We have been going to Peking Wok ever since it was located in Vista. It is the best authentic Chinese Restaurant around. Unfortunately we have to drive to Bonsall to enjoy it, but we do go there often because it is absolutely wonderful. The owners are there every day and night making sure that everything is perfect. They are very friendly and will stop and talk with you about how your meal was. All of the items on the menu are exceptional and we specifically like the won ton soup, lettuce cups, curry beef, and three ingredient. It is always crowded and there is a live piano player and full bar menu. The service is excellent and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great chinese food! Go! The restaurant itself is well set up and decorated. It borders on elegant, but not to the point that jeans and a T-Shirt aren't comfortable. The lady who runs it does a great job of interacting with the customers, making them feel welcomed and appreciated, without being a bother by overdoing it. As for the food, the main courses are very good, but I haven't had one that made me think this is great Chinese food, better than average yes. However, I personally like to judge Chinese restaurants on their soups. Wow, this place has perhaps the best wonton soup I've ever had. It is full of vegetables, with pieces of chicken and shrimp, with well stuffed wontons. This soup alone is worth visiting the restaurant. Peking Wok is amazing Chinese food. It's almost like its too good for its location. I'm glad its there though. The staff & owners are very friendly and treat my family like royalty. Portions are huge. Food is delicious. They make a gluten free orange chicken sautéed that is the bomb. Eat here several times a month. You leave full,and unlike most chinese,you stay full long after! On the outside it appeared to be desolate almost. We decided to try it out and by the time we sat down we felt very comfortable and knew we had made the right choice. The seating is very nice alot with the establishment. Our waitress was pleasent, and when our food came, there was no doubt that there was adequete time taken to full cook our food at the time requested. (I've had plenty of 5 min ready chinese plates) Our young son was with us and it was a nice environment for him also, even though we were very much dressed down, we did not once feel out of place. Peking wok is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in north county. It has the the best noodles severed in a brown sauce. But the greatest thing a bought this restaurant is the orange tofu. It is crispy in the outside soft on the inside and severed with orange sauce on a bed of broccoli. It is fun to come at night when they have a guy playing the piano and it gives the restaurant a nice feel. read more

I have been looking for a great traditional Chinese restaurant n North San Diego since moving from Los Angeles County 11 years ago. My search has finally ended with finding Peking Wok in Bonsall. Went there with my daughter on New Years Eve. What a wonderful experience from the great bartender who made me the best dirty margarita I have ever tasted, to the super wait staff that didn't miss a beat. Went here for lunch before catching a movie. Big serving and value for the lunch special. Staff was courteous and food was flavorful.

I normally have really good experiences here but last time I went was rather disappointing. The older lady with brown hair and bright lipstick was our waitress.We waited around ten minutes to be greeted and give waters. All the time we were waiting another customer sat down and she immediately greeted them with water and the little crispy things. After this we started to sense like we're being ignored. She finally decided to come over and take our Order. While the food was delicious, she never once refilled our tiny glasses of water. When bringing out our order she plopped it onto the table making some broccoli fall off the side of the plate, then walks away not asking us if we needed anything else.She also never checked in on us and seemed annoyed for some reason. We asked for water not once but twice and she never came until she had to give us the bill. This said, it was not even busy. Maybe she was having a bad day like everyone else but you shouldn't let it affect your work and customer service. I'm not really a fan of Chinese food, but I LOVE this place. The cheese wonton appetizers are amazing. Our favorite choices are the orange chicken and pork fried rice. Atmosphere is very relaxing and even though it is open, it's not too noisy. The piano player adds to the relaxing atmosphere. Went here with my husband on a Thursday night for dinner. We didn't know that it was going to be a fancy dining experience. The ambiance was romantic. Definitely great for date nights. Three of us had a fresh delicious dinner at Peking Wok last Sunday. The restaurant was full but we were seated and served quickly. We liked that there was a bit of Thai flavors in one of the appetizers-the Chili dumplings. Yum. The rest of our meal consisted of pot stickers (made in house, not frozen as were the dumplings...being from San Francisco I can tell right away about this), hot and sour soup, lettuce chicken, curry beef and steamed rice. Dinner a couple nights ago was great as usual, we've been coming in for years. But the other night the sweet lady at the cashier area (guessing the owner) noticed our server hadn't got to us (looks like she had a big party), she came over took great care of us and then went into the kitchen and personally made us these incredible fresh basil spring rolls on the house. Finaly got to check this place out, was instantly sorry I hadn't checked it out sooner! Took some friends to what I thought would be a quick meal, but we ended up staying for an extra hour. There's a piano player (or at least he was there on Friday nights), and he took requests. It's little things like this that go a long way, as opposed to restaurants that have no personality whatsoever. The food was great, too - We had some sort of sweet shrimp in a green sauce (don't remember the name)., and the kung pao chicken. I don't know how people rate this Chinese restaurant so high. It is about the same quality as Panda at twice the cost. If you know good Chinese food, this is not the place for you. I happen to have lived and worked in Asia and I also know San Francisco Chinese food, this doesn't come close. If you have very pedestrian taste this is OK. Not impressed. For the exorbitantly high prices, we were expecting great quality. Menu items start at $14.95. I ordered a Specialty dish at $18, Bau Hu, which is crispy pork with sweet brown sauce. The pork was not crispy, meat was chewy and no extra sauce on plate, only enough to lightly cover the meat. My husband had the orange chicken which was a bit more palatable but still no extra sauce. We were having a late dinner during an overnight trip to the area and discovered that Fallbrook does not have that many known places to eat or the places that were available closed so early! We found this place in the next town over through Yelp and made a run for it just in time for the final hour before closing. The server was friendly but over the top hyperactive and her high pitched voice did not go with the ambiance of the restaurant, which I believe they were shooting for serene. The items were on the expensive side, although we did not leave hungry. We ordered a large bowl of war wonton soup, egg rolls, orange chicken, moo shu pork, and spicy honey chicken. In her glee, the server wrote honey chicken, not spicy. It happened to be the only disappointing dish in texture and flavor. The entrees are served family style with a large bowl of rice on the side. If in the area again we may end up for another "late" dinner but it will not be a place we will drive out of our way for. read more
