The food was standard fare for a Chinese buffet. But the dessert was pretty fresh. I did think that the honey chicken could use a bit of work, most of it was dry on the inside despite the glazing outside. The fried chicken was hot though. Fresh out of the fryer. And most importantly, cooked all the way through. Usually at Chinese buffets, the fried chicken will still have a bit of pink of the meat stuck directly on the bone. Not this one. I walked in at 3pm, so it wasn't like I was right on time for the lunch rush either. They had some moderately loud music playing, not so soft that you can't understand the words (80's and 90's songs mostly with a few early 2000's) and not so loud you can't have a conversation. Pretty good. 2 televisions in the back, 1 was off and the other on news with captions. Where it really impressed me though, was the service. I had a gentleman with short hair and glasses serving me. No frills, just immediately had me in a seat and had my drink to me before I got my first plate of food. Again, I arrived at 3pm, it wasn't exactly busy, but compared to other buffets in the area, I was pleasantly surprised. They also had a little fridge up front which I didn't get a picture of, it had bottles and cans for to go drinks, but also the Japanese soda, Ramune. Lychee, orange, mango and blueberry flavors. Delicious. The buffet bar line was also very clean, didn't see any spills anywhere unless they literally just happened from myself or another guest. Highly impressed, I'll be coming back. read more

I've only ever eaten the buffet here and it's hit and miss. When it's fresh it's really good, but other times it's a waste of money. Seems clean and the place is in good shape. Not a lot of seating and you see very few of the staff. read more

One of the worst experiences EVER!!! They were rude when we walked in, they ignored us, they didn't speak to us until we finally spoke to them after 5 minutes and then it took them 10 minutes to get us our DRINKS!!! I wished I would have recorded it! It was WAY OVER PRICED! The food was about average and the Japanese food was ok that the man who cooked for us! The bathrooms were nasty! The water tasted AWFUL! The floors looked dirty and the best part is the waitress was either HIGH OR SHE WAS JUST NOT GOOD WITH PEOPLE ! My boss thought she was as well but we tried to bare through it all! I wish I could give 3&1/2 but because of excellent service, I'll give 4! We stopped here after a long 9hr drive hoping to find a place that could fit our family! We had 15 people with us and upon arrival, the building seemed small and we weren't sure if we could get a table! However we walked in and the staff cleared a space for all of us, the staff was incredibly friendly and continue to bring out fresh food! The food is not bad at all! 2 stars only because of the very friendly and attentive staff. The food was horrendous though (even for a Chinese buffet). It's a shame that it is so difficult to find even a mediocre Chinese buffet outside of NY, LA, or SF. You would think that with as "Americanized" as it has become that it would be fairly simple....... We decided to try at what we thought would be a good time for fresh and hot food which was about 5:30 pm. Nearly all of the choices were barely warm at best, all of the fried items were overly battered as well as overly fried. Most everything was overloaded with salt and MSG versus authentic Chinese spices and flavorings. We really don't expect much anymore from Chinese buffets but this one fell well below even that low standard. read more

This is the restaurant I meant to review recently but I mixed it up with a place in Prestonville. I love the Peking Chinese Restaurant in Pikeville. I think the decor is lovely. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and polite. The buffet varies but is always tasty. The chicken wings are outstanding. Prime rib on Sundays is very good. The sweet tea is excellent. Very nice buffet. The staff was nice and attentive. The food was varied, plentiful and the pans were always full. The price was not bad for all the food options available. The restaurant was clean (they were always wiping down tables and running the silent sweeper) and so was the restroom (the ladies at least. We didn't have a man with us so unsure about the men's room). New customers were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated right away. I will definitely eat here again when I'm in Pikeville another time. read more

Oriental in Pikeville? Well, I decided to try it out since they would deliver to my hotel. What I got was a huge amount of food. I could have fed about 4 people. I ordered a lunch special which included an egg roll, fried cheese wonton and fried rice. My main course of Kung Peo chicken was tasty. Was informed after questioning my bill that they had me checking in a t 3:01 which was dinner Buffett time, while I know I arrived before that since I checked the time as going in. Chinese food in pikeville! Food is not that great in my opinion. The general tsao and orange chicken is more dough than chicken. The general tsao is ridiculously over fried and hard as a rock. There are some pretty good selections, but for each good selection there is one bad selection. People there are really nice and attentive. Although the food is decent, cleanliness is awful. The last time I ate there, my experience was mauled by 2 events. The first was a rat streaking across the main dining room. Evidently, rats must be common at Chinese restaurants because I remember seeing one in a Chinese restaurant in Florence, KY several years ago. After I finished my dinner, I went to get some desert. This is when I noticed that there were cockroaches climbing up a wall near the buffet bar. Not one cockroach, but several ... I counted at least 10 of them. I told the management about the rat and the cockroaches and they didn't seem surprised nor did they seem to care. So unless you like exotic dishes like Rat Chow Mein or Sweet and Sour Cockroaches, I suggest you avoid this place at all cost. read more

Great food, great service, friendly staff, and the place is clean. We love eating here. And the prices are not bad at all! Monday-Sat the lunch buffet from 11-3:30pm is 8.65 and that includes your drink. After 3:30pm and on Sundays the buffet cost a little more, but definitely worth it as it has a different selection than lunch. Plus they now have a Mongolian grill! read more

Avoid this place while dining in Pikeville. The staff has to be the rudest (from being bumped without apology, by the buffet attendant, and getting my take-out order tray jerked out of my hands by the cashier) is unacceptable. All of their food tastes like super-saturated salt, and soy sauce (perhaps the only ingredients that they use) The local newspaper releases the restaurant health inspections, and this place ranks at the bottom every single time. If you are in Pikeville for the day/evening by all means skip this place. read more

Delicious food, especially during the weekend. Price is very affordable too. Usually it's around 10 dollars for each of us, and the last time I did a carry out it only cost 13 bucks. The servers are very sweet, and always on top of your drinks. read more
