While working in Lewisburg, PA, my coworkers and I decided to stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant close to the facility we were working at. The place had plenty of seating, including both tables and booths, which made it easy to get seated right away. Ambiance was good, It was pretty empty during lunch but a great open area in the restaurant. Our waiter promptly greeted us, took our order, and the food was served within 10 minutes--impressive speed for lunchtime. I ordered the General Tso's chicken meal, which came with fried rice and lo mein. The food was hot, fresh, and flavorful. Once upon a time, this was the sushi spot of dreams--a place where the fish was fresh, the service was stellar, and the atmosphere was vibrant. Fast forward to now, and it feels like the restaurant has been possessed by the spirit of a gas station sushi stand. To start, we had to wait 5 minutes until a staff member put down their cell phone & came out from.the back. Then we were told to seat ourselves while going on a treasure hunt for menus. When we asked for hot tea, we were informed the tea 'machine' was broken and he offered the culinary equivalent of a ..shrug: hot water. Delicious! We decided not to tempt fate with anything raw or complicated, so we ordered soup and edamame. Big mistake. The soup tasted like someone had waved a packet of seasoning over lukewarm water and called it a day. The edamame, meanwhile, came on a paper plate like we were at some sad office potluck. To top it off, it was clearly microwaved. Yum. The atmosphere? Let's just say half the lights were out, and so was my faith in humanity. The service? Nonexistent--unless you count the awkward stares from the staff who seemed to be just as confused about their purpose as we were. We didn't stick around to see if things could get worse. Instead, we bailed and drove to Sushihanna in Lewisburg, where we were promptly reminded what good sushi and service are supposed to look like. This place used to be incredible. Restaurant was near the hotel I was staying at. Cashier was very nice. Food was not very nice. Ordered wonton soup, fried wontons and honey shrimp. Wontons in soup very thick and doughy, fried wontons soggy and dripping with grease( threw away), honey shrimp with excessive breading, soggy and drenched with honey. I come to the area every year and order from here. I like eating in their booths and the service and food is not too bad. This year we had the orange chicken, mapo tofu and a vegetable dish. I was surprised to see they had converted itself to a takeout only place with just a slit for taking the food away and payment. The food is still pretty good here. I had 3 meals out of it. read more

Most places around here aren't even that good maybe average at best but I thought this would be better from the pictures. As far as takeout goes, Peking isn't too bad for the area, although I do prefer Ruyee in Danville. Service was fast, prices were reasonable, and the food was overall OK. Fried rice was right on. When my parents and I arrived at the restaurant, the woman at the counter told us that the restaurant was closing at 9:30 and wanted to make sure we still wanted to eat there. After a moment of confusion I said yes, as it was only 8:45 and there were still 45 minutes before the restaurant closed. She reluctantly sat us and then when the waitress came out like a tornado, handed us our menus and immediately asked us what we want to drink, I got the feeling they were not interested in working anymore that day. She greeted us as if we were her out of town in-laws who showed up unannounced and demanded entertaining on the day that she was finally going to make her scientific breakthrough. I'm almost surprised she didn't just say, "Get out!" Okay, moving on - the main courses and appetizers came out at the same time - though it all came out literally like seven minutes after we ordered it! Can't complain about how fast we got the food! One other good thing about the waitress is that she did make sure that she had the correct orders from each of us...though as I'm writing this, I'm realizing that is just basic waitressing... The food was fine though over-spiced and salted, and our waitress came out three to four times as we were eating and kind of creeped up near our table and looked at our progress on the food, but never asked us if we liked it or needed anything. She would just run back to the kitchen after she looked at the table. She did this about two minutes after we started eating and then every few minutes after that until we were done. The last few times she literally came out wearing a coat. No joke. A coat. Then after she gave us the check - we hadn't asked for it and she didn't ask us if we wanted dessert or anything, of course; she came back out in her coat and started eating at a table in the back. I have three theories about this restaurant: 1) They're the only Chinese/Japanese restaurant in the area so they don't feel the need to try because they know people will come anyway. 2) The people who work there are literally being held hostage, as in they are slaves and miserable. I am still honestly considering calling the police to check in on them... or 3) They just wanted to go home early. If that's the case, management, if you're reading this please close earlier on Sundays. Your staff has no interest in staying until 9:30 and do not care if anyone comes back to your restaurant. I honestly would have rather gone to the Taco Bell if I had known the staff at Peking Garden was going to act like that. That was honestly some of the worst service I have ever received in my life. We were made to feel like we were a huge inconvenience on the staff which is quite an uncomfortable dining experience. Anyway, let me think of anything nice to say. Um...the restaurant seemed clean. Oh, and again, the food came out fast regardless of the reason, so there's always that. read more

I have been a patron of Peking Garden for over a decade and I have to say was rather disappointed with this evening's meal. One piece of carrot and microscopic amounts of egg in a large order of fried rice is disgraceful. It took them 30 minutes (instead of the 10 they told us to get to the restaurant in to pick it up) and the food was poor. The lo mein was very dry and the moo shoo pork was so salty I coudln't eat it. Coming from a salt addict, that's saying something. Dont waste your money here. Any restaurant that wont make fresh food in order to be lazy or try to save money by sacrificing quality is not worth even a dollar. I ordered walnut chicken and fried wantons. Walnut chicken was dry and stringy, this is because it is clearly meat that has been fried days before and placed in the fridge until someone wants to use it. This made the sauce fall right off of it because the meat was too dry. The fried wantons were so small and u got only six of them, and they also tasted a few days maybe a week old and refried. I am giving it 5 stars because it is the only Chinese food worth paying for in 20 miles and it ranks right up there with the best I have ever had. We won't even waste our money on the other Chinese food spots further north on 15. You get nice size portions at a decent value and we always have leftovers. Every time (4-5 times now) she just says hello (nothing to note what place you have called), takes my order in a very rushed manner, doesn't ask for my phone number or name, and never gives me time to say I want to pay with a credit card. She also never tells me how much the bill is or when I can expect the food. For a high-volume delivery business, you would think they would get some of the basics down... Went in for sushi, ordered the Dragon roll with the masage sauce in a side dish well, it came on top. My mother ordered the chicken and broccoli with no sauce, it came with sauce..clear slimy looking sauce that grossed us both out. I'm not sure what cheese wontons are supposed to taste like but we were both not happy with them we tasted...artificial crab?..and mayo?!...nothing that won't keep me from going back bc I love sushi, unless the order Instructions are continuously ignored. This is the worst Chinese food we have ever had. We ordered take out last evening, our first visit to this restaurant. When we got home we couldn't believe how horrible the chicken looked and smelled. We immediately drove back to return our food and complain. A woman approached us...possibly the owner or manager. She was very understanding and seemed to understand that we are not used to what she referred to as white sauce that they use rather than traditional brown sauce. She said they would prepare two new meals to our liking. We agreed. The first order took 20 minutes...the new order took less than 10 making us suspect. Once we got home the two meals appeared different in color. One was darker than the other. It was apparent that they "doctored" our original food. We did eat the rice and the broccoli but the chicken was so full of gristle and was tough that we threw it away. The won-ton soup was bland. We will never return. read more
