One thing that bothered me was the hostess seated us next to a family with crying babies when the restaurant had a lot of open tables elsewhere. So, here are some really good things about the menu, it is a huge menu with an amazing assortment of sushi rolls. Obviously they are known for this fresh served sushi! I ordered a fillet mignon with shrimp. It was such a massive amount of food, and the glaze that it was served in, was phenomenal. It was cooked to perfection. Exactly the way I wanted it, the shrimp were plentiful, and a large portion of the fried rice was perfectly prepared. The sides of the soup and salad were so tasty! My server was excellent, she was attentive and super friendly. My food was served, amazingly fast nothing but great things to say about this place. Located in a strip mall but quite a nice surprise! Attentive staff. Very comprehensive menu. And food was prepared very quickly. The sushi sampler was very good! We had one and then ordered another!! Pineapple rice was good but not exceptional - a bit bland. Orange peel chicken was very nice but could have done with more orange. Deep fried Oreos were VERY good for dessert. First off let me say that I have eaten here probably a half dozen times and have always enjoyed it other than the fact that the service usually sucked!!! 4 of us had lunch here today. I ordered Pad Thai. I asked if there was carrots in in. He didn't "think" so. I asked for extra bean sprouts. Sure as heck, my plate was set in front of me ....WITH CARROTS!!! And definitely no extra sprouts. My one friend ordered Seafood Yaki Soba with a fish "cake". We could not find a fish "cake"! After exchanging a few words with Gen-X male waiter, the "CHEF " gave him as such in a small bowl. Below you will find a photograph of what they call a "FISH CAKE"!!!! Needless to say that the chef had the same mentality and attitude of Gen-X male waiter. Customer service is not only lacking but, seemlessly non-existent!! Between the four of us, the establishment collected approximately $80 in exchange for mediocre food and debilitating service. We will NOT EVER BE BACK!!!! Okay, so I know I shouldn't expect much from small-town PA, but the food here was so MEH that I can't believe I even paid for it. The rolls were a good size - I'll give them that. However, they lacked flavor. Like, why did the spicy tuna roll taste like nothing? I also ordered a hibachi shrimp plate and everything was SWIMMING in sauce - the same, sweetish (non-sour/tart sauce they gave me when I asked for ponzu). They also had issues with their credit card system when I was there, so after waiting for 10 minutes, I finally got my card back. They had to write the info down and charge me later. *sigh* I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're desperate for sushi. read more

For takeout we ordered Spicy California Rolls, Chicken Pad Thai, Bourbon Chicken and picked in up. The rolls were good, they would have been great but they put them in with the hot food so the spicy california rolls were warm. The pad thai was ok, I've had better at Siam and Joy Thai Cuisine. My husband's bourbon chicken was awful. The sauce was bland and the chicken was very tough. I tried it and didn't like it either. read more

I was there for lunch two days ago and I got a lunch special with steak and chicken which was good and I opted for the soup instead of the salad the soup come out there was a hair on the spoon so I sent it back and I watch the young man behind the counter. About 10 minutes later he brought me another bowl of soup out, and I said to the man is that from the same pot that the other soup came from and he said yes, but the hair was on the spoon and I said no I'll take it back. In spite of good ratings and comments here, in spite of the raving recommendations from two friends, I couldn't help but to be disappointed with this restaurant. I am certainly not going back. Starting with service: our server didn't know the basics. She insistent on taking our orders and didn't allow us time to look through the large menu. The three people in my party received their dishes one at a time, at least ten minutes apart from each other. I had to ask for a soy sauce dish for my sashimi. We had to ask for chopsticks. She took away the spoons from people who were having udon halfway through their meal, so we had to ask for spoons. The food leaves a lot to be desired. The presentation is careful, but in a way that lacks the simple elegance of Japanese food. The fish in my chirashi lacked any hint of flavor. The sushi rice was not well cooked and under seasoned, that is, barely a hint of vinegar or sugar. There were several, real shiso leaves in between the seafood pieces, which made for good visual appeal, but didn't add to the flavors in the dish. The broth in my son's udon tasted like powdered soup base from a cheap ramen package. My banana tempura had no crunch and the banana tasted green; the chocolate sauce and whipped cream (canned) only helped to make the batter get soggy faster than I could eat. My son's ice cream filled mochi was over presented to the point of being de characterized: whipped cream and colored sprinkles... If you know and love Japanese food, understand that this is just another one of those unauthentic restaurants run by people who don't know well the cuisine they work with. read more

I've been to this place at least 5 times. All my other times were great. Today, not so much. I ordered Hibachi Steak. I ate a few bites. The steak was so tough I couldn't eat it. I told my waiter, he sent over another waiter. Both apologized but nothing was done to rectify the poor quality meal. So, I asked for a take out box for my dog who will enjoy the tough steak. We came here for pho, which was a mistake. The reviews said it was bad, but there's so little pho in the area that we figured we'd check it out anyway. It should have been a sign when we called to ask about it and the person who answered the phone corrected my partner's pronunciation of "fuh" by asking if he meant "foe." It was Friday night when we visited, and the place was slammed with large tables of college kids. They were able to seat us right away but it was about 10 minutes before anyone came over to take our drink order. I ordered miso soup ($2) and a shrimp tempura roll ($6), both which were alright -- the roll was decent with lots of shrimp and veggies, nicely plated but could have benefited from more eel sauce, and the miso soup broth was alright but small and there was very little seaweed or tofu within. The pho, though, was $12, and was served with bean sprouts, cilantro and a lime wedge. No basil. This is $4-$5 too much for a bowl of really awful pho. My partner got the shrimp pho. While they weren't stingy with the shrimp, it was probably the only okay thing about it. The broth was that of a flavorless generic soup, and contained scant vegetables - carrots and cabbage. It was not served with hoisin or sriracha and the waiter seemed pretty confused when my partner asked for them. He offered to bring out hot sauce and delivered a container of what seemed to be wing sauce, which certainly didn't save the dish. Pho is great and it's a sad tease that it is offered at this restaurant. Save yourself the disappointment and just wait for your next trip to State College instead. read more
