I ordered this to go and when I got back to my office I was upset that they put green peppers in when I specifically asked to not have any and then I double checked my receipt and saw that they charged me extra for them. I'm the picture you can see an entire mound of celery that I picked out. What little chicken and rice was left was dry and flavorless. I had to add copious amounts of sriracha and soy sauce just to make it edible. I will never go back here again. I didn't dine in so I don't have any insight to the ambience. read more

Honestly $10.99 for the lunch buffet isn't bad at all. It's basic cheap Asian food. It's not the greatest but it's not the worst, some of the food is kinda bland ngl. But if you're just trynna eat to get full or eat a ton of food then I'd recommend it. I also like that they have a Mongolian grill option. And the waiters were friendly. Let me be clear. This restaurant does not deserve five stars. Yet, I find myself emotionally unprepared to deliver fewer. I'm kinda annoying about going here literally every time I'm in Williamsburg. The journey for me began well over 20 years ago when I encountered the restaurant for the first time as a high school student visiting Williamsburg to check out W&M. Or perhaps it was as a Freshman as my parents came to town and took me out for some fine dining. Who knows. The point is - this is anything but fine dining. You might be alarmed as you pull into the dilapidated shopping center. As you drive past a few boarded up stores, you'll have an uneasy feeling that perhaps getting out of your car around here might be a bad idea. As you emerge from the car you'll notice the stray weeds endemic to abandoned municipalities coming up through the cracks in the cement. Again you wonder: "why did I come to this place?" But confident that my review will not steer you wrong, you trundle towards the large gold lions flanking the front door of this establishment. Walk in and you'll find COLOR! Red and gold are flung about on the tables and walls so you know you're getting Asian food of some sort. On one end of the restaurant as you walk in you'll see the large Mongolian grill - a flat surface on which they'll cook your food. To the left is the Chinese buffet. Beyond that, Vietnamese soup flanking a few Thai options... and then there's the dumpling station, dessert, and ice cream machine. Oh but wait... is that a sushi conveyor? Why yes it is! It's like a food tour of Asia in one restaurant. Wander to your table, grab a seat and a server will be over to take drink orders. Hot tea goes nicely on a cold day, your drink of choice otherwise. Are your arms sticking unpleasantly to the table? Is there nothing you can do with your napkin to get rid of that weird feel? There is a solution! Don't touch the table. Instead, get up and head over to grab some food. The important question: is any of it good, though? Yes! Some of it sure is. Here are a few tips and tricks to help ensure you emerge with joy in your heart and a nap in your near future. When to go: Watch out for weekdays. They're low traffic and your food quality may suffer for it. Mongolian BBQ Hit up the Mongolian table - it's delicious. Your food should be heaping above your bowl if you're doing it right - it cooks down a lot. When you get to the sauces, get as much solid garlic into your spoon as you can and then dump it on your bowl. If you're embarrassed, you're doing it right. Add another ladle full of garlic water. One or two ladles of ginger water. TWO ladles minimum of Mongolian sauce. After that it's up to you, but I'd highly recommend some lemon, a ladle of rice wine, and a full ladle of sesame oil. Personally I enjoy some chili oil ... they don't have that with the sauces but you can ask your server and they'll bring some to your table. As you get back your cooked food, find a set of rice makers behind you ... if you didn't go with a noodle base, you probably want some rice to soak up the delicious sauce. Chinese buffet I mean, it's a Chinese buffet. You know what to do. Take what you enjoy, leave what you don't. I was especially pleased with the bivalves when I went the other day. While you're waling down the trays look behind you: you might want to snag a bowl of hot & sour soup or egg drop soup as an appetizer. And don't forget the crunchy wonton strips too. Thai and Vietnamese options They're there somewhere. I feel like I've tried them a few times. The dumplings are pretty good - but be prepared for perhaps a thicker wrap than you're used to. If you use a spare bowl for your dumpling sauce it pairs well with some of that chili oil you asked your server for. Are the dumplings Thai or Vietnamese? Honestly I have no idea, but who can remember what's in these sections? Ice cream I feel like this has gotten better. It used to be that sort of ice-milk stuff, but more recently was delightfully creamy. I was pleasantly surprised. At the risk of misleading you though please expect ice-milk and then if it's good you too can be pleasantly surprised. Sushi conveyor If it takes you a while to get here and you're too full: good work! You've done the right thing. Choice is limited, fish is sparse, and it's mostly rice. Besides, how long has it been sitting on that conveyor anyway? Strongly recommend you stay clear of this unless you're a big fan of rice with some flavorings. read more

