    Hibachi table

I can't speak highly enough about this place. It use to be a staple for my husband and I when we were in college at Purdue (2003-2007). Tonight, we were able to take our children to this location for the first time. It was almost nostalgic. So many of the things we loved (decor, staff, food) were just as great as they were 20 years ago. The staff even recognized us from many years ago prior. This is authentic Japanese Hibachi. If you have an appreciation of delicious Japanese cuisine, go here! I wish we lived closer so that we could visit more often.

I made reservations by calling the restaurant and speaking with a live person. Discussed the best time for a reservation on Easter Sunday, and agreed upon 1:00 pm. We arrived a little earlier than 1:00 pm to find the restaurant closed and the parking lot empty. We drove hours from our home to meet up with our daughters, one of whom also drove hours. This was to be our Easter dinner celebration, but we were left in the cold despite having a reservation. This gave us time to look around. We found a lot of filth behind the restaurant, it is dated, and has a general unkept and dirty feel to it. Obviously, I cannot speak to service or food quality, but they are not reliable and do not offer a pleasant dining experience. Strongly recommend that you stay away, especially if traveling from out of town to meet your Purdue student for a special meal. They may leave you all alone.

Dining room. Very clean place. Super friendly and super good food!

Fabulous pre covid, still fabulous now. If you've never had Teppanyaki before, this is the place to go. The cook is a very nice and funny guy. I won't ruin the experience by posting any spoilers, but you're in for a laugh. If you act like a wet mop, he'll sense that and probably won't bother you much, but why would you want to? This place is an experience as well as dining. It isn't a huge place so be prepared to wait if they're busy. There are about 8 spots to sit around the grill, and he cooks for everyone that gets seated there. Sometimes it's just you, or it could be two or three other couples! Now they seat less to a table to keep you socially distanced. Watching him cook is oddly satisfying, and it's served right in front of you piping hot. Very delicious. He likes to offer you different pieces of meat too if people get different things. For example: my husband usually gets steak and chicken. I get shrimp. He'll give me a piece of steak, and a piece of chicken to try while giving my husband two pieces of shrimp. All entrees are served with miso soup and salad. I highly recommend the sesame dressing. I tried red bean ice cream for the first time, and it was so delicious! It kind of tasted like candy. I will forever come to this place until it's gone or I die. Whatever comes first.

My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out on a Sunday afternoon. It was quiet, there was only one other party of two there. The decor is definitely outdated and it seemed as though this has been around for awhile. The waitress was friendly and welcoming. We both ordered the steak and chicken hibachi with gyoza as an appetizer. Our salads came first. I chose the ginger sauce, while my bf chose the sesame one. I liked his better, but I just wanted to try something different! Our gyozas came out next. It was fresh and really hot! Once it cooled down, the flavor was great, and the sauce complimented it. Next, the chef came out with his cart. He was very friendly and explained the different sauces that paired with the meats. Even though we ordered the chicken and steak, he added a couple pieces of shrimp, which we appreciated. The portion was very large and I really liked the sautéed vegetables! Overall, the food was great but it is a bit overpriced. As someone stated in a previous review, you are paying for the show. You can get a similar meal at a cheaper cost at a different Japanese restaurant. It was a good early dinner date though for my boyfriend and I. Maybe with some renovations this place can get a little bit more business, because I can see it being a great spot for a date night.

This place is okay. The food is just average, nothing real special. The good thing about this place is that the chef interacts with the customers and makes it pretty funny. He is really good with the kids. The other table with kids loved his comedic act. The food can be a little bit too salty for me, but that's just my own taste.

I've lived in Lafayette my whole life (except for 6 years in the service) and had only been here once when I was a teenager. We were driving by to go somewhere else to eat and I joked about stopping at Mt. Fuji for dinner. So we tried it. The food was really good! I got the Steak Habachi and the spouse got the Fish Habachi. The only thing you need to be aware of is it is a Habachi restaurant. So you sit at a table with others. They aim to wait until a table is full and orders are taken before your chef comes out and cooks everyone's food. So if you come in hungry, expect this and order an appetizer. I'm deducting one star as the high chair they had was broken. Don't let the faded sign and outside appearance of the place deter you. It was clean and the staff was friendly. Recommended!! (Also I was very pleased to use the word 'Habachi' so many times in this review)

The only Japanese teriyaki in town. What can I say? It is a qualified restaurant, but not impressive.

Upon entering the hostess asked if we had a reservation, we did not as this was last minute find. The hostess advised there was a table available in the bar area or a large 6 top table behind the hostess stand. We selected the 6 top, while not in the main dining area it was still a good table and our server Karis was great. Complimentary Bread is served. The bread was served warm and soft. Ordered the Scallops and asked for them to be prepared in a lemon butter sauce which the kitchen was able to do a lemon beurre blanc sauce. Served with a side and soup or salad or a 2nd side if no soup or salad is selected. Requested some tartar sauce however it had a very overpowering Dill flavor. French Onion soup had the right amount of bread and more broth than cheese and onion. Had the Ribeye Cap special which needed a touch of salt and it was cooked a little more than the medium rare plus ordered. Served with a side of Burgundy Mushrooms heavy on the Burgundy flavor and Shoestring Onion Rings however not really on the true sense of Shoestring Onion ring size of things unless your into fat shoelaces but they did taste good. Overall great service and good food

The servers are basically Purdue students and they were very professional, prompt and welcoming. Definitely some place where you should come with out of town/state date to impress them. All their offerings are 3 course meals. A salad or soup, an entree and a dessert. I tried their salad, Atlantic cod fish with some veggies and fresh fruit as the salad. I verified from the server that they don't use alcohol to cook. They had some interesting desserts, but did not try from concern of non-halal ingredients. It was nice to sit down to a hot, well made full service meal on a campus full of student food choices. I had the Italian special, which was their daily special today. The pasta was well cooked, slightly on the bland side but once I salted it m, it was great. There were a lot of pieces of shrimp and plenty of fresh spinach in the bowl. The serving was a good size and also came with two mini cannoli. The cannoli was the highlight of the meal. Delicious cream, not too sweet loaded with chocolate chips and the perfect size. Service was also good, it's nice to be waited on instead of doing a cafeteria style meal. I'd recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a "better" meal at Purdue.

First off, I have always picked where I want to sit, the part about "server is busy, and that table is served by a specific server" is nonsensical, they should really change or add a server to the seating area that customers prefer (near window, more lighting etc) rather than having the customer sit somewhere else for their servers convenience. Secondly, I picked up the glass for water and it smelled like an egg, I called out the server (who already seemed annoyed to change of seats) and told her about the glass and the response I got was "we wash our glasses in vinegar so it must be that", well first off, I know the difference between vinegar and egg smell, secondly, it was disgusting and I cannot drink water in it, instead of arguing, she really should have just changed the glass, it's not that hard.
