received them. It was a big bag for 2 soups. The crab Rangoon was flavorless. My hot and sour soup has zero ingredients except the broth and egg. I am not kidding. Zero bamboo shoots, mushrooms, tofu, zip. My 3 musketeers entree had 4, come size "scallops", and ONE shrimp, with 5pieces of beef. Ridiculous. I should have ordered the beef with Chinese vegetables. $4 cheaper. The man told me it was $36, I KNOW what I heard. I realized when I got home , I was over charged. Whatever. Merry Christmas, because I sure don't be back. read more

We moved away from Centralia over 13 years ago, and I still dream about the Crab Rangoon! It is the best I have ever eaten. On the table they have fried wontons with sweet and sour for dipping while you wait for your food. your choice of soup with most meals and either one crab rangoon or one egg roll. My other favorites on the menu are the Garlic Chicken and the Shrimp Fried Rice. Everybody in my family, extended family too, gets something different and I just can't think of one time we were disappointed. The prices are so reasonable. We get back to visit at least 3 times a year, and we eat their multiple time during our stay. order extra Crab Rangoon, you won't be disappointed. read more

Food was great for the area. I was not expecting the quality I got in this small town. Crab Rangoon was better then I ever had ! Fast and friendly as well. I went at night and in the parking lot i felt safe as well. Weather you live in this area or you are visiting friends and family. For a quick meal I would highly recommend. read more

Food is good but not good enough to compensate for rude service. At the end of my meal I requested two to go boxes. I needed one for my entrée and other for my rice and crab wantons. I was leaving there for Mississippi and it would be easier to eat the wantons on the road over a box, then to let them drip onto a bag. The server brought one, holding the box I said "Please bring me another large box like this." He returned with a small brown paper bag, told me to put my rice in with my entrée and place my Crab wantons on the box in the bag. I said "no, I don't want to mix my rice with my entrée, I want to put my rice in another box and put my wantons on top of my rice, please bring me another box like this one". He returned with a small waxed bag, again told me to put my rice in the box with my entrée and I could put the wantons in this small waxed bag. Once again now getting a little angry I explained why I wanted a second box like the one my entrée was in. He returned with a very small to go box and told me to put the wantons in the small waxed bag. Now very upset I raised my voice lifted the box with my entrée and loud enough for the rest of the consumers to hear told him to bring me a box like the one my entrée was in. After five requests for the box and one scene I was granted a second large to go box. read more

I am a 20+ year fan of this little kitchen. I travel extensively for my job, and Peking is still the best Chinese restaurant that I have found. The pot-stickers are worth the extra few minutes and are hands-down the best I've had anywhere (order them with your drink order - the kitchen will start as you read the menu). Great soups, crab Rangoon, egg rolls, and the bones are great (fish sauce, garlic, soy sauce marinated pork bones). I highly recommend the Hunan Flower Steak, and Crispy Shrimp. The feature that sets Andy and his staff apart is that the Uncle in the kitchen knows how to make all of the sauces have tastes that set each apart - not overly sweet and not any spicier than you ask for (and he can definitely bring the heat, if you ask for it). The chow mein, Szechuan dishes, and curry dishes are great staples of this eatery. Andy and the wait staff will make you welcome and invite you back. Uncle and the kitchen staff will send out a dish that will set the bar higher. This is a great little restaurant by any standard - small town or large city. read more