Very disappointed. Peking has been a family favorite for nearly twenty years, but we're reconsidering that now. The price has gone up, which wouldn't be a deal-breaker if the food and service were both still as good as they used to be, but alas, that is not the case. At our most recent visit, the server became upset and confrontational when I gave her a 12% tip (angrily pointing out the "suggested" 15 or 20%) for bringing water to the table and clearing a few dishes! (Remember, this is a buffet. By comparison, earlier that same day, I tipped a server 20% at a full-service restaurant where she handled every aspect of the meal for a party of 13!) I don't intend to return to Peking if they expect me to pay higher prices for mediocre food and a complimentary hassle from the wait staff on the side. No thanks. This establishment has been around for a long time. However, it seems that there's been changes to owners/management. Missing from the buffet were char-sui pork (Chinese BBQ) and roast duck. The General Tso chicken was also done differently than in the past. Not going into taste as that is very subjective. But the above changes were a bit disappointing. However, the Mongolian Grill selection was still good. The quality of the sliced beef and pork at the grill was good. Overall, it is a good option for reasonably priced Chinese in the area. read more

Peking is an old school, inexpensive, simple, place that mostly the locals love and are glad it is what it is. The food is and variety is excellent with lovely sweet people who work there. It is old and worn and could be cleaner, but we love it. read more

Here's the deal, you have to rate buffets on a different scale than other restaurants. It's a buffet, so you have huge variety and average quality. So, on the buffet scale, Peking gets an easy 4, maybe a 4.5. All of the food is good, but not great. Generally the ingredients are quality, the food is hot, and you can expect to be stuffed when you leave. They even have a sushi bar! The Mongolian grill is the shining star here. The staff is friendly, the lunch deal is decent, and the place is clean. But, don't forget this is a buffet. Expect some duds. The Japanese bar is just ok, the Thai bar at dinner is average. The salad bar is embarrassing, but, why get salad. Don't miss the honey chicken, green beans, and sushi. Pass on the seafood IMHO. Waddle on home after spending about 20$ with taxes and tip. The food selection was great BUT the quantity was GONE or very low by 7:10pm They closed at 8 and didn't reload anything. they just said it is what it is. Take it or leave it. We were starving so we agreed. What we DID get to eat was good. Wish we would had tried more. Another personal observation; by 7:00 the place isn't is destroyed. The dishes on tables and food on the floor etc it was a Tuesday at 7:10 when we stopped in. Looked like s twister came through. I'm From NJ this was crazy to witness. C and I wanted to go have some Asian food and sushi without the rest of the family so when we got the chance to go without the kids tonight, we we gone faster than you can say "nigiri". The atmosphere is what I would consider typical of an Asian buffet, but maybe a bit more amplified. We were seated promptly and our server was right over to ask what we wanted to drink. I got the Tsingtao Fizz and I thought it was great mostly because I just needed some alcohol. It could have been stronger, but for $7, I wasn't disappointed. I liked the beer and peach combo and would order it again. I may just make it at home. One of the reasons we were intrigued by Peking was the sushi train: a conveyer belt with 1-2 pieces of sushi on a dome-topped plate. I was kind of hoping that the sushi train could deliver sushi directly into my mouth, but I don't think that technology has been cracked, yet. There were descriptions of the sushi next to the pieces so you knew what you were getting. I really enjoyed the offerings, but I do wish there was a little more variety. A girl can dream. I was happy to see so many seafood and vegetarian options on the buffet. I'm so often met with chicken, beef, and pork options and then like, 4 vegetarian things. But Peking stepped its game up. I only wish my stomach was bigger to accommodate everything. The spicy shrimp was my favorite, along with the crab Rangoon. I'm partial to the sweet crab Rangoon, and this was not that. It was fully loaded with crab and I think I have a new favorite. It was like a siren's song. It kept calling me back. C really enjoyed the seafood pancakes, among pretty much everything else he tried. He dipped his in the dumpling sauce and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of that earlier. That's why I married him. The desserts were pretty basic. They had cookies, cakes, and ice cream and I would like to see just a little more creativity here since their food selection was more varied than I'm used to. This was really the only part that disappointed me. Because I have a sweet tooth and I don't often get dessert, I wanted this to be better. They had a Mongolian grill here, as well, but we didn't try that. There was also bubble tea that I had my eye on, but ultimately decided against it because I didn't want to pay for two drinks. Ain't nobody got time for that. Honestly, everything here was solid and I would consider coming here again next time we're in town. TL;DR: Anything here with seafood was great. Came here in June, 2021 and feel like the restaurant has gone down hill. I imagine it's totally due to COVID. In the past, the restaurant was packed. But this visit there weren't many customers. As a result, they had closed lots of buffet stations and my wife felt that the food quality was not very good. The server was wonderful, when I told her I'd never been there before she offered to take me around and show me all of the different buffets. The sushi I had was good although they made it a little difficult to get more than a couple of pieces at a time, so they were on little plates with a dome over top so you could only carry one or two. The Chinese food on the buffet was pretty good, the lo mein was delicious. The Mongolian barbecue was not good, They had the same sauces that I am used to, but apparently they taste different even though they have the same names. The cooked food smelled like wet socks, but just tasted like boiled food. This place is amazing. Masks enforced as you serve yourself. As is sanitizer and gloves as you touch serving utensils. Made me feel very safe. Seating is 6 feet apart and of course, mask and gloves come off once you are seated at your table. Delicious sushi, Japanese dishes and chinese dishes. Also an incredible Mongolian grill where you choose the dish and watch the chef prepare it. Can't wait to go again and I feel safe bringing my immunocompromised Mom!!!! read more

