I can't believe the experience I just had at Peking Garden on Bay Ave by Acme. I ordered a pint of "house-special lo-mein" and after driving all the way back home, I realized they had given me combo fried rice instead. I called them on the phone to tell them of their mistake, and they said if I bring back the rice, they will exchange it for my lo-mein. After driving all the way back there (again), I had the rice on the passenger seat next to me but figured they wouldn't have the audacity to request the rice back. They wouldn't give me my lo-mein till I handed over the rice, so I told them I couldn't believe they wanted it back and that even McDonald's wouldn't do that! I told them "so you'll pass this along to the next customer (ewww) or waste it in the trash. They stated I didn't want it so they'd throw it away after they show their boss. I told them we'd eat it anyway if they didn't request it back and that I was going to give them a 1-star review online for the way they handled this. The 2 women who are always working there just shrugged their shoulders and didn't seem to care. (I was trying to prevent them from serving it to someone else!!!) I've lived in this area for decades and eaten there a decent amount of times. The 2 women there are usually rude, but this time took the cake. I will never order food from Peking Garden again!!! (rant over) I just thought someone out there may want to know how their regular customers are treated. read more

I called to get lunch about 70.00 dollars worth, a woman answers the phone and she is extremely rude, I mean rude 1st she was extremely upset cause we were just double checking our order to make sure when we got home that everything was right she was condescending and very nasty I wound up canceling the order, this woman needs a crash course on how to speak with people I don't know how she is still in business, now I don't know how her food tastes like so I can't make a judgement on that but if her food tastes anything like her attitude patrons beware . read more

It is one of the worst Chinese places around. They just changed their spring rolls. They are frozen from the grocery store the stuffing inside is horrible. There food has gone down hill. And the woman who works there is so horrible she has no people skills. She is very nasty. I understand people from other countries have other ways. This is the worse Chinese food I've ever had, and the woman at the drive through window was so rude and nasty. I never experienced anything like it. She gave me the wrong change than purposely crumpled up the right amount in her hand and basically threw it at me! She was yelling at me! The sauce was terrible. Food had a very odd taste and brown rice was hard and inedible. I have eaten there in the past and it wasn't bad. It has gone so far down hill. Will never see me again. Very good food & fast take out! Much Better than others in the area! The wonton soup very good, as was the fried rice, egg rolls and scallion pancakes. This is the first time that I went to Peking Garden and placed an order while I went over to Acme and will be back in a half hour. I picked up my order and asked for some homemade mustard, she told me that after I spent $25 it would cost me $.50 for a little teeny weenie container of mustard I WILL NEVER go back to Peking garden again. read more

This has been my go to Chinese take out restaurant for a number of years. I love the shrimp and lobster sauce but previously couldnt find a place that made it to my liking. Most places put peas in it and it is watery. Thankfully, they do not put peas in it. I ask that they make the sauce thick, and put extra garlic in it. And it is perfect to my liking. The ribs are great, meaty and tasty, char har kow, egg rolls and wonton soup are all my favs. Like the drive thru/pick up option. read more

Best Chinese in Manahawkin! They don't deliver but they have the only Chinese takeout drive thru that I've been to. Singapore noodles is great! Spicy ricE noodles with a curry flavor. General Tso chicken is bomb! And we love their wonton soup. Lots of other favorites but those are what we order most! read more

This is our Go-To for Chinese take out in Manahawkin. They are quick, portions are great and the food was very good. Plus you can drive through since it's in an old bank! General Chicken and shrimp on point. Nice greasy fried shrimp toast just like I like.....they include a special sauce with that don't miss it. All the soups are fresh and piping hot. Peking Garden is not high cuisine. But if you want an honest takeout meal at a reasonable price, Peking Garden delivers. I use their takeout as the base for an upgraded meal, assuming I have time. I usually have some chopped clams and whole pan broiled scallops available after a short defrost period plus some frozen vegetables. Mix the whole lot together with some roasted sesame oil plus other spices over brown rice that I always have available and you have a great dinner for 4 or 5 people at a very low cost. read more