MEH AT BEST - This place used to be very good, clean, and we would visit regularly. Over the years it had gone downhill with food quality declining. We decided to give it another shot, hoping for better, but it was even worse. The food was worse than we expected, some of it shockingly bad. Several items we would not even try as they just looked gross. The sushi was terrible, everyone in our group that tried it spit everything out. Many plates went back with a lot of food on them as it was just not edible. They would do so much better if they increased the quality, even at an increased price, as locals would return again. I would say this is an Asian Fusian Buffet. Good selection of Chinese, Thai, Japanese, a couple Korean items & a traditional sushi conveyer belt. Going on a week night, it was busy than expected. Chinese foods were cold to barely luke warm. Japanese & Thai foods were more appropriate temp as they were in covered warmers. If the food was warm, I would have given it a 4 or 5. I was looking for a buffet in the Williamsburg area in Yelp and this came up with good reviews so we decided to check it out. My 9 year old daughter and 5 year old son loved the lo mien noodles which is what they normally eat at a Chinese buffet. Most of the food I got was very good and my wife enjoyed the Mongolian hibachi she put together. She ate all of the Mongolian hibachi which is very unusual. I also liked some of the cooked sushi they had which was a very pleasant surprise. When in the Williamsburg area, we will definitely come back for more, my wife is already thinking of reasons to come back. When you eat Asian food three times a week and go on vacation, you will take any port in a storm. I figured a buffet setting would give the rest of the family enough options and this place got a lot of local talking-up. While they have a Stir-Fry station, a sushi train, regular Chinese offerings and a bunch of desserts, there is nothing that is really "stand-out" here - which can be a plus or a minus. I was happy enough, the kids ate rice and noodles (and some pizza) and the husband grumbled about the quality of the meat at the stir-fry station. The food varies from absolutely delicious to downright rancid. Still, the cumin beef with onions win the five stars. You have to use your nose and eyes to figure out if the food is edible, kind of like hunting in the jungle. Only the fittest can survive and leave a review. read more
